Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY-29) is resigning over charges he sexually harassed a male staff member.
Never one to miss the opportunity to joke about a homosexual sex scandal involving a married politician, Tonight Show host Jay Leno included this in his monologue.
Oops! My bad. Silly me for thinking Leno would make a joke about a Democrat U.S. Congressman in a sex scandal, rather than a Republican state politician.
But, no, there’s no bias on NBC.

i don’t think your surprise here is genuine…..
I live in Massa’s district. Between Massa and the new stuff with Patterson, the dems are going to have a fun time in November.
He messed up last week and allowed Sarah Palin to look good, he needed to make up for it with his lefty masters at GE.
Not surprising, but Leno is not nearly as bad as Letterman. Letterman is a weasel. Can’t even watch the dude’s show.
I don’t watch either anymore. Haven’t watched Letterman since the 80s.
This, in a roundabout way, reminds me of an episode of Boston Legal I was watching last night. The plot line was about a “shock-jock” who was fired for making negative comments about the elderly. During the trial, Candace Bergen’s character made a reference to Ann Coulter, insinuating that she had blatantly called John Edwards a fag, to which the defendant went on a tangent about how no one listens to Ann Coulter & went on and on about her irrelevance.
Now, aside from the fact that she never actually called Silky Pony a fag, what struck me was that since this was supposedly about a controversial radio personality, the mention of the hugely popular (and furiously hated by the left) Rush Limbaugh was conspicuously absent: Ann Coulter is not a talk radio host, whereas Rush is – to the tune of 20 million listeners since the 90’s.
So why the diatribe against someone who’s better known for being a meticulous author rather than a conservative who “spews hate on the airwaves”? Of course, we all know there are several obvious answers to that, but I still thought it was a funny way of avoiding the issue, which Jay Leno & the rest of the media lapdogs seem to have down to a science.
If anyone has been following the apparent take down of Governor Patterson, then this latest coup for this detractors is disguesting. I don’t even live in New York, but of course I read the Times, the Post and the Daily News each and every day. Can his enemies, no, not even his enemies, just people who wanteed him out of the way to push their own agenda, could have acted any more indecent? If this is New York Politics, I am glad I live in the Federal City. What has occurred to Governor Patterson is outrageous. I hope for the People of New York, it was worth it to the victors off the spoils. Governor Paterson, you are well out of it. Let them fall on their faces. Get yourself together, take a break and watch their karma come back to haunt them. This was ridiculous. Hold your head up proudly as you make your exit. I’ll bet you Governor Patterson’s phone is ringing off the hook with the “I’m sorry, and is there anything I can do to help you” Ugh! POWER & PEOPLE! They make me sick! Why couldn’t he have run and then just legitmately lost the election. Afterall it is up to the New Yorkers am I right? If he were so terrible, why was he run out of office in this underhanded way.
I honestly don’t think Leno is that bad. He certainly makes fun of liberals more than Letterman, Stewart, and the others do.
Yeah, poor Jay. Those Republicans sure screwed things up in this country for so many years. We need to get behind Obama so that he can change America to make it possible for, say, a mediocre stand-up comedian to have the opportunity to work hard and become a millionaire, because that could never happen today, so Obama needs to change…uh…umm…oh, wait…
They don’t call it the National Barack Channel for no reason….
Rep. Massa has a 25 year career in the Air Force (Don’t ask, don’t tell), finds out he has cancer, THEN starts sexually harassing male underlings?
What else does he have on His ‘bucket list’?
The two scandals aren’t the same. One is about a supporter of gay rights sexually harrassing other men. The other is a strident foe of gay rights, having sex with other men. One is slimy, and one is hypocritical.
I didn’t watch him when Gov. Palin was on, I wouldn’t watch him if he were covering the Second Coming. His deal with NBC was wrong, selfish and perverse. He has no integrity, no honor and of course no taste. He is a Liberal Democrats and they wouldn’t know the right thing to do if someone handed it to them on a silver platter surrounded by cocaine. Of course they’d take the coke, but they still wouldn’t recognizer the right thing.
Jay is apolitical. He just wants a few laughs and a few new cars for his garage. BORING. Listen Jay Leno, do you want to matter over the next few years?
Do this – evolve into the anti- Obama, anti left, anti big gov comic. Your ratings will go through the roof. Libs will hate you. The media will mostly say you’re bad for America and all that but at the same time you’ll bury letterman in ratings. I might even watch.
or you could go with this even handed boring thing you’ve perfected – that’s good too and it does help me get to sleep well before 11:30.
Cigna, what are you spewing about? Patterson brought this on himself. Sending an aid to get a domestic violence victim to drop the charges because the accused is one of his cronies? Or are you talking about how he string armed tickets to a yankees series game and then when people found out, post dated a check?
Leno was tweeking Bill Clinton’s speeches under the table during the ’90’s. He had a hand in helping bill gloss over the Lewinski scandals. Jahy, to his crdit, has since regreted his role in that.
After hearing Rep. Massa’s remarks about Rahm Emanuel today, I officially take back my previous snarky comment.
Oops, sorry.
