Nervous Laughter

Do you get this feeling when all the conservatives are laughing at Obama’s “change” — his Clinton-retread cabinet choices and how it looks like he’s not going to overhaul as many Bush’s policies as promised — they’re really just thinking, “Crap; he’s not going to be as big a disaster as we thought.”

I mean, I still hold out hope he’s going to be liberal enough to be a huge disaster, but I’m getting a little nervous.

  1. I know what you mean [For my Senate hearings later, I’m saying “I understand him” not that I hope the country goes to hell . . . quit bugging me] – but whatever Obama wants to do, he’s going to have a large Democratic majority in Congress sending bills to him, so he even if he doesn’t want to delve into liberal utopia, he’s going to have that being pushed upon him.

On the bright side, we get to see the liberal trolls and true believers who’ve been shilling for him be completely screwed over.

  2. It’s true, Frank, it’s horribly true! If he does everything the democrats tell him to do, he will probably only suck as much as your average democrat and not the incompetent ‘2 years in the senate’ train wreck I had gotten out the popcorn for.

But then, wasn’t his voting record 96% with democratic party lines? So I think we already knew he was just going to appoint some more experienced people (like Biden) and let them run the show.

Of course, Bush surrounded himself with competent people, and look where it got all of them.

  3. Don’t worry, he will continue to talk about the middle, but when he (and the ultra-liberal congress) get around to passing bills, they will be along the lines of master Karl(and I don’t mean Rove)

  4. At the rate Obama is breaking campaign promises he’ll be more conservative than Bush by inauguration day. He’s not going to close Gitmo, he’s not going to retreat from Iraq, he’s not going to repeal “don’t ask don’t tell”, liberals are already freaking out and marching in the streets.

I’m just waiting for the announcement that he’s not going to raise taxes or play the race card anymore.

  5. He will have his Harriet Myers moment, though, when the base realizes what a dillweed he is and turns against him for the first time. The bigger they are, the harder they fall.

And eventually, even Democrats may get tired of the race victim crap.

    Or maybe not.

  6. Actually you incredibly ignorant people on the right and the stupid idiots on the far left are the ones everybody is laughing at. With Obama moving to the right it means you will NEVER get to take back the White House in 2012. You know with the genius Clintons involved this is going to be an administration that knows how to govern and knows how to retain power. All of Limbaugh’s dreams of a conservative revolution are being quickly eroded by Obama’s brilliance of moving slightly right of center.

You writers here have absolutely zero political insight whatsoever. It would serve you best to move on to some other subject matter. I mean — HELLO loser — Fred Thompson? The guy could not even campaign. And now… and now… and now…. and now get this… and now… he is going to RETURN TO ACTING. HA HA HA HA HA HA.

Hooray. Feel the power of the American CENTER as we push the stupid far right and stupid far right so very far away from power. You and Daily Kos should get together because you have more in common than you think loser. To most Americans the things you write in this blog are as dumb and stupid as the things Kos writers in his dumb blog.

IMAO+Daily Kos kissing in a tree!!

[How old are you and what is your occupation. -Ed.]

  7. Come and listen to a story about a man named Barak
A poor Affirmative Action dolt, barely kept his mind off Crack,
Then one day he was Walkin out of Harvard,
And up through the crowd came a puppet makin gang.

Politics that is, black gold, Clinton Style.

Well the first thing you know ol Barak’s a millionaire,
Kinfolk said “Barak, we want some hope and change over there”
Said “Chicago is the place you ought to be”
So they loaded up on racism and moved to Illinois.

Chi town that is. Dirty Politics, Gangsters, Black Power Radicalism, America haters….

  8. Gee, #7 could be a:

    (a) A Bell-curve Democrat
    (b) A Bell-curve Republican
    (c) A giddy “centrist” ignoramus “independent”
    (d) All of the above.

I’ve always thought that a “centrist” is a person genuinely confused about political issues, and like any animal in a herd, seeks a safe position within the group to conceal their weakness to predators.

#7: Feeling the power of average. So, Obama is an average centrist messiah, now, eh? Don’t tell him that.

  9. “You know with the genius Clintons involved this is going to be an administration that knows how to govern and knows how to retain power.”

Newt Gingrich and the Republicans of 1994 say “hi”

  10. Glad to see Obama moving to the center! Very good! Clinton is a smart choice. I hope we can get Mitt Romney to run in 2012 so our Republican leaders don’t look like clowns. All that Palin and Joe the Plumber stuff was a real embarassment. I’m glad Newt stood up and said Palin will not be the choice in 2012. She really just needs to shut up and stay in Alaska. I hope this blog has learned its lessons and will distant itself from backing people like Sarah Palin in the future.

  11. Michael lets news people tell him what to think. How’s it feel knowing your brain is in good the hands of Wolfey Blitzers Romper Room? hahaaaa

    Friggin kids.

Forget 2012. Clinton had a Reagan Economy to slide through life on. There are real problems today and the dems don’t know how to solve problems. Look at your embarrassing history. LBJ, Carter. What a joke.

  12. I’m just relieved that all that stuff about Obama being pals with terrorists or weak on national security is clearly not true. Now here is making moderate appointments. I found some great conservative blogs that were not spreading this stuff and those are the blogs I will be reading from now on. This blog isn’t one of them.

  13. Personally I just think this is the calm before the storm…

I think he is evil and devious enough to make it look like he’s on the side of both aisles..or toward the center..and then ‘drop the bomb’ so to speak….but…

wow what a skeptic I am.. ( with good reason, though, given all the promises he’s already made and broken and his general character..or lack of it ..)

  14. “I’m just relieved that all that stuff about Obama being pals with terrorists or weak on national security is clearly not true. Now here is making moderate appointments.”

Why would you believe that’s not true? Ayers just said a week ago (now that the election’s over) that he considered himself and the Obamas to be family friends.

This just shows that Obama is more of an opportunist (hopefully) than a true believer.

    As Jim Geraghty said:

“All Barack Obama Statements Come With an Expiration Date. All Of Them.”

“I will be reading from now on. This blog isn’t one of them.”

Here’s a tip in coherency – when you comment in reply to a post on a blog, it doesn’t do much to make your case that you don’t read that blog.

Out of curiosity, what are these “great conservative blogs” that you’ve found?

  15. Obama is tossing flowers in the path ahead of himself as he goes to his annointment.

He is not going to govern from the center but he is going to appear to for about six months. That is shrewd.

By starting near the center he initially weakens both the left and the right. They will be no reason to oppose his appointments of judges or officials. In three or four months his administration will be organized with experience people in place. The media will have elevated him above the mere Gods.

At that point he will begin precision demolition of what he opposes and calm introduction of what he wants. He will work domestically in small steps – the boil a frog approach. He will probably (with the help of Congress) sabotage card check – giving lip service while stopping passage; it is such a bad idea even Democratic leaders realize it. To compensate he will help unions in other ways.

I expect similar lip service to the ideals of the left while quietly smothering what he doesn’t want in the congressional committee mazes.

In foreign affairs he will probably signal that Israel will not be supported and Taiwan defended. But he will do popular things, inexpensive things, like going after the pirates with enthusiasm. The US is overextended and we are not going to run the world. He won’t try.

  16. #14
    Moderate appointments?
    Like who?

    #7
All you proved is that Karl Rove is right and this is a center-right country which is a lot closer to conservative values than the liberal BS that Obama believes in

  17. I’d also bet your booty that many conservatives are downright disappointed at Obama’s center leanings. Outraged that they don’t have more to put on their Web sites. They are cursing the illuminati left under their breath for not being more evil, vile and radical according to plan. “How are we supposed to believe he’s the antichrist now? Gosh!”

  18. #27 – Tommy,
I’d much rather think he was a ‘dark lord’ than the anti-christ!

‘One speech to fool them all.
    Another speech to blind them.
A third speech to screw them all,
And a final speech to grind them.
    In the land of DeeCee
    where the Deals are made.’

  19. I’m confused. Since when are Hillary Clinton, Tom Daschle, Rahm Emanuel, etc. moderates. He’s nominated strictly far-left wackos so far, so why would anyone analyze that as “moving to the middle”?

  20. The Treasury Sec. pick mollified Wall St. a little.

The NYC liberals there buy the lie
that it was Clinton who made the economy
hum like a White House intern.

    Yes, the economy was good,
but it was the growth in technology
    that bumped the economy upwards,
not the Clintonistas that Obama is bringing abord.

  21. “I don’t think the next four years are going to be Carter’s second term. Obama seems smarter than Carter.”

People forget this, but among Carter’s many problems, “brains” actually wasn’t one of them. In fact, it was a talking point during his campaign. He did well in the Naval Academy, went to Georgia Tech, trained to be an engineer on a nuclear submarine, blah blah blah.

Herbert Hoover touted himself as the first Stanford graduate whereas Truman never graduated from college (though VDH makes the case he actually was a pretty smart guy). I have no doubt Obama’s clever. I also have no doubt he’s arrogant well past his intelligence. He gets a dear in the headlights look whenever he’s asked a question that doesn’t presume his preexisting beliefs. I have very serious doubts he knows jack shit when it comes to economics and a number of other areas. All of the above is not a great combination.

  22. Terry Jim. Exactly, thank Bill Gates and crew for the 90’s economy. I know. I was working in the industry. Anyone that could find their way to work was working. btw-The treasury pick had absolutely nothing to do with the 6% rally on Friday.

WAL. Exactly. If Obama does anything but throw money out of helicopters on us, he will deepen the recession.

Anyone interested in wall street goings on, check out Todd Harrison’s (and some other folks) articles on http://www.minyanville.com

  23. well i think u are all so jealous that Obama is off to an incredible start by picking Hillary Clinton who was repeatedly praised conservatives and blue collar peeps in the primaries. team of rivals is so brilliant it makes u cry

Bored now. I will leave knowing you are full of jealousness. You are all just bitter because you want obama to fail. That’s not going to happens. its also very unpatriotic cause he’s our president. its not like Bush when he had to have the supreme court say he won. Obama won 4 real!

    **Barack Obama** Squee!

  24. Pingback: Getting a Little Nervous About Obama | The Blog of Record

  25. A final prediction for this thread.

The Obama will be just like Bush. And the morons who voted for change will be just as happy with ObamaBush. Cause they didn’t vote on the issues anyway. They voted to keep their fantasies alive.

    Nothing but mob mentality here.

  26. I think Obama is pre-emptively posturing himself as a moderate because he has already begun his 2012 re-election campaign. He will not do much of anything that blatantly combines the worst of Wilson, Roosevelt, and Carter until he has either secured a second term, or is handed a suitably epic crisis to proclaim himself the way out of it. Until then, I expect he will strengthen his position with a bunch of nutcake federal appointments, quiet reorganization of agencies, and signing a few distasteful but largely watered-down bills.

The correct response to someone who thinks he can just sit there and build up his position:

    ZERGLING RUSH KEKEKEKEKE!!

  27. Mmm, so we are going to have Bill Clinton in the national spotlight again…

Yeah, that will be a disaster. We will find out he was humping Queen Noor of Saudi Arabia, and all hell will break loose or something. Seriouly, the man is a walking disaster area, and probably even worse without all that responsibility to hold him back like it did when he was President.

And that is assumign Barack doesn’t cheat either. Now this ain’t factual, exactly, but the last time i got the feeling that a guy running for president was a cheating type was John Edwards. Something about the arrogance and the adulation, for having done just about nothing, and vanity, gives you that feeling. now, no one is quite as vain as Edwards, but still… i get that vibe.

But Frank, seriously, we have to hope we are wrong and he won’t be a disaster.

  28. #44 A.W. “that is assumign Barack doesn’t cheat either.”

You have seen its wife right? I don’t know if it would cheat with edawrds, but c’mon it has to do something to stay away from that.

  29. So, does this dweeb really think that the Grifter’s from BumbFrick Arkansas won’t be the center of attention during his entire term? Hillary will cut his stones off and have them served up to him during the first State Dinner with some 3rd rate dictator from some nothing country in the hinterland while Bubba comments from the sidelines for the press! I can’t wait!!!!

  30. There’s always something to laugh about. And they’re always at stake.

“I’m just relieved that all that stuff about Obama being pals with terrorists or weak on national security is clearly not true.”

What led you to this erroneous belief?

“Now here is making moderate appointments.”

Oh yes, Rahm DeadFish (Dead! Dead! Dead!) Emanuel the moderate, Hitlery Klintoon, the moderate, Tom Daschle the moderate – you keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

“I found some great conservative blogs that were not spreading this stuff and those are the blogs I will be reading from now on.”

    No you didn’t.

“This blog isn’t one of them.”

    Buh-bye 🙂

  31. Don’t worry, he’ll blow it. Just give him time.

The obamassiah can’t move far enough to the left to satisfy his base, and can’t move far enough to the center to satisfy the mainstream. The demographics don’t overlap enough. Eventually one group or another will become disillusioned, even as he goes ballistic trying to satisfy them both.

    Then comes bucket time.

  32. The Baby Messiah isn’t even in office yet and I’m getting a chuckle out of the libs with their “I OD’d on Botox” smiles, as they attempt to restrain their desire to riot in the streets over the No Change appointees.

Obama is a “Me” kinda guy. He’ll do and say anything to get where he wants to be. Now that he’s almost in the White House, he’ll do and say anything to stay there. It’s just a hoot to watch the worshippers get that wake-up call.

  33. George guy says:
    November 24th, 2008 at 8:15 am

What is with the latest breed of trolls?
    _____________________________________

The only thing worse than a sore loser George….. a sore Winner! Is it any wonder we point at them and laugh.

  34. Dang, I didn’t know smiley’s did that..

ussjimmycarter: Personally, I think the clintons will be quite happy running around the world filling up their Swiss bank accounts as the female is now Chief Extortionist.
But you may be right and they do have eyes on getting back into the White House, in which case you couldn’t be right enough. Those two are some serious evil.

  35. What a revelation. What if in all the furror the moonbats have elected another four years of Bush afterall? Talk about the ultimate in payback. I know it offends the senses but, what if…. Barak Hussein Obusha?

  36. I’m willing to bet Obama is nothing more than a ‘poll hugger’. Just like Clinton was. Meaning he will have a special team taking polls on everything he does and will stick to the highest percentage no matter what direction that may be. It’s all about the glory for him, he will NEVER do anything that will make his popularity drop in the polls. In a way that may be fortunate for all of us, he may be an actual president ‘of the people’, so long as they keep polling the conservative base.

  37. Eric. Obama has already changed Change we need to We Need Your Change (too) as in money. And he has changed ‘Yes We Can’ into “No We Can’t” as in Where’d this dadblamed economic problem come from…If only I would have know about it before I made all those campaign promises.

    – Forget tax changes, Forget Iraq, Put more military into Afgramistan, forget Gitmo, forget putting an additional tax on business chasing the imaginary global warming thingamabob.
Forget ALL that stuff. LOL !

And the suckair isn’t even in the White House yet!! You’re damn right it’s Barak Obusha !! And it’s hilarious. !!!

    friggin kids.

  38. cinci-bob, the only reason these promises cant happen soon enough is because the federal government is broke, and contrary to bloggos here he is not stupid. he knows they are bad guys in gitmo, he knows you dont put the cart before the horse and this is not a time to take but a time to give (it is the holiday season) give him 2 years when the consumer confidence is up and even G.M. starts registering a high enough profit to actually pay taxes, then the left wing nut (which i love) will come out. he will tax George’s wealthy 1%, and give to you cinci-bob, i do wish you will return it when he does, go give it back to oil companies, bank execs and health insurers since they made it fair and square

secondly lovely post 58. that is one thing i’m sure of about obama. above all he is a politician, maybe the most hardcore, Machiavellian politican. he puts karl rove to shame. he will follow those polls, keep the people who are in the majority happy. and when theres a split, all he needs is one of his speeches. get ready, because when obama is done, people will have little use for mediums like this i.e. a republican blog other than to read past posts and laugh at your posts and how wrong they were

  39. friendly neighbourhood troll – I said it was hilarious that he’s canceled all of his campaign promises before he was even in the White House, I wasn’t making predictions, but we can go that route if you wish..

You say “the only reason these promises can’t be kept, bla bla bla” Do you really believe that ??? Any intelligent person knew what was coming at least a year ago, and you say Obama couldn’t have known about it before Nov 5, 2008???????? Holy Carp. How much stupidity are you willing to accept in a leader, er I mean Puppet, of the free world. He’ll be stuffin your butt with telephone poles and YOU’LL be apologizing for it !

    Lol !

But Hey, Come on back in your forecasted two years when you predict the Messiah has everything fixed, and we’ll chomp on it some more. !

btw- There are a hell of a lot of people making more than 250k. Dude, can’t you even keep to the script? Or do you not know there are oodles of people making more than 250k? Hell, there are a hell of a lot more than 1% that do over a million.

    Friggin kids.

  40. IMAO sucks donkey balls. You people are full of crap. Obama is no liberal just look at the team he is building. Freakn losers all of ya!

[uh-uh, you do – no you are – he is too – and no we aren’t all losers, Just Cadet Happy – Ed.]
