If a Republican doesn’t like guns, he doesn’t buy one.
If a Democrat doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a Republican is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat.
If a Democrat is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a Republican is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
If a Democrat is down-and-out, he wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a Republican doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels.
A Democrat demands that those they don’t like be shut down.

If a Republican is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church.
A Democrat non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.

If a Republican decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
If a Democrat decides he needs health care, he demands that the rest of us pay for his.

  1. If a Republican doesn’t like abortion, he/she can point out the obvious fact that we are talking about killing a human being, and suggests we apply already existing murder laws.

If a hypothetical Democrat didn’t like abortion… He still argues that everyone should be forced to pay for it against their will, and insists it’s sexist to do otherwise because he thinks women are too helpless and stupid to exist without the help of billion dollar corporation planned parenthood.

There blarg, fixed it for you.

  2. no Karen, you didn’t fix it. Sadly, you just made my point.

Republicans, as a party are as full of hypocrisy as the commies. Both have some policies rooted in religious dogma (be it Christianity or Marxism) and they use the Constitution and the force of government to brow beat those who disagree.

if you don’t like guns, don’t get one. if you don’t like gay sex, don’t have any, and if you don’t like abortions don’t get one. Is that so difficult? Don’t demand I accept your beliefs. don’t ask me to pay for things you can’t afford.

In a free society you have to learn to live with people who see things differently than you and let them be. Otherwise you’re no better than the communists.

  3. IDK Blarg, but I think you should read Karen’s post again. Slowly.

Alleged hypocrisy: She said “suggests”, based on her reasoning that abortion is murder. How is that hypocritical? She didn’t use words like demand, outlaw, ban, … She thinks existing laws prohibiting murder already apply to the taking of an innocent life. If she truly thinks a human fetus is a full fledged human being, her position of defending a helpless human against murder is not hypocritical. Some would call it heroic.

Murder: And while we are on the subject of law, she posted about preventing “murder”, and you answered with ad hominem accusations of hypocritical dogma and brow-beating. Based on your thesis, murder would be OK if not for religion. Wow. Arguments like that can only spring from the intellectual vacuum of a college campus. I’d love to see that backed up with coherent thought. Maybe you are purposely conflating the issue to get a rise out of us.
Enforcement of Natural Law is one of the few moral purposes of government. Enforcement of Natural Law does not infringe on your freedom. Enforcement of Natural Law enables your freedom. Killing a human is not your right, even if the NYT says it is.

Brow-beating: In case you have not noticed, the US Constitution brow-beats the government, and protects the citizen from the government. Oh wait, you have already exhibited poor reading comprehension, so you probably have not noticed that. Read it again (or maybe for the first time). Slowly.

Reasonable adults can differ on when a fetus becomes a human. Care to clarify your position on late-term abortion?

BTW, I am an atheist and a Libertarian. This “forwarded e-mail” works better with conservative and liberal rather than R & D. But even that is too subjective with modern liberals constantly trying to change the definitions of well established words. For example, liberalism used to mean freedom/Natural Law/etc, and now liberalism means Marxism. Since the Dems kicked out Joe Lieberman, they are obviously full blown Marxists bent on the destruction of our republic. No argument there. The RINOs are not much better, but at least there are a few Republicans that believe in Natural Law as it was understood by our founding fathers.

  4. HGC, while I appreciate your clever insult and passive-aggressive assertion that my disagreement is rooted in poor reading comprehension and low intelligence I invite you to reread MY post – at a speed with which you feel comfortable. I would not presume to tell you at what speed you should be reading, or at what grade level.

My point was simply that there are plenty of contradictions and hypocrisy in our party so may be we should try to address it before we go poking at others. Any party that can scuttle a perfectly good Constitutional candidacy with 1 question based on religious ideology has a serious problem. I’m not afraid of threatened by religion, nor do I think it’s a bad thing. It is, however capable of causing emotional knee-jerk reactions out of otherwise rational people.

The assertion that a fertilized egg has the same standing as a full grown human is based in religious dogma. Forcing it on others by applying laws that don’t apply is no more heroic than the communists applying murder laws to cattle or using regulations that were originally intended to keep dangerous substances out of drinking water to “save” humanity from global warming, also religious dogma to advance their agenda.

Neither the Constitution nor Natural Law confers any rights or standing to fertilized eggs. Although at some point those rights are clearly bestowed, at least having a rational conversation devoid of Christian or Marxist ideology without having your intelligence insulted or your character questioned would be a good first step.

Since you ask, I personally do not condone late term abortions. I’m not particularly fond of early ones either. Yes, the intention of the Constitution was to hold back government power, but do you honestly think it still does? At this point I think it’s only the spectre of armed revolt that keeps our government in check, not paper. I hope that changes in my lifetime.

  5. Sadly, JFK was the last Democratic President. All current Democrapic Party Members demonstrate either Socialist or Communist Ideologies and tendencies. These two are often used interchangably but have one significant difference:

SOCIALIST BELIEVE EVERYONE SHOULD RECEIVE THE EXACT SAME WAGES.
COMMUNISTS BELIEVE THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO THEMSELVES-ONLY TO EVERYONE ELSE.

Both are COLLECTIVIST in nature and desire to force everyone else to live by their standards (NONE) and scruples (ALSO NONE), and support them or leave.

So hang a Socialist, the only crime is LITTERING.

  6. Gotta say I’m kind-of on board with blage on abortion.
There are medical justifications for abortions.
Ending a life solely for the convenience of the parents is wrong and should be punished.
But those two facts don’t lead me to the “Bad All Abortions” conclusion.

  7. Hi Blarg!
I shouldn’t post after drinking, but sometimes, I just can’t resist.
Thanks for noticing I was being rude. Sorry about that. Let’s see where we agree:
    1. The establishment Republicans are corrupt and nauseating. By establishment Republicans, I mean the Boehner, McCain, and McConnell crowd (i.e big-government liberals).
    2. Being a rigid single issue voter is self-destructive… especially when your other choices are naked Marxist. Did you have a specific candidate in mind with your comment about a “a perfectly good Constitutional candidacy” being scuttled?
    3. The US Constitution has been largely circumvented, and no longer acts as a bulwark against an out of control government.
    4. A fertilized egg is not a full fledged human.
I still don’t see the Right-To-Life crowd as hypocrites, but that is because their beliefs match their actions.
Thought provoking posts are cool with me.
    Cheers

  8. 1. I am an atheist.

    2. Unborn humans have separate dna, a separate heartbeat, and separate brainwaves. To deny this is ignorant, anti-science dogma.

    3. A baby two seconds after birth is genetically and developmentally no different from a baby 2 seconds before birth. It is ignorant to claim otherwise.

    4. I support laws on murder, but if someone tried to murder me, I would be in my right to kill them. This is called ‘justifiable homicide’ or ‘self-defense’. Abortion is murder (See facts) and if an abortion is medically required to save the mother this is self-defense (IE, already covered under the law).

    5. During a first trimester abortion, the baby struggles to escape. Also, the baby’s heart rate increases, which is the same as any person or animal in horrible fear and pain.
    a. Please explain how it is possible to look at these facts and claim that no human being is dying.
    b. Explain how you feel these facts are wrong (IE: Why do you think ultra-sounds and heart beat monitors are the tools of Jesus and only used by Christiany-CHristians?)

    6. You keep saying ‘fertilized egg’ but treating all abortion past the fertilized egg stage as murder is considered pro-life. If you support abortion past that stage please explain:
    a. How abortion at that stage is not about a human child dying (And the reason you think so).
    b. Why it is okay to kill a human being at that age and why.
