Here’s what marriage is: the God-ordained, lifelong, covenantal union between man and wife, designed to provide men, women, and children optimal stability and overall well-being. Marriage is that biologically, spiritually, and morally centered institution calculated to ensure responsible procreation and perpetuate the human race. Marriage, real marriage, represents the fundamental cornerstone of any healthy society (any society that hopes to survive, at least).
Here’s what marriage is not: Anything else.
Marriage is, in the final analysis, a religious ritual. Therefore it should not be regulated, licensed or subsidized by the government.
according to the anthropology courses i took decades ago, marriage is a social contract, devised independently in virtually every culture, for the dual purposes of protection of children and conservation of resources.

I have a hard time taking people seriously when they claim that marriage is both an inalienable right and something that the government can require a license to enter into. The government is more than just a party to a marriage under this system, you require its permission.
Once upon a time, free men and women didn’t ask permission to exercise their rights. You can’t have it both ways, not truly.
Not that it stops them from trying.
Most of the comments at the link seemed to be demanding more statistical proof of the articles conclusions.
It reminds me of the Gore-bull climate change true believers who should view the 19 year hiatus in their predicted catastrophe as a good thing, but instead deny the evidence.
