Puritanical America Doesn’t Like Rapists

So the French director of the International Monetary Fund, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, was hauled off a plane at JFK just moments before takeoff because of charges of sexually assaulting a chambermaid. And of course, we have people in France lecturing us how we’re prudes, such as this statement from a European parliament member:

“In puritanical American [sic], infiltrated by rigorous Protestantism, financial misdeeds are far more tolerated than pleasures of the flesh.”

Yeah, we all know how puritanical it is where the incident took place — New York City.

And we have other Frenchies appalled at how a world leader can be arrested base merely on the accusations of some commoner.

You ever wonder if we spend too much time trying to spread American values of justice and liberty to the Middle East and not enough in Europe?

First of all, Strauss-Kahn (why does a guy have a hyphenated name? And why, for that matter, is a guy named “Dominique”?) should just feel lucky he didn’t get shot in the head, because a lot of places in America if you try to rape someone, you will get shot in the head. And we’re proud of that. No one is going to say, “I’m appalled at you and your puritanical urge to shoot a rapist in the head!” Instead, everyone is going to say, “Good shooing. Got him right in the head. That’s the bin Laden special. Now let’s chuck him in the sea.” And you can say, “But I’m head of the IMF and am a leader of global significance!” but the bullet don’t care.

Also, is it really surprising with the French’s anything goes attitude towards sex that they’d have leaders who are rapists? There’s not as much distance between eschewing any societal mores on sex and sexual assault as people might like to think. You may call the alternative “puritanical”, but if you constantly indulge your strongest animal urges with no restraint, you’re going to act like an animal. And then, in America, you get caged like an animal. And then you’ll end up around others with an anything goes attitude. They’re sophisticated.

  1. Stupid is as stupid does. Where are the statements from NOW denouncing that Eurotrash parliamentarian for not taking into account the feelings of the victim who, perhaps, maybe, didn’t find such enjoyment in “pleasures of the flesh” as they seem to define them in Europe.

And people wonder why our ancestors came over.

  2. @Basil,

Frankly, I’m a little surprised that Hollywood hasn’t already made the Roman Polanski movie…making him out to be the heroic victim, of course. Perhaps the same folks that made the Kinsey movie (the same Kinsey who’s research was stopped when it was discovered he was doing sexual experiments with kids) and tried to make him out to be a great figure.

  3. Seems to me I remember a lot of Impossible Missions Force people being shot in the head.

The difference between new yorka and france is the smelly people in new yorka are only hippies.

The difference between new yorka and America is America believes you should have a right to self protection, therefore you should have a gun.

I can see the movie title now: The illegal and the frenchman, the IMF rape story.

  4. It’s ok. He’s in Riker’s Island! He is sharing digs with other more enlightened individuals who are also sexually liberated and don’t share the puritanical restraints of most of America. And since it’s not really a big deal, I’m certain he’s being passed around and buggerd like nobody’s “buiness” having had his hyphenated fancy name changed to simple “where the bitch”… Or “now clean up that mess, b!tch”…

We should nuke France over this just to show that we are not to be messed with!

  5. As are all here, I am viscerally disgusted and angry. I’d like to do the, “How would he feel if it were his daughter…,” but I get the feeling he’s so depraved that he wouldn’t mind all that much if it were his daughter who was anally raped.

Said the corrections officer to the inmates at Rikers as he delivered Dominique unto them, “Have at ’em, boys, but make sure you share.”

PURE GOLD! Also, music to my ears. You make me so proud to be your “friend”. “fan”. Whatever.

  7. Yeah – were right basterds – hauling a nice socialist off to jail on the word of a mere woman. What were we thinking? President Obama should sit us down and give us a long lecture on how we’re acting stupidly.

  8. As much as there may be a desire to see Fat French Guy “get his” from the inmates, let us be realistic. Even putting aside any religious beliefs we may have, it is quite likely that this man, being a member of the Ruling Class, won’t have any fun times with Gay Bocephus from Harlem or Joey the Blade from Queens.

I shudder to think of the far too polite treatment Fat French Guy will undoubtedly receive from Corrections.

  9. As a Self-proclaimed Contrarian, I feel I must search for and submit a contrary view….hmmm… If I am spending $3000 per night on a Hotel room, I feel I should have reasonable expectations of hot and cold running chambermaids.
