Amanda Marcotte: Right-Winger in Disguise!

It ends up Amanda Marcotte is not a hate-filled liberal incapable of expressing a thought without lacing it with obscenities; the truth is she was merely satirizing those types of people. Here’s her new official statement on the Edwards’ blog:

My writings on my personal blog Pandagon on the issue of religion are generally satirical in nature and always intended strictly as a criticism of public policies and politics.

See, it was all a satire. If you look through the archives of Panadgon (I don’t recommend that, though) it seems like quite the dedication to a joke. She really convinced a lot of people – liberals especially – that’s she filled with nothing but hate and contempt for those who disagree with her and she saves her worst bile for religious views. Ironically, my first encounter with Amanda was when she claimed she couldn’t understand how a piece of mine could be called satire and spent what seemed like an inordinate amount of space writing about it (much longer than the actual piece). In the end, I guess, she was merely doing a parody of a bloviating idiot.
Don’t we all feel foolish now for not getting the joke?

  1. Hmmm, by her own theory of satire (i.e. for Frank to classify his words on killing Muslim children to be true satire he must be Muslim himself or at a minimum against the war), obviously Amanda is a pro-life Catholic who believes that the Duke lacrosse players are completely innocent!

  2. So how much damage control can she do while blatantly lying about her views & desperately erasing or modifying her past comments? I bet she sweating like a fat French whore right about now, frantically poring over her archives to see what to change.

  3. I guess being a bigot is ok…as long as you are a lefty bigot and the target of your bigotism (I know…it’s not a word!) is the Catholic Church! I’m not a Catholic myself and have plenty of problems with this church, however, they really aren’t just going after Catholics…they are coming after all of us Christians! It should be fun to watch the Edwards campaign…I predict it will explode in the very near future!

  4. Notice, in her ranting bizarro statements against religion, that there’s not a whole lot of Islam bashing. In fact, I didn’t see any at all. Nor did I come across diatribes against Hindus, Bhuddists, Satanists, or any Native American religious beliefs, although I did come across a bit o’ Mormon hate. I thought that she was all about equality?
    Bitch.
