President Obama

While I think American would have elected a qualified black president years ago if one ran, I’m not sure America is ready for a president named “Obama.” Seriously. I think his name is going to be a bigger problem than even a liberal voting record. Eventually, as a society, we will mature and be able to elect a president named Obama, but I really don’t think we’re there yet.
On the other hand, do you think the nation can be led by a guy named “Mitt”?

  1. Obam is an empty suit. He has not even finished one term as a U.S. Senator, he hasn’t sponsored any bills let alone get a bill passed, and finally, he got into office by allowing the Democrats to dig up scum on his opponent. His opponent resigned and the pubs sent a normally sane and civil carpetbagging candidate that turned into a raving lunatic. Wait a minute, that does make him highly qualified as a Demoncrat candiadte.
Mitt, on the other hand, was a successful Repub governor in a blue state, which says something about the man.

  2. forgitt mitt, what about president newt?
furthermore, for the last 7 years the president and vice president have been bush and dick and for a while, there was even a dude named colon polyp (or something like that… douche)…
but no we’re not ready for president barak obama/sama because he sounds like a goddamn terrorist and would indeed cater to the interests of terrorists…
as far as qualified black candidates go, we had a senate candidate down here named Herman Cain who, if he had won (came in a comfortable 2nd behind Senator Isakson and ahead of Congressman Collins), would have been in line to be a frontline black presidential candidate in ’08 or ’12

  3. Mitt’s real first name is Willard. So yes, he is “Willard Mitt Romney.” There are other Presidents who have gone by middle names:
    Hiram Ulysses Grant
    Stephen Grover Cleveland
    Thomas Woodrow Wilson
    John Calvin Coolidge
So Gerald Ford would have done better in 1976 if he still went by Leslie Lynch King? 😉

  4. do you think the nation can be led by a guy named “Mitt”?
I’m far more concerned about the fact that he used to head up a consulting firm than I am by his name.
Dwight Eisenhower belongs on the list of changed names, too. I believe that he formally changed his name from David Dwight Eisenhower to Dwight David Eisenhower. I don’t know why he would do that, but things were probably different a hundred years ago or so.

  5. its gonna be Mitt/Newt 08. they will be sponsered by Schlotzky’s and run under the slogan “Funny names, serious candidates.” I have foreseen it. though Newt seems close to Rudy too, I have qualms about a) voting Rudy for President, and b) having a ticket with two adulterers on it.

  6. Obama for Prez? Pshaw. He’s a wispy Congressional sophomore. He is so lacking in body mass that he has to try twice to cast a shadow. However, he might not be as bad as my governor. Here in New Mexico (which is neither), Bill Richardson is likely to make a run for the Presidency, and that scares me. It’s bad enough having one of the Friends of Saddam as governor. His latast gaff was going to Sudan to “broker a peace deal in the war-torn Darfur region”. As though there wasn’t anything going on there for years, but now it’s urgent…just before he tries to run for the”Casa Blanca”. He’ll probably do sumthin’ all latino-ish if he wins, like change the designation of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue to 1600 Avenida de Pennsylvanio or start calling it The Light-Brown House or something equally stupid.

  7. I can see the question in the presidential debate now.
“Sir, can you assure the American people that you can keep your pants on while in office.”
On the serious side, I would take adultery as a strike against someone. In the grand scheme of things past adultery isn’t my primary concern though. Clinton’s problem on the other hand is that he was a serial womanizer who couldn’t stop if the nation depended on it. Unfortunately, he didn’t stop. It froze his presidency every bit as much as Bush’s wartime misadventures.

  8. Clintons problems were myriad. Being a lecherous gas bag wasn’t the worst; his nearly successful crippling of our military at Hitlery’s behest, his desire to sell America’s soveriegn status out to the UN, and his policy of looking the other way when it came to terrorist activities are some of the worse hallmarks of his regime. But considering Hitlery was seemingly OK with all that AND the cheating makes her a definite evil in the race for President.
Commander in Chief H. Clinton… shudderrrrr

  9. Oh c’mon, it’s going to be Rudy!/Newt.
Rudy because he’s tough on terrorist and a proven leader, so the right will like him. Also, he was mayor of NYC so he has solid liberal credentials (Hopefully, he leaves them on the train when he moves to DC), and Newt so conservatives will be able to vote for gay-loving Rudy.
Maybe it’s just that I really want to see the NY Times go even more insane. They hate Benito Giuliani more than they hate Bush.
Well, maybe they hate him as much, but they hate Benito a lot. I really look forward to them telling me that Rudy hates homos. If they will do that I’ll start reading that paper again. Mad magazine’s prices just went up again so I need some cheap laughs.

  10. No, there will be no Obama, no Newt, no Mitt, no Pataki, no Vilsack. The fact that these people even run attests to their innate vanity. How else to explain the millions spent on campaigns that make the majority of voters laugh?
Even Giuliani is going to have his hands full as an Eye-talian. Two things in his favor: he put plenty of goombahs away for life, and (should he make it through the primaries) he’ll probably be facing a Clinton/Obama ticket (you just know they’re going to shoot themselves in the foot like that).
But is America ready for a cock-eyed First Lady?

  11. Mad magazine’s prices just went up again so I need some cheap laughs.
Does the magazine no longer have “Cheap!” next to its price?
Well, I’ll provide some cheap laughs at IMAO as soon as something inspires me again. It’s just a slow month for politics.

  12. What about the San Francisco Tuna in American Samoa’s minimum wage issue? The trustworthily honest Nancy “The Face” Pelosi demonstrating her interpretation of “honest gov’t.” If they try to sneek through anything relating to gun restrictions, I propose an armed march on DC.

  13. What is Americas favorite pastime?
    Baseball
What are one of the tools of baseball?
    A Mitt.
Therefore America is not only ready but anxious for a president named Mitt.
    Goooooo Mitt.
I don’t care what religion Obama claims now. I don’t trust him, he’s a Demoncrat and I haven’t found one yet who didn’t have a problem with the truth.

  14. AlanABQ,
    “Clintons problems were myriad.”
I agree that the Clinton administration had many problems, along with a few accomplishments. Since I’m not a true conservative, my outlook on that would be quite a bit different than many here. The thing about Bill and Hillary that pissed me off the most was that they thought they could finagle anything and thought they were smart enough to always pull it off. Bill Clinton’s testimony in the Paula Jones trial is case in point. Clinton’s waffling and deception even down to trying to manipulate legal language devolved into low comedy. Unfortunately, this attitude also cropped up in the negotiation with North Korea. Clinton and Albright thought they could finagle a deal with an absolutely ruthless dictator that had no intention of holding up his end of any bargain. The deal didn’t slow North Korea’s nuclear development plan a bit. I can go on, but that’s enough for now.

  15. Personally, I’d vote for a one-eyed, left-handed, three-testicled, green and purple hermaphrodite from Alpha Centuri if “it” were proven to have a conservitive voting record and could be counted on to fulfill “it’s” adjenda once voted into office.
Obama is nothing but a joke. The old Demoncat ploy to prove, “See, we like nigg…uhh..negros…no, African American…strike that, black…ummmnnn…minorities!” All the dems care about is that he’s black and liberal. Can anybody tell me what bills he’s written? He’s just another puppet that the pupeteers can control, and libs can “feeeeel good” for voting for him.
As for other candidates, can a true conservitive please step forward?

  16. Wolfman,
I guess you missed my rant about Obama, from a couple weeks back.
Obama’s a virgin politician. He’s got no dirt under his nails and his momma still wipes his ass for him.
Obama hasn’t been tainted by the system yet. He hasn’t had to take a stand or sell himself to get stuff done. They want to believe that Obama is a man of genuine good intentions and that those intentions will play out for the good.
I really do think Democrats at heart still believe that humans are noble and good by birth, until being soiled by civilization and the system. They really do believe in the perfectibility of man. Which explains why so many people that don’t have children vote Democrat. It’s not that children are inherently evil, to begin with, but more like turds that need to molded into something of substance. Children are quite capable of anything, good or bad. If neglected they quickly go to crap.
I just hope Obama isn’t another Jimmy Carter. A man whose good intentions and unyielding moral purpose blind him to the ways of the world. Jimmy wanted to be the politician who wasn’t a politician and ended up a disaster.
