Samurai Warlord Peter Pace, new nominee for Joint Chiefs of Staff, was asked about if our specialized approach to caves and tunnels is like that in WWII and Vietnam. He was to have replied:
Our specialized approach to caves and tunnels is to put 500-pound bombs in the entrance.
(Respectful bow to Jay Nordlinger)

Marines rule! Oooraah!
My specialized approach to posting is to put FIRST comments in.
I like this guy.
Graaaaaaaah Plea!
Skip Chairman of the JCs.
Elect that man POTUS tomorrow. He’s got the right attitude for the job.
And that phrase is very resilient. Just substitute “Democrats and Liberals” for “caves and tunnels,” and it works just as well!
HUA!
I like the flame-thrower approach myself, but explosions are a lot cooler.
How come this isn’t the approach we have to cities like Fallujah?
Well, the reason we didnt have that approach with Fahllujah is that Gen. Pace was not running things then. I expect a more “direct” approach at terrorist assholes wiht the new JCS.
And here I thought the Falluja tactics were more reflective of the deep down need to get some foreigner killing in a more personal way. Buck wanted to use his gun.
500 lb bomb?
good choice
i’da used AnFo or napalm…lots of flames! those rags the terrorists wear on their heads prolly burn real good.
Few problems cannot be solved by the proper use of high explosives.
It’s about time. I’ve been waiting for them to use the MOAB and now it looks like we’ll have some one that has a pair and won’t be afraid to use it.
I’m pretty sure he’s the one who had this exchange in a briefing about Afghanistan. (from memory)
(talk about a mission being successful preceded this)
Q.What was the goal of the mission?
Pace. To kill al Quaeda.
Q. How do you know it was a success? What did you see on the ground?
Pace. Dead al Quaeda.
That’s just about beautiful. The set-up by the reporter was about perfect. The look on his face was priceless too. They weren’t used to people telling the blunt truth.
If it wasn’t him it was rear-Admiral Stufflebeam. But I’m pretty sure I remember the Marine uniform from that briefing.
