IMAO Reader Survey #28

Memorial Day has passed, and June is underway. We aren’t always able to take a vacation every year, but many of us take a special trip when we can. Our country has great places to visit in every state. If we’re able to get away, it’s often hard to choose between the many places to go.

Where is your dream vacation spot?

  1. Driving through the Texas Hill Country in May when the bluebonnets, Indian paintbrushes, and other wildflowers are in full bloom. Autumn in the Northeast US is only a pale comparison.

  2. I generally stay at the Flamingo, maybe the Cromwell if I gather enough points. My play is usually Pai Gow so you can’t really mess with the odds much there. It is basically a break even game anyway. If I venture away from that game I certainly try to avoid the Dens of Bad Odds and that’s fairly easily done although you do limit where you end up having to play. I generally just like people watching, enjoying the food and taking in the kitsch that is Las Vegas. I generally avoid Fremont Street although there are a couple of good restaurants down there both reasonably priced and good food. You can gamble a bit down there depending upon your game of choice but, once again, choices get limited if you are looking for the best odds. Vegas, like most places, can be enjoyed if you know what to look for, know your bankroll and know how to avoid the usual scams for the “Tourists”. My friends and I have been going there since the 80’s and we have been able to enjoy ourselves quite well. Occasionally I even come home with more money then I went with.

  3. I chose America’s grandeur, for those who chose no CNN/MSNBC, the Grand Canyon et al. don’t show them.

I do wonder why you didn’t include a pilgrimage to the house where FrnakJ was born in the list of great American destinations.
