There has been a bit of controversy over a post the puppy blender wrote in which he suggested the U.S. government secretly assassinate Iranian nuclear scientists and radical mullahs. One columnist even called on Glenn Reynolds to be fired from the University of Tennessee.
I’ve just sort of just sat back and watched being so perplexed by it all, but I would like to now go on record as saying I think this is a bunch of manufactured outrage. Of course, I’m for the U.S. government killing foreigners whenever they feel like it, so I’m especially for killing evil foreigners.
Also, if you look at Reynolds’ usual writing which all has the subtext of hobo murdering and Satan worship, his post about assassinating Iranians was actually his least evil post in some time. Any reasonable person would agree.

I actually never wrote a comment on this thread until this one. I agree with Instapundit and Atrios on Iran. Use special forces and secret missions instead of a needless ground invasion like we did in Iraq. Maybe sometimes kidnap Iran’s nuclear scientists istead of killing them so that you can at least find out what they know. Instapundit does a good job of explaining how the pathetic Bush administration has screwed up everything once again. They should also listen to James Baker and talk to Iran. It is smart to keep your enemies closer like Reagan did with Soviet Russia.
My head is imploding, but I agree with much of what SM says in this thread. what success we’ve had in this incredibly frustrating war has been with Special Forces Groups inserting themselves into communities and simultaneously training indigenous troops and occasional combat operations. Their use of medical, dental and infrastructure improvements for the citizens does more to quell the enemy than blind agression. A SF captain, major or senior non-com is probably the best diplomat our nation cna provide. Afghanistan began to go wrong only after the brass landed with their massive poge support systems and made 5 Group shave their beards.

All individuals involved in the Embassy attack.
All involved in holding our people hostage.
All their descendants.
Only then can they come to the table with us.
