So Obama really walked into it when he said “The private sector is doing fine.” Of course, it doesn’t sound as bad in context of the full quote:
“As far as I’m capable of caring, the private sector is doing fine… certainly given the perspective I don’t even want there to be a private sector. Hey, you going to eat that Chihuahua or can I have it? Oh, man, I did way too much blow this morning.”
Actually, what Obama’s main point was is that there has been a lot of reduction in government jobs. So basically his “private sector doing fine” remark was a whine that government isn’t as big as he wants. So it’s not that he’s out of touch with how the economy affects regular Americans, it’s just that he doesn’t care about in comparison with expansion of the government and his power. That’s been a lot of the Obama presidency: the American people not lining up their cares and concerns with Obama’s. That’s why Obamacare was such a huge hassle to get passed. If only Obama could find a citizenry that thought like he did. Maybe he and the OWS crowd can go form their own country of unlimited government. I bet they’d have a great time with it right up until they all freeze to death during the first winter.

Mmmmmm…let’s say we have a giant stimulus that goes to states and municipalities instead of roads and infrastructure. Then, let’s say that these government entities hire some people with the $800 billion they’ve received. Then, let’s say that after the Obama money goes away, they hire fewer people.
Well, then, President Obama would whine about government sector hiring.
You’re right. We don’t deserve Obama. We should send him away someplace where people are more compliant. Bad, bad us.
I bet they’d have a great time with it right up until they all freeze to death during the first winter.
Then the man drowsed off into what seemed to him the most comfortable and satisfying sleep he had ever known. He dreamt of Lenin saying, “I love you”, to which he would respond, “Thank you.” The dog sat facing him and waiting. The brief day drew to a close in a long, slow twilight. There were no signs of a fire to be made, and, besides, never in the dog’s experience had it known a man to sit like that in the snow and make no fire. As the twilight drew on, its eager yearning for the fire mastered it, and with a great lifting and shifting of forefeet, it whined softly, then flattened its ears down in anticipation of being eaten by the man. But the man remained silent. Later, the dog whined loudly. And still later it crept close to the man and caught the scent of death. This made the animal bristle and back away. A little longer it delayed, howling under the stars that leaped and danced and shone brightly in the cold sky. Then it turned and trotted up the trail in the direction of the camp it knew, where were the more competent food-providers and fire-providers.
“How’s it doing?”
“Doin’ fine. Lasts a long time.”
“And the President?”
“He ain’t worth a dime this time.”
“Thank you, Herman.”
Obama’s sure that the economy is doing well because everyone he knows has seen an increase in income, they’re taking more vacations, flying in chefs for special meals, buying expensive clothes…his wife, his daughters, everyone.
Saturday he gave a speech where he blamed Republicans for the state of the economy. It seems the Republicans weren’t willing to go forward with his big idea of hiring a boatload of new public school teachers.
Now we may or may not need a few more teachers, but the man actually thinks increasing the public sector is going to stimulate the economy.
The economy is like a wagon that we all pull. Up on the wagon we have room to put the sick and the old, maybe some people to steer etc. But Obama seems to think the problem is we don’t have enough people up on the wagon shouting “PULL”.
If I was a Democrat, I’d be asking “you spent four trillion dollars a year, who got that money if you couldn’t maintain the current staffing levels?” Since I’m not a Democrat, I get sufficient outrage from the first 7 words.
The welfare leech next door to me is pushing 300 lbs, she’s got her own apartment, with a door, so that makes her private sector?….right? Maybe even a sector and a half. She’s doing just fine. I’ve only seen her like 3 times (when everything is handed to you for nothing, you rarely have to leave) and each time she’s even fatter, how dare you crackers question whether she’s doing fine.
Now if you people get your way and all the hard working union cops are fired, who’s going to come the next time her boyfriend shows up and wants to get some….free stuff? Bet you didn’t think of that, did you?
Marko, where was it exactly that our hero, the dog, found competent food and fire providers?
We give them California! The state’s already halfway there. (I’d say New York, but I don’t want more liberals here.)
