That does look awesome. And it looked like the movie was portraying the US military as good guys? Maybe? I’m sure that was misleading from the preview, because we know Hollywood hates the United States, and especially our military.
That it does. But how much you want to bet that the villains will be Neo-Nazis or Russian separatists?
Oh well, RDJr’s take on Iron Man still looks pretty awesome. The Annual Summer Superhero Blockbusts have been pretty crappy the last 5 years.
grudgingly, Hollywood had to have him kill terrorists. But of course, they had to make him the ugliest of all ugly Americans; a sarcastic, douche-bag arms dealer (which in all fairness, he was a arms dealer in the comic book)
The part where he kills terrorists in his war-machine armor look awesome.
This movie looks awesome, or at least will be worth getting the soundtrack.
As a side note, anyone else heard about snappedshot.com?? I’m sincerely worried.
Sometimes Hollyweird gets it right. After all they can’t always be wrong. My question is where’d they get people who are well versed in the military, weapons, courage and sacrifice.
They must have imported people from outside “Pretendland”. Or maybe they talked to Marines in Berkeley. Now that’s hazardous duty, fighting the enemy everyday.
The trailer theme was, what else, Black Sabbath’s ‘Iron Man’
But before that came Audioslave’s Cochise (12 songs and 3 tiers off). Audioslave = RATM without the singer and 90% of the politics.
It’s possible they’ll y work the “ex-warmonger that has seen the light” angle until it’s older than Bush=Hitler. Then again, going back and reading some of the Iron Man and War Machine stuff, they’d even have the justification of being faithful to the source material.
Kudos on the CGI – the missile strike on the tank. Added a bit & then some on the delay for effect. Too often action movies want to have fast whiz, bang and pow that only takes away from creating any depth leaving the movie thin and frivolous.
Actually Fred Thompson doesn’t need the suit. Iron Man comics were loosely based on Freds childhood antics.
I have heard places that Hollywierd is loosing a lot of viewership. Maybe they figured it was time to bring them back. Will find out. I figure, they know that all money spends the same.
I think I’ll like it. I usually find guilty pleasure in summer superhero ‘splosionfests.
What I wanna know is when the heck will they make a Captain America movie?
People, people – calm yourselves. I haven’t seen this much misplaced enthusiasm since Fred Thompson announced.
I am here to tell you, there is no way in HELL dedicated lefty swine Robert Downey Jr. is going to play a dedicated, gun-loving patriotic American without some transformative, lefty soul-searching BS twist thrown in.
Most likely, Stark/Iron Man will serve as a metaphor for the U.S. – rich, swaggering, drunk with power, and solving the world’s problems with violent, high-tech displays of shock and awe.
I guarantee that by the end of the movie, Stark will realize that war itself is the real enemy, and he’ll turn his repulsor rays on every American tank, plane, SUV and corporate headquarters in sight.
Not if they remain true to the comic book and these days if they don’t the movie fails. Too many people have read them for there to be a lot of loony lefty baloney.
Mr. Downey has a lot of drug induced debt to pay off and he’s just not getting those leading man type roles anymore so it’s my guess he’d play Oliver North in a movie if someone paid him.
The Hollyweird left will maintain it’s ideals right up until it becomes financially prudent to throw them away. It has always been thus.
The problem is that they remain true to the CURRENT comics, not the ’60s and ’70s Marvel Age stuff we grew up on. They killed off Captain America, for God’s sake! I’m surprised they didn’t have him blow his own brains out, what with the all the pressure of being the living embodiment of the worst country on Earth.

Funny stuff.
I’d pay to see that.
It would have been infinitely cooler if Fred Thompson was in it, though.

War Machine >> Iron Man
FTW
That was cool even without sound.
(Hate this POS Dell…)

This movie will be really great, unless it’s really stupid.
I hope there’s a plot and not just a bunch of pretenses for special effects.
Frank, if it’s not worth the ten bucks, please let us know ASAP. Thanks.

It looks better than Ghost Rider, I guess.
I am camping out for this one.
