Link of the Day: Bill O’Reilly’s Open Letter to President Obama

[High Praise! to CTCompromise]

A Personal Note to President Obama

There’s just one thing I’ll take exception to in this:

I well understand that the “tax the rich” mantra got you some political currency. But we both know that strategy will do little to stimulate anything other than jealousy.

I disagree.

“Tax the rich” is now a winning message in America, and Democrats have now proven they can ride that jealousy to power in any district (or nationally) where the voters are predominantly Johnny Punchclocks or Wanda Welfares.

The productive and entrepreneurial are officially an oppressed minority in America now.

I don’t think Bill quite gets that.

Something changed in America last week. We’ve crossed over from Atlas Shrugged Part I to Atlas Shrugged Part II.

What comes next is either Part III or chaos, fire, and blood.

  2. …How about..
port taxes on ferry rides/cruise ships
    taxes on every airplane/train ticket

and mandatory union dues…which have never done more for me than any other tax taken out of my paycheck, but always ends up in the Democrats pocket.

No wonder the only time Jesus showed violence was when he went after “the money changers” (Since Jesus is mentioned in the Quaran, I am allowed to make this reference)

  3. The EPA is shutting down coal fired electric generation plants. The EPA is shutting large parts of the most productive farmland in America because of a two inch minnow. The EPA is going after hog farms and beef feedlots because of runoff from the manure.

Obama voters mostly did not know about this. My question is simple. What will Obama voters do when their houses are dark and cold. What will they do when they go to Micky D’s and discover that the beef and pork are gone? What will they do when there is little food?

  5. Don’t forget auto sales tax on USED cars, just bought a “new” van (aka pre owned..twice) They charge sales tax here on what they say it’s worth if it get’s sold 10 times, it has sales tax paid on it…10 times. Then we pay “excise tax” (allegedly to pay for the roads) and it’s based on the “value”….instead of say the weight…oh sorry, that would make sense. I guess an expensive car wears out the roads faster than a piece of $hit car does…..or something.

  6. I’m really ‘Hearting’ Bill’s ending comment about ‘….all hell breaking loose’. You just know anything Barry is gonna do about The Economy is GOING TO BE worse than useless and non-productive.
He’s already proved it , more than once.
In fact, he is useless at just about everything he gets near, and ‘touching it’ is a death knell.
So,… when does ‘this party’ kick off? I ‘m always early to a soiree’ and wouldn’t want to be out of character……..

  7. What will Obama voters do when their houses are dark and cold. What will they do when they go to Micky D’s and discover that the beef and pork are gone? What will they do when there is little food?

    Blame Bush, obviously.

  8. Not sure where you’re coming from but if you mean owners of corporations, you’re just wrong. You’re entitled to your own opinion, but you’re not entitled to your own facts. “The productive and entrepreneurial are officially an oppressed minority in America now.” Is that supposed to be funny? Well, it is true that, among the very wealthy, those who are “job-creators” are certainly in the minority, only about 3%. The rest of the very wealthy generate their wealth from investments, capital gains, etc.,. and hoard their wealth. Trickle-down economics and the rich as job-creators are myths and lies, they have never worked and never will. The wealthy have benefited the most from the growth in the economy in recent years, but we still have millions of Americans out of work; where are those jobs that those rich people supposedly create? Now if you mean middle-class and lower-income working people, who make up the majority of people in the country, you’re wrong that they are in the minority, and to the extent that they are oppressed (with which I agree to a point), blame the conservatives and Republicans, who obviously exclusively do the bidding of the rich. Corporate profits as a component of GDP, at about $60 billion, up from about $47B in 2000, are at the highest level since the 1940s, while wages as a component of GDP, at about $44B, down from about $48B around 2000, are at the lowest level since the 1940s. So wage earners and small businesses are indeed oppressed, by the rich and the big corporations. Not by taxes, which are at historically low levels. Regarding net worth distribution, in 2010 the top 1% had about 35% of the net worth in the country, and 42% of the financial wealth; and the bottom 80% had about 11% of the net worth, and about 5% of the financial wealth. NOTE: 80%. We’re all in this together. Those in the percentile from the bottom 80% up 10% had about 12% of net worth and 11% of the financial wealth; those up 5% more had 14% of net worth and 13% of financial wealth; and those 4% up had 28% of the net worth and 30% of the financial wealth. Put another way, the top 5% in the country had 63% of the net worth, and 72% of the financial wealth. No wonder the rest of us are struggling.
