Random Thoughts: Wendy Davis, Book Cover, and Upcoming Election

It’s no fun being tolerant if there isn’t someone intolerant to feel superior to.

Good solution for low information voters: Have voting booths where you push buttons and cool things light but no vote is recorded.

*tosses birth control at a woman’s face*
“There you go, honey. Vote Democrat.”

On level 606 of Candy Crush, things really get interesting.

Why we only see negative ads in politics? “No one wants to get burgers from some John Wayne Gacy-inspired clown. Paid for by Burger King.”

“Wendy Davis will always stand up for victims. Unless they’re in a wheelchair. Or if they’re a baby.”

“Wendy Davis wears pink tennis shoes. Greg Abbott doesn’t even need shoes because he can’t walk. Vote Wendy Davis.”

“A tree would never attack Wendy Davis because she’s friends with the environment. Vote Wendy Davis.”

“Greg Abbott is confined to a wheelchair, much like the villain from X-Men, Mag-Neato. Vote Wendy Davis.”

“Do we really want someone who will refuse to stand to take the oath of office? Vote Wendy Davis.”

Didn’t know I got sent this, but here is the finals for my book cover.

My book should be in bookstores on Nov. 11th. If your bookstore doesn’t have it, ask them what the hell is wrong with them. “This is exactly why Amazon is shutting all you guys down.”

With a full-time writing job lined up and a book coming out in bookstores, I’m about ready to call myself a professional writer.

The most frustrating thing about people who rant against religion is that they think they don’t have one.

I think it would be fun to have a coffee mug that says “Not A Very Good Father.”
“My kids got me it!”

Anyone have any idea what this outlet is for? Our house built in late 70s has two of them.

Getting house ready to sell and am replacing beige outlets. Why would anyone choose beige? “I want everything to be the color of sadness.”

Okay. Googled “unknown wall outlet” and I think it may be for a connection to a rooftop TV antenna.

CONS: A nut. Not very bright.
PROS: Pink tennis shoes.

I think the reason most people look on abortion as a bad thing is that most people aren’t sociopaths.

If you want to talk about abortion as a good thing that should be celebrated, definitely avoid talking about the actual mechanics of it.

The reason people are repelled by abortions is it involves violently ripping apart a tiny human. Society will never get past that.

It would be cool if they did a biopic of Nic Cage. My idea for stunt casting for the lead: Nic Cage.

Really thrilled to see some Democrats get defeated this November. Kinda meh on seeing Republicans get elected, though.

If everything goes to plan, I’ll be moving from ID to TX week before election. Doesn’t seem proper to vote in either state.

  1. Whatever that outlet is for will have to be low voltage and low power. Exposed male connectors low where a small kid can reach just screams “shock me now!”.

Here’s a link to a site where someone asked a similar question, but without a photo. The links provided in the answer are dead.

If they were meant for speakers, there would be two of these close together somewhere, intended to be where the output from the amplifier was plugged in. But speaker power can be pretty high, and I can’t imagine anyone would expose male connectors for them. I’ve had a stereo system where the power output from the amplifier was as high as 600 watts, with the maximum supply voltage of 135 volts. That’s “kill your toddler” high.

If it were meant for phone, there would be four connections.

Personally, I’d vote for intercom. It’s the only thing I can think of that would have low enough voltage and power to risk exposed male connectors. We had one in one of the houses I grew up in (not wired into the wall) that operated on a single 9 volt battery back in the mid/late 1970s. It used two wires, and was awful to try to talk over, so we used just its buzz feature so my parents didn’t have to come upstairs to get my attention (stair well was closed off by a door, and my bedroom door was normally closed, so I couldn’t hear them yelling over my music). Modern intercoms are at least 3 wire, which allows for a balanced connector which gives better sound intelligibility. Is there an intercom at the front door? It is possible that they were intended to connect two rooms, such as a bedroom and living room, via table top type intercoms. Do you have the ability to trace them? Like, connect one to a 9 volt battery, and then check the others with a multimeter.

  2. Just saw your line about outlet possibly being for a rooftop antennae, and I wouldn’t expect that they’d dead end what would essentially be the conductor for a lightning rod inside your home, not to mention the possible fire hazard of pumping a lightning strike on the antennae through the walls.

  3. My book should be in bookstores on Nov. 11th. If your bookstore doesn’t have it, ask them what the hell is wrong with them. “This is exactly why Amazon is shutting all you guys down.”

I delivered this rant recently at a Barnes & Noble. My daughter wanted to lend her Homelanders series by Andrew Klavan to a friend, but we couldn’t find the final book, so I tried to replace it. B&N not only did not have the book at the time, they had never had it, or any part of the series, or any other book by Klavan (this part was announced rather smugly). Klavan wins Edgar awards! Two of his books have been turned into films – one starring Clint Eastwood, one starring Michael Douglas. The Homelanders series has been optioned for film. Since when don’t bookstores capitalize on movie versions of novels? Since the novelist self-identifies as a conservative, apparently. I went through the same nonsense trying to buy an Ann Coulter book there. Stupid business deserves to die.

  4. The connection to the rooftop antenna that my dad had installed in our house, built in 1976, has three wires.

And the whole lightening bolt path to every TV in your house thing? Two answers: It was the ’70s; they did stuff like build water heaters where you couldn’t get to them without tearing out a little sheetrock (at least in one condo I lived in the ’80s that I think was built in the ’70s). Also, there is (now at least) a lightening diverter for your outside antenna. Hopefully, it would be the latter, instead of the former.
