Detroit in Ruins

A very special video from Steven Crowder. That place looks worse that Baghdad after sustained bombing.

It’s the kind of place that’s spooky in the day and you expect to be overrun with vampires and mutants at night.

  1. well, parts of California are next. here in silicon valley, housing prices are still starting at 250k for a fixer upper, but an hour away (Stockton) an identical hose will sell for 40k. and there are more cities like Stockton than like San Jose.

  2. …and you expect to be overrun with vampires and mutants at night

And zombies. You forgot the zombies.

…although how in the hell anyone can forget the Detroit zombie hordes once they’ve experienced ’em is beyond me.

  3. Poverty and entitlement programs do not cause people to ransack houses, inject heroine and murder other people.
    Culture does.

Financial situation doesn’t change the way people behave.
    Culture does.

Economic recessions never ruined great countries, cultural recessions had.

I was born in Soviet Russia, and although we had to “work” almost for free and couldn’t buy a loaf of bread (for there was none to be found in the market – you could get caviar via “connections” though), we never lost our dignity. Never. But in places like Zimbabwe (Rhodesia), the minute the grown-ups have left, the society’s savage nature took over. Detroit is the same thing. It’s about people, culture and society. Not economics. American conservatives just can’t get it, and this will be their doom.

  4. Wow! And to think that when I was last in Detroit, just 30 years ago, those same streets were teeming with thugs and robbers all plying their trade. The entrepreneurial spirit of the hard working and dedicated thieves and killers has been crushed and replaced with an entitlement mindset as the kids move straight from high school to the prisons without ever doing a dishonest days work.

What a sad state of affairs!

  5. I was hoping he’d go to Flint Michigan. I’ve seen plenty of urban decay pics of Detroit and Gary Indiana, etc. on the intertubes. Ghost towns are one thing but ghost cities are pretty freaky.

  6. “A teenager is more likely to go to prison than graduate high school.”!!!????

    I’m speechless.

Hey, I’ve got an idea. Let’s make John Conyers in the House and Carl Levin in the Senate part of the federal govt. leadership!

  7. Detroit is a very good place to hold the next Democrat convention. It would rid of us of most libbies, and the zombies woul;d starve from lack of brains to eat.

    But imagine zombie Pelosi? Brrr..

Detroit is every libearl’s fantasy. It is the penutlimate of their policies.

  8. [Flashback, about a bar he frequented during the war]
Ted Striker: It was a rough place – the seediest dive on the wharf. Populated with every reject and cutthroat from Bombay to Calcutta. It’s worse than Detroit. (True in 1980 and true today)

  9. @ Capitalist_B, Starnesville is EXACTLY what was going through my mind while watching Crowder.

Other than that, I am dumbstruck and don’t know what to say.

Except to storm1911 that I’m with ImperialDave…I thought the Nancy Pelosi we all know and loathe WAS a zombie…you’re telling me…it could be worse? Other than that…yeah, I got nothin’.
