I am now in the new IMAO headquarters in Boise, Idaho, and expect to return to regular posting tomorrow. I’m not sure who this concerns, but post times will still be Eastern time for continuity sake. I have two In My Worlds™ and a number of other posts brewing in my head I’m dying to get out there, so hopefully it will be fun. A lot of stuff has been happening the past two weeks and I’m tired of not getting my word in. We do have a president to pick, and it’s our American duty to make sure he kicks ass (and is a he).
Thanks to all the IMAO bloggers who kept things going while I’m gone with special thanks to Spacemonkey for doing research into more Fred Thompson facts and to Harvey for his always solid blogging (which will continue, of course). Also, I plan to get back to more Ronin Profiles and will probably have a open casting again tomorrow.
Did any of you hear the rumor about one of the Idaho Senators? Man, I hope that’s not true. Anyway, if any of you know much about Idaho politics tell me, because I plan to be here a while I want to get involved in local politics so I can run for something some day. My brother has some connections here, but he’s heading off to Iraq again. He’s always in Iraq when I actually have use for him.
Idaho? I think I heard of that country before. Wasn’t that the one with the potatoes?
Welcome back!
Idaho…closer to God’s Country (Arizona) but…not quite…
Welcome to town, my friend. I can’t wait to be back in Boise- The Army and School have taken me far away for far too long. So true how Iraq takes the truly useful away from those who could actually use our particular talents.
Next time I’m in town, I’m buying you a beer. And let’s go shooting. You can still do those things in ID, and nobody sneers at you.
Yeah, Sen. Craig has always creeped me out a little. Now the reason seems so clear.
And yes, Rubeus, we have potatoes. Very clever. We also invented the TV. And we have the first city run entirely on nuclear power. And more millionaires per capita than the rest of the US. Not that that makes it onto our license plates.
Taters are tasty, though.
Now you can join a militia!!!one!!11
Did you have any of those in Florida?
You’re in heaven now, Frank. You can let your dog run about, shoot guns all day, the little lady can go hiking whenever. And there are big trees and giant earth formations that rise out of the ground, unlike Florida. Good for hiking and shooting backstops. But remember, it snows, and you’ll have to figure out how to drive in that. It’s really embarrassing to get pulled out of a ditch, especially by a woman. Now you’ll also need a truck, and a gun rack, and . . .
Man, I’m gonna quit my job now. I drive an hour to work in Melbourne. I didn’t mind because I new that town must kick ass because FrankJ lived there. Now, not so much.
[Yeah, sorry; I coulda warned you. -Ed.]
If you really want to fit in locally, you will need to get some brown Carhartt Coveralls. They are appropriate wear to any occasion after Labor Day.
On an side note: you should probably not let the Puppy Blender find out that you have started clubbing cottontails.
I just got done eating home-made tater soup. It was tasty.
Go Idaho!
I live in Boise…Been here since 1999.
It’s probably true about Larry Craig.
Welcome to the one of the most republican states that there is. I’ve been watching local politics for years. Not counting Boise’s northend, Sun Valley, and Latah county up north, there are probably only 17 democrats everywhere else in the whole state. And they all seem to work for the newspaper.
Are you in Boise itself or in one of the nearby towns? Either way, watch out for the 2C licence plates.
“brown Carhartt Coveralls”
I have black… the only pair I own.
I’ve been to Idaho once… camping up in Prichard (sp?) north of Coeur D’Alene right on the Coeur D’Alene river. That was freakin beautiful.
I thought y’all were moving to Texas. Take wrong turn somewhere?
Frank J?
I remember a blogger named Frank J.
He wrote a couple of posts making fun of Ron Paul and mysteriously disappeared.
All that was found was a note that said “First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they disappear, then they return, unharmed but somehow different, then they support you, then you win.”
C’mon, Frank! Switch to MST for posting times… there seem to be sooo many ronin living in the Mtn. time zone as it is, so just go native.
Sounds like I’d fit in up there; half my clothing is Carhartt. Even my baseball cap. Hell, I think I saw boots by them. Maybe that’s what I’ll ask Mrs. ABQ for as a Christmas gift.
Bush Lied! Nepotism Died!
#8 — don’t you mean 1A license plates? Everybody drives so nicely here except all these californians we’ve been importing to Boise (esp. to that north end you mention.) However, FrankJ should fit in nicely here. There’s a phrase, “Gun-toting Idaho Democrat.” It doesn’t matter which party you are here, the first thing they teach you in this state is to love guns.
The Fred Thompson facts practically write themselves.
Yes Frank, the rumors about your senator are true. Take my advice and avoid him like the plague. You do not want to be associated with a person of such questionable characterv and he never calls the next day even though he said he would.
You should switch to mountain time.
#14 The California refugees are trouble…They may Californicate Boise given enough time.
As a one time resident of Idaho and a current Californian. The lifestyle is night and day from a busy city. You get to learn peoples name and everybody says hello. I would recommend visiting the Blue Turf even though your only chance this year will be to watch Fresno and Georgia Tech play. Plus the Broncos will be following up their historic game of beating Oklahoma by going to Hawaii to play the East Carolina Pirates, what an encore. Enjoy the cold.
Dude, you drove through Utah and you didn’t come to visit me? (sniff…)
Just kidding, my kids probably would have peed on your shoes. 🙂
Did you forget to switch to the Harvey sig for that one? 🙂
Check out Clayton Cramer. He’s not much for the humor but he follows Idaho politics as well as gun rights and astronomy.
