I like this idea: President Bush is going to fund a border fence for Mexico’s southern border. We should call this the “Keep American Illegals Mexican” bill. We only want hard-working, honest Mexican illegal immigrants, not any of those shifty, Hugo Chavez-voting Venezuelans.
Of course, I’m kidding; this is an insane idea. It’s so crazy, I think we should consider sending President Bush to Gitmo… something that won’t be possible if liberals (and John McCain) get their way and shut it down. Why will they do anything to protect President Bush?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BOOSH MAKE CONSERVAITVS SAD!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STOOPID BOOSH THEY SAY!!!!! HE NOT REAL CONSERVATIVE!!!!!!!!! I LOL AT YOU STOOPID CONSERVAITE!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
He came from Phoenix! Maverick John McCain! His party can go to hell! The Senate as well! Maverick does it all for Maverick alone! Maverick John McCain!
and John McCain?
The LEGO Conservative
Once upon a time there was this guy who was pretending to be a liberal so he could marry this hot chick. But one day he messed up and he made a conservative out of LEGOs. Then his really smoking hot wife came home and saw what he did and she divorced him and took all of his money.

GAZE
I see many losers.
That article makes me SOOO AAANGRY. There is no emoticon for what I am feeling.
And then…. And then… the right wingers became totally irrelevant. And all the world rejoiced.
Yep, we are without a party now. The Independent and right leaning liberals have taken the GOP. So Frank needs a contest for the name of our new conservative party.
And then… What? IMAO was invaded by lobotomites and Frank J. struck them down before all the wondrous things that Conservatives built stopped running. And fortunately, all the idiots were now dead leaving the world for… Conservatives!
Ever notice that most Engineers are Conservatives?
You ‘tards aren’t even clever. You can’t write, you can’t think, you can’t debate, you can’t even tell funny stories. Go smoke your pot.
Who the hell cares about stopping people at the border? The country is falling apart because of this administration’s stupid economic practices. Wake up border freaks. There are bigger problems!! Like people starving in the streets and 200,000+ vets homeless and living under bridges. Guess you “know-it-all people” really don’t give a damn at all do you?
Let’s send the homeless (ie: hippies) down to build the fence along the southern mexican border…. while they’re gone we can build OUR fence on the American border.
john mccain’s campaign slogan could be “Send them to mexico to build fences – then screw ’em!”. I’ll start working on the bumper stickers.
I’ll start working on the bumper stickers.
good idea. hope its real expensive and you lose lots of money doing it cause nobody is going to buy such dumb car stickers.
Wow snea5y43p… you REALLY ARE as dumb and humorless as I imagine most liberals to be.
I’ll slow down for ya – that was a “joke”. Sometimes humans do that – sometimes we think it’s funny. Like when liberals claim to be “fiscally conservative”… it’s funny….like punching hippies – it’s just funny.
also – you’re a fag.
Hmm, Jimmy’s right. The liberals commenting here write like they’re mentally deficient.
And Timbo, just because the border isn’t the biggest problem, doesn’t mean it should be ignored. Also, giving $1.4 billion to Mexico is one of those “stupid economic practices” you’re complaining about so don’t you think you should care about it in this instance?
patchbay
Let’s send the homeless (ie: hippies) down to build the fence along the southern mexican border
I’m sorry buddy, but your whole premise is flawed. Everybody knows that hippies don’t work. That’s kind of their thing.
If I could ignore the Tard war and get back to the thread,
I think a deep south border makes a lot of sense. Put it on the south side of the panama canal.
Also invade Mexico.
the don’t work – even if they have marijuana in mexico?
crap. lousy hippies. no wonder punching them is so rewarding. I guess it’s their way of giving something to society.
If the Mexicans build a fence on their southern border, it would be a good thing. After it’s built, we can build a fence on our southen border since “everybody’s doing it”. Only our fence would be really super-awesome because hey, it’s America. We could put two lines of electrified razor wire 20 yards apart with grizzly bears carrying flamethrowers patroling the middle. Heck, we could put the fences on the Mexican side of the river since we’re America and if they don’t like it, we can always send the Marines.
They will under Obama, juggernaut… selling apples on the street like in 1933. Hey Obama, TAX THAT!
Oh wait, they alread do, except they’re bad salesmen. Would you buy and apple from a dirty, hairy hippie. Ah… no.
also – you’re a fag.
figures. typical republican using an insulting homophobic term when he disagrees with someone. i know you were serious about those dumb stickers. sounds like a business plan you would really consider.
IJ
I’m up for invading Mexico, but I’m busy this weekend. How’s next weekend for everybody? It should only take a couple dozen of us. We’ll travel light and eat what we pillage. The only downside I see is that invading Mexico necessitates spending time in Mexico.
Well, I’m ready jugg and cptn. Except I ain’t bringin’ any money to spend on those tourist traps down there.
On second thought, this is a bad idea. We’d have to “rebuild” them…
#17 – Posted by: IJ on February 12, 2008 04:31 PM
Damn straight! Then we can change the USMC song to “From the Halls of Montezuma to the Halls of Montezuma again!”
I also think Timbo is right. We shouldn’t have people starving in the streets. They should starve on my front lawn. Then, I could pay them a sandwich to fix that hole in my roof. Heck, I could probably get a new house in exchange for a pot roast and some baked potatoes.
I say we invade Cuba! That was proposed on here a while ago. Come on, who wants Mexico? No one! That’s why they’re all trying to come here! Plus, if we invade Cube we’ll have a whole 90 miles separating us from the liberals.
Mike, that’d be from the “Halls of Montezuma’s Revenge,” thank you very much. No.
cptnmoroni, I’m lookin’ forward to seeing you on “Mexican Makeover” on ABC.
Nobody wants Cuba – they don’t have any oil.
#28 – Posted by: cptnmoroni on February 12, 2008 04:47 PM
Oh, yeah. Crap.
And Timbo’tard, when you make up a number do one that is at least possibly true. And besides, the only homeless vets are from the ‘Nam war and are that way from the effects of contact with hippie spit.
#28 – Posted by: cptnmoroni on February 12, 2008 04:47 PM
Wait, I’ve got it! The Marines in Gitmo will surely join us. So we’ll invade Mexico and force them to comply to our demands of free oil!
“Fortune favors the clinically insane”
-Caesar’s long lost insane brother
You know, maybe its time that IMAO got a register system for comments….. I know trolls are fun, but I find myself not really reading as many of the comments anymore.
Seriously, guys think about it. We can steal a nuclear missile submarine from King’s Bay Naval Base (The crew will likely want to join us anyway) sneak to Gitmo, invade the rest of the island, hang that rat Castro from a palm tree, get all the Marines on whatever ships we have available, put them at anchor off Mexico and tell the Mexicans we have a ballistic submarine and if they don’t give us their oil we’ll blow them to hell. It’s so crazy it’ll work. Beautiful island + Oil + Nuclear arsenal = Paradise, my friend.

I bow to your superior wit and wisdom. That is the best quote I’ve come across in at least a month.
Long live Marko!!!

Thank you, thank you. On another note, I am officially announcing my intention to politely ask Fred Thompson to seek the office of President of the Conservative Republic of Cuba!
I have noticed that. It seems that when people are both smart and practical, they tend to be conservatives. I mean, seriously, if someone is a liberal, they’re either:
a) completely impractical (i.e. “war is bad – we should all just get along”), or
b) dumber than a box of rocks (i.e. “global warming is real!”)
Makes me even more proud to be an engineer.
You know if Fred Thompson were doing this it would be because he wants to make sure no Mexicans get away from his marauding army.
You know, maybe its time that IMAO got a register system for comments…..
register comment systems are lame
“register comment systems are lame”
Said the trusted analyst.
no no no… this fence on mexico’s southern border is perfect. the build it (and it’d be much cheaper because they’ve got the labor and it’ll be much shorter than ours)
then, we invade mexico and take over.
we get a free fence, cheap labor, and no one’s illegal anymore! win – win – win!!

It’s a weird phenomenon. Liberals try really hard to pretend to know what they’re talking about, but it doesn’t last long. When their arguments fall, the bitchy rage begins.
Even just to get a dialog going, the fanatics on the left have to pretend to be informed and enlightened at the same time that conservatives have to “dumb down” their ideas & speech. Again, it doesn’t last very long. Most of us don’t have the patience to explain the obvious over and over to someone who refuses to admit that they have been wrong about everything they believe.
And I don’t say even that to be condescending or malicious; it seems more like one of those inescapable facts of modern life.
200,000 homeless vets? Ding! Ding! Ding!….. Announcing the winner of the Dumbest Effing Post of the day award …. it goes to … a really stupid & naive socialist call signed TIMBO.
So Timbo, now that you’ve been officialy recognized for your utter ignorance feel free to get a clue.
The country is falling apart because of this administration’s stupid economic practices.
If “falling apart because of this administration’s stupid economic practices” = +20 consecutive quarters of economic growth, then yes, this country fell apart because of this administration’s stupid economic practices.
P.S. if you’re doing that badly, can I hire you to come over and do my yard?
and 200,000+ vets homeless and living under bridges
How many bridges are even in this country? This (www.asce.org/reportcard/2005/page.cfm?if=22) lists it as 600k. I think that might just be highway bridges, but still you’re looking at a 1 to 3 ratio. You have to weed that down a lot before it even passes the smell test.
Besides, if they’re living under a bridge, they have a home. Just not a very good one. Like I said, they could come starve on my front lawn. I would post it on YouTube and they would be internet celebrities.
Andrew Sullivan is a great blogger. http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/
You people are arrogant ignorant assholes. There are 200,000 homeless vets. O’Reilly even admitted it on his show. It is a fact. Too bad you wimps don’t give a crap about a single one of them. Plus, what about the nearly 30,0000 and counting seriously injured troops in Iraq. You people just think you know the truth but you are really pathetic cowards hiding from the truth. Thank God most Americans understand the Iraq War because you people sure don’t.
Well, Timbo, since you seem to speak for them, why don’t you rally them in Washington, D.C.? 200,000 would make a fine march on Washington.
Oh, I know. They’re all in wheel chairs. Forgive me if many of the veterans who normally post here (including me) stay home. It’s not that we don’t care, Tim, it’s that we don’t expect the Government to help us. We’re an independent lot. We’re “Conservative.”
There are 200,000 homeless vets. O’Reilly even admitted it on his show.
You don’t take O’Reilly’s word as fiat. Why do you expect us to?
Either way your citation is 1. a leftwing website 2. O’Reilly saying “right” in the course of a conversation not “yes, Timbo, you actually do know what you’re talking about.”
You’ve also now switched it to just “200,000 homeless vets.” 200k homeless vets living under bridges implies that’s merely one segment of it and there are far more. You’re changing your argument to accommodate yourself.
To sum up,
1. I don’t rely on O’Reilly as the final word on anything any more than you do.
2. You still don’t know what you’re talking about.
P.S. are you willing to do my lawn or not? I can only hold this job open for so long.
You’ve also now switched it to just “200,000 homeless vets.” 200k homeless vets living under bridges implies that’s merely one segment of it and there are far more. You’re changing your argument to accommodate yourself.
So as long as these homeless vets are sleeping under a bridge it is ok? 200,000 homeless vets is a bad thing and a massive number whether they are all sleeping under bridges or not. If you gave a crap you would be wanting the Bush or McCain do something about this instead of trying to pretend the problem does not exist. Go ahead and wish away 200,000 homeless U.S. veterans. Keep voting for the jerk who will sustain a pointless iraq war so more soldiers can sustain horrible injuries and return home only to become broke and homeless themselves.

And you have the stats from where? And are you a vet, (which I doubt)? And you’ve polled those losers on the street corners with the fatigue jackets and signs who are under 40 but “I served in Nam”? Go to Move On or KOZ and spout your ignorant blathering.
The satire here just keeps getting more and more funny. Timbo writes better and funnier satire that Frank or Harvey!!
I’m worried though, that someday you people are going to go too far, and provoke real lefties to comment.
Timbo, if you really care that much for Veterans affairs, go volunteer at a VA hospital, etc. Don’t wait for McBushHitler, or a bankrupt Congress, or the next President.
However, it’s your Iraq war statement in #50 that gives you away. That’s your real agenda, I think.
As critical as most Conservatives are of Bush, you’ll find most of us are on the side of “too little – too late” So, you won’t get much sympathy here. As my father used to say, “You’re beating your gums.” Move along now, son.
Somethings just make you go “what the hell?”. O_O
To the presidents of both America and Mexico: fix your own damned countries!!!
Barricading OUR southern border would put an end to so many problems that it would be idiotic not to build a fence between America and Me-HEE-co.
Is there some forbidden love affair going between Pres. Bush and Calderon? Seriously, all the attention is going to the boyfriends and not the faithful Wife (America). Jackass.
So as long as these homeless vets are sleeping under a bridge it is ok? 200,000 homeless vets is a bad thing and a massive number whether they are all sleeping under bridges or not.
Yes, but it’s also a number you have yet to back up and by implying there were this many merely sleeping under bridges, you were implying the problem was far worse.
I realize for you specific stats might not have any real meaning, but that’s what you were called billshit on and that’s the argument Edwards made, so you don’t offer much of a defense of it, or of an attack on our side, by backtracking.
I’m not that picky about lawn-cutters, but I prefer stand up men! Don’t weasel on me Timbo or you might lose this opportunity.
To any vet that expects a nanny state to take care of you after you serve, I say meet Timbo. He’s for you. To all of you vets who served for completely different reasons, like defense of liberty and your loved ones, I say, Bravo. You are true warriors. Timbo doesn’t understand. But that’s OK.
And does TIMBO stand for Tiny Impotent Man-Boy Observer? I could be wrong, but not likely.
I think we need to use a big dose of “Troll B Gone” here.
#36: the two are mutually exclusive?
#23: don’t worry so much about that. When we rebuild Mexico, we’ll just hire a bunch of illegal Mexican immigrants to do it. . . and we can put the hiring offices HERE IN THE STATES. That way, ALL you have to do to qualify to join the rebuilders team is prove you’re an illegal immigrant.
I think what Ernie is saying, Capitalist, is that some engineers are impractical. Witness the hoards of idiot engineers at Microsoft responsible for Windoze. I could argue that they’re also dumber than a box of rocks, thus I’m left with… you’re right! “No, they’re not mutually exclusive.”
OK, but, I think we need at least 500,000 IMAO troups to stage this Mexican revolution. We gotta form an advancing line with tanks, shoulder-fired, laser-guided missiles, helicopter gunships. The whole nine yards. We gotta keep their farms, women and restaurants intact, too. Would this be OK?
You know, ’cause an army runs on its stomach – and penis.
Hey asshole if a soldier gets injured fighting for our country he deserves to be taken care of. Bush and many other Republican assholes have tried to screw over vets on their benefits. The Republicans also like to ignore brain injuries and emotional trauma that happens to a large number of our soldiers. Some soldiers come back so screwed up that they can’t get or hold jobs and they end up homeless. Excuse me for caring fers. Wow you people are just fing disgusting jerkoffs. You just want our soldiers to go get shot at cause you love war so much. You probably even laugh at all the suicides among our troops over there.
So you don’t want to mow my lawn?
I realize for you specific stats might not have any real meaning, but that’s what you were called billshit on and that’s the argument Edwards made, so you don’t offer much of a defense of it, or of an attack on our side, by backtracking.
You weren’t calling bullshit you were using bullshit by trying to make whether the 200,000 homeless veterans sleep under bridges or not an issue. You have been sptting out bullshit ever since I brought up the homeless issue because you don’t want to hear it — the far right doesn’t want to hear any of the truthful negatives about how hard this war has been on our troops. The
US Department of Veterans Affairs estimates that there are 200,000 homeless veterans in the U.S. on any given night and that nearly 400,000 experience homelessness over the course of a year.
You know, ’cause an army runs on its stomach – and penis.
What army runs on a penis?
Asshole? Have you served your country? Or are you just demanding stuff on behalf of others so you can feel like some big, caring, policially correct bigshot kid? Kiss my VietNam-era ass.
I think you’re the asshole. Real veterans here know what I’m talkin’ about, kiddo. You, on the other hand, have some kind of wacko political agenda consisting of delusions of grandeur by promoting a cause you know nothing about. Take a hike down by your nearest lake and jump in.

Well, the Russians in WW2 did. Ask German women and they’ll explain.
Wow…. after all that, Timbo… are you still here?
I sincerely wish this guy was actually Frank or somebody… but sadly, liberals are actually this stupid.
Timbore… learn: you’re not going to change minds. You’re not going to get anyone “thinking.” you’re not smart enough to do either of those things. You certainly don’t have the advantage of motivational or persuasive skill. Now go away.
This thread is a real downer. Hey let’s talk about something fun. Like chocolate! It’s so delicious!
Nate: got one? I didn’t think so.
Nate: got one? I didn’t think so.
Got one what? I hope you are not implying that I don’t have a penis because that’s mean and rude and it would make me unhappy with you.
Nate: got one? I didn’t think so.

An army runs on testosterone, Nate. It’s what drives us to protect our wives, our babies, our neighbors, our communities, our country, and all the ideals we hold dear. It’s why you’re here.
I really don’t care if you’re happy with me or not, son. But have a lovely day.
to make whether the 200,000 homeless veterans sleep under bridges or not an issue
It’s the argument you made, don’t blame me if you can’t defend it. If you can’t don’t argue it in these threads.
OMG. A giant Pterodactyl just pooped on Jimmy. Poor Jimmy. He is covered in Pterodactyl poo.
WAL,
There are in fact 400,000 homeless veterans in a given year and 200,000 homeless veterans on any given night according to the US Department of Veterans Affairs. It’s sad and Republicans aren’t doing anything about. National Guard troops are also killing themselves in Iraq at an alarming rate and Republicans love to ignore that fact too.
If you can’t don’t argue it in these threads.
Just because of you WAL I’m going to be coming back every single day to provide more facts about how the Republicans (and ignorant fools like you that support them) are destroying our military and letting troops die and sustain horrific injuries (nearly 30,000 horrific injuries so far).
[You can come back every day for a year and quote crap, but you’re not going to convince anyone you care about the troops. You obviously don’t know anyone in the military and just see their pain as statistics to help fight for your pathetic little viewpoints. -Ed.]
SUCK ON MCCAIN RIGHT WING POFLECKS!
Psst… Timbore —
if you’re going to provide these “facts,” kindly cite a source that isn’t some dumbass lib site. Like, I dunno, a government census or something.
Otherwise, it’s just one moron quoting another moron, possibly quoting another. Proof of nothing but that when morons get together, they fill the sh!twagon.
How many homeless veterans are there?
Although accurate numbers are impossible to come by — no one keeps national records on homeless veterans — the VA estimates that nearly 200,000 veterans are homeless on any given night. And nearly 400,000 experience homelessness over the course of a year. Conservatively, one out of every three homeless men who is sleeping in a doorway, alley or box in our cities and rural communities has put on a uniform and served this country. According to the National Survey of Homeless Assistance Providers and Clients (U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness and the Urban Institute, 1999), veterans account for 23% of all homeless people in America.
Why are veterans homeless?
In addition to the complex set of factors affecting all homelessness — extreme shortage of affordable housing, livable income, and access to health care — a large number of displaced and at-risk veterans live with lingering effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder* and substance abuse, compounded by a lack of family and social support networks.
A top priority is secure, safe, clean housing that offers a supportive environment which is free of drugs and alcohol.
While “most homeless people are single, unaffiliated men … most housing money in existing federal homelessness programs, in contrast, is devoted to helping homeless families or homeless women with dependant children,” according to “Is Homelessness a Housing Problem?” in Understanding Homelessness: New Policy and Research Perspectives, published by Fannie Mae Foundation in 1997.
http://www.nchv.org/background.cfm
*My personal note – most of the 30,000 seriously injured troops in Iraq have sustained head injuries meaning care for our injured veterans is more important than ever. Bush and his asshole GOP friends (and the jerks like you people who support/vote for them) have consistently tried to cut veteran benefits. For that info go look it up. It’s easy to find if you are concerned. You probably won’t because like I said before you people simply do not care. You just want to droll on and on and on about how great the Iraq War is even though all that is happening is our troops are dying and sustaining horrific head injuries while trying to stop Sunnis and Shias from killing each other.
You all suck massively.
Hey, WAL, Timbo is a massively effective blogging tool and I’m covered with Pterodactyl poop!! 🙂 ROFLMA ^ 2.
There are in fact 400,000 homeless veterans in a given year and 200,000 homeless veterans on any given night according to the US Department of Veterans Affairs.
See, now if you would have argued that to begin with we would have had a much simpler discussion. But that’s not what you argued, you fudged it to imply there were more. You didn’t get away with that and you won’t in the future, sorry.
It is pitiable that this is the current state, but while you’re tossing out facts, you might also want to mention that according to Veterans Affairs these are by and large Vietnam vets, few are, as you imply above, Iraq vets–We need to do more about it, but to the extent you want to lay the blame at Bush, it can equally be laid at the feet of Bill Clinton or any past President.
Just because of you WAL I’m going to be coming back every single day
Famous last words – from our exchange this time I’m not too worried (if you really become too much of an annoyance, Frank’s perfectly capable of banning you), but I’ve heard it before and I’ll hear it again from better trolls. Let me offer some advice, though, that if you do come back, try to get some information for these discussions from a better place than Think Progress.
That’s what you get Jimmy. Now apologize to me for saying I don’t have a penis and all will be forgiven.
For instance, if you want to blame George Bush for something, it’s really best not to cite a study from 1997.
Show me Nate, my young lad, and I will. ‘Cause your postings here leave a man in doubt. 🙂
Did a little research
http://www.index.va.gov/search/va/va_search.jsp?QT=200%2C000
That 200,000 figure dates back to at least 2001 if not earlier.
Refresh my memory, how much were you berating Clinton for his heartlessness towards homeless vets?
I’m glad I’m not homeless.
I hope the economy rebounds soon! That would be awesome! Only 0.6 GDP last quarter. We can do better! At least gas prices went down some – under $3
#86- how much were you berating Clinton for his heartlessness towards homeless vets?
He wasn’t. No one was. You see, as I’m sure you & just about everyone who is wise enough not to trust the news for their news realize that Democratic administrations cannot be held responsible for what they do at any given point in time. The notion that Clinton could ever be associated with Walter Reed or any other fiasco that has been a problem long before Jan. 20, 2001 is ridiculous.
*The levies in NO give way during Katrina, it’s W’s fault. It doesn’t matter that Clinton, along with his super awesome assault on the nations defense, also repeatedly axed monies for the Army Corps of Engineers.
*Global warming wasn’t a big issue from 1992-2000, bit after Bush took office, the United states was the biggest contributor to global climate change (LOL!!!) and it was Bush’s fault. That’s also how Bush was responsible for Katrina forming to begin with.
*9/11 happens and, again, it’s Bush’s fault. Somehow, he & Cheney managed to plot a major crisis in 8 short months. It wasn’t because of Clinton’s ignorance, or even bin Laden; it was a neo-con plot.
No-bid Halliburton contracts under Clinton were never heard about. Hell, most of the country had no idea what a “Halliburton” was. No-bid Halliburton contracts under Bush? Scandal! Conspiracy! Outrage!
200,00+ veterans “living under bridges” took a back seat to midnight basketball under Bill Clinton.
#67 That is, the ones that survived the Russian penis.
If we’d just annex Mexico, we’d have a real tiny southern border.
Yeah they have more natural resources than the US per square mile anyways. Tiny border and more resources = win win
Global warming wasn’t a big issue from 1992-2000, bit after Bush took office, the United states was the biggest contributor to global climate change (LOL!!!) and it was Bush’s fault.
Bush was considered a big polluter way before he took office. He polluted Texas and made the people who live there very sad.
That’s also how Bush was responsible for Katrina forming to begin with.
That’s ridiculous. The president can’t make hurricanes.
This is how. I love reading about weather and science.
In the beginning, a disturbance forms in the atmosphere, developing into an area of low atmospheric pressure. Winds begin to move into the center of the storm seedling from surrounding areas of higher air pressure. Warm water heats the air, and it rises as it nears the center.
The ocean feeds warmth and moisture into the developing storm, providing energy that causes the warm air in the center to rise faster. It condenses high in the atmosphere, creating thunderstorms.
If conditions are favorable, a tropical depression develops into a tropical storm, then finally into a hurricane, which is not unlike a giant swirling mass of thunderstorms.
As rising air in the storm’s center condenses, it produces heat, forcing it to rise even faster. The air is pushed out the top — much like smoke out the chimney of a fire — and more air has to rush in at the surface to take its place. This kicks the ocean up more and, well, you can see that the storm essentially feeds on itself.
I sure wish there was a way to stop hurricanes but its sort of like trying to get raindrops back into a cloud.
Timbuthead,
I will have you know that I am around Veterans
almost 24/7. I am married to a retired 100% service connected disabled American veteran (Vietnam). He has had no trouble being taken care of by the American Government. They take care of him at no expense to us and guess what Timbuthead we don’t live under a bridge. We live in a nice comfortable home as do all the veterans we know and who also are taken care of by Our Government. Anymore I practically live in Veterans hospitals and a lot of them are much better than civilian hospitals. The care they give those veterans is just fantastic. They treat each and every veteran as a special person(at no charge to the veteran)When I read each and every post that you have written in this blog, the madder I get.
If you don’t like the American government, then get the hell out of America!!!
I happen to love America and the Government that keeps my husband alive to live another day. Oh and by the way they have never cut his benefits, in fact they just upped his benefits. I don’t think you know what you are talking about, I know because I live it from minute to minute, hour to hour, day to day.
I don’t know what you have been sucking on(probably those funny cigarretts that hippies ususaly are sucking on)but in fact you are the one who doesn’t care. You just like to spout out statistics that aren’t true!!! Why, because you sir( and I say this lightly) are a chickenshit!!! If the United States were under attack right now you would run as fast as you could to another country so you wouldn’t have to defend her. Save us and leave Now!!!!!
“a large number of displaced and at-risk veterans live with lingering effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder* and substance abuse, compounded by a lack of family and social support networks.”
TIMBORE: Along with the excellent arguments provided by WAL, AlanABQ, etc., I would point out simply the portion of text quoted and bolded by — you.
Post Traumatic Stress disorder doesn’t cause homelessness. Contributing factor, yes. Can it be overcome? Yes. Thousands of veterens do very well in spite of it, in fact. Alcohol abuse — the Republicans’ fault? Make that one fly.
Lack of family and social support? Also not the government’s fault. The government is a social institution — not the only social institution.
I could argue, if I wanted to use the same sort of dumbass logic that you’re using, that if the Democrats weren’t so damned committed to the destruction of the traditional family, maybe a lack of family support wouldn’t be as large a problem.
You cite figures and say it proves Conservatives don’t care. But the figures don’t say that. In fact, the figures are totally unrelated to politics on either side of the aisle.
You’re an idiot. Piss off.
Hmmmm, when you add it all up, fricken statistics add up to nothing. What counts is angels like maytag, heroes like her hubby, and freedom. Freedom: the most basic of our rights, but a dwindling resource when minds like Timbos’ get to outnumber the countries patriots. God Bless the troops.
Timbo – I know how to make it so we have no more homeless Veterans. Most of them are post-combat vets. So, we simply remove the combat part. On our next war (Iran and North Korea, I’m looking at yew), we bypass the combat escalation and all that messy diplomacy and stuff and move straight to a massive tactical nuclear strike followed by dancing a happy jig, eating hamburgers, and punching hippies.
There would be no PTSD Vets from that war although the possibility that some of the North Koreans might turn into flesh-eating zombies from all the radiation has me a little worried. But not much since they don’t have any oil and I don’t think they make any good TV shows or anything. South Korea is where they animate The Simpsons so we need to take good care of them.
Sorry I’m late for the discussion, and yes Frank, I have a note from my Mom.
Man there’s so much to say.
Timbo, for you to accuse conservatives and/or Republicans and/or Bush supporters of not caring about wounded veterans is ludicrous. Most of these people are our sons, brothers, uncles and dads.
Don’t confuse the fact that, even though America is a representative republic (not a democracy), we conservatives are often not well represented by our elected officials.
The neglect or abuse of our wounded veterans is a travesty. (Right thinking people understand this instictively). Congress should go the extra mile to help those who truly cannot help themselves. Unfortunately the VA, like most federal government bureaucracies, is a fat, bloated sow.
As someone with a son currently on active duty in Baghdad, I support the troops in both word and deed.
On a side note, these three comments speak volumes. Frank, what do you say?

[Why? Just because trolls would be forced to moderate their tone and not be allowed to purposely sow strife and discord?]

“If we’d just annex Mexico, we’d have a real tiny southern border.”
well… at least George guy is thinking straight, even if he didn’t read past post #39…
By the way, there is no easy answer to the problem of homeless people with mental problems. That situation will not change much as long as these people have the option to refuse help, medication and/or rehabilitation.
Forced institutionalization is not a great solution. It is so Red Chinese, and we don’t want to go down that road.
Likewise, throwing more money at the problem is no guarantee of success.
PTSD is a hard issue to deal with, but it’s not insurmountable. Many have suffered through it in the past, but time has a way of dulling the effects of certain traumas, if you allow it to. Unfortunately, we all live in a world where we get inundated by strictly negative news & images of the war by the press. That keeps the bad memories fresh in the minds of those who suffer psychological problems stemming from combat experience.
When you combine a terrible experience with the way Hollywood & the MSM constantly treat military people like heartless murderers one minute and ignorant victims of an “illegal war” the next, then you have a cycle of self doubt, guilt and emotional rage.
What Bush’s war detractors don’t want to say is that so many of these so-called “homeless vets living under bridges” are veterans of Vietnam, and remind me, any leftards reading this, who began that conflict?
Earth to Timbo. We have Democrat Congress. Congress is the one that appropriates money. Why didn’t that Democrat Congress stick a little something in there for the homeless vets under bridges when they were stuffing the stimulus package?
AH, don’t worry – that Democrat congress has yet another chance when the 1.4 billion stimulus package for Mexico comes up. They can allocate the whole package to homeless vets living under bridges and send Mexico 1 roll of barb wire! Start writing your Senators and Congress right now. You know how they listen!
I don’t know if they’re all veterans, but somebody has been living under the bridges in this country. They’re pushing the trolls out of their natural habitat, and the trolls have been ending up here.
What other explanation is there?
yeah, ever heard of the coming recession?
Hey, I don’t care about the veterans or military people at all. My only sorrow is that they’re not all dead. 😉
However, I find it telling that even the Conservative, who supposedly revere these murderers of the military, don’t care about the fact that so many of them are homeless and without any sort of medical insurance. Guess they served their purpose, huh? I love the fact that life turns out like this for these losers, but maybe some of them were drafted!

wow. An idiot -and- a coward. Awesome. Thanks for taking your hands out of your pants long enough to type, asshole. You can get back to jerking off to pics of your mom now.
