Isn’t it way too early to make Jindal a VP nominee? He’s only been governor like for a week now — sure he’s accomplished more in that week than Obama has in his couple years in the Senate — but give him time. Being VP stunts your growth; you don’t do anything while VP. Let the guy rack up some more experience getting Louisiana on the right track, and by the time he’s Obama’s age he should be unbeatable. He’s our young Reagan in waiting; let’s not waste him.

I know what his stance is on Abortion, but what is his stance on punching hippies. You know there are a ton of them in New Orleans.
I’d love to see him as VP but I really don’t think it’s fair to LA. to take him until he has had a chance to straighten things out there a bit. I also think it would be a big help to a future campaign for him to be able to point to a long, long list of accomplishments. Save him for later.
Being VP isn’t worth a warm bucket of spit…and 1/2 that if you are McCain’s VP!

Bobby Jindal is the best hope we have for conservatism, but he’s young. Let’s be patient and let him straighten out Louisiana first. Imagine what kind of clout fixing that mess would give him. It would make a great campaign plank. “I, Bobby Jindal, fixed in 8 years what it took Democrats 230 years to screw up.”
Let’s see you chose from among a host of proven, competent candidates someone one who has no history, no experience, and no credentials.

I think I’ve only commented here twice in the last few years I’ve been reading this blog but I’ve got to jump in on this one…
Jindal is NOT a Reagan in waiting. I think he’s great, I campaigned for him to get his House seat and for governor, but let’s don’t get ahead of ourselves. His recent ethics reform left a lot to be desired – they basically gutted it with a few sneaky edits so it’s not really enforceable, and instead of vetoing it and making them fix it, he let it pass.
I’m still rooting for him like I always have, but I’m also reserving a bit of skepticism, because at the end of the day, he’s still a Louisiana politician and frankly, we need to be skeptical.
No, McCain can’t waste our Governor. Let him stay here for two terms and, assuming he delivers, we can run him for POTUS in his own right.
Besides, McCain needs to be more ruthless in his selection. First he MUST pick after the Dems settle their race. Basically they have four options:
1. Obama. Forget attempting to find a ‘racial diversity’ choice. Obama will get >95% of the black vote regardless. McCain should be able to claim the vast majority of the Hispanics between his own hispandering and Obama’s weakness in that demo. Put a woman (but NOT Condi, too clever by half and would piss off conservatives already angry at McCain) on the ticket to pull a few of the frustrated Hillary supporters.
2. Hillary blows up the Democratic party. It probably won’t matter in this event but go for a black Veep for teh win. J. C. Watts would be perfect because he would be able to bring the conservatives home to McCain.
3. The Goracle. Look at the smoking ruins of the Democrat Party and see which group is more pissed. Pick accordingly. 🙂
4. Obama/Clinton or Clinton/Obama. Assuming they don’t kill each other before the election…. who cares, they lose regardless who McCain picks. Clinton’s baggage totally destroys what is left of Obama’s Hopey Change message.
I think most of this talk of Jindal is being pushed by a complete lack of leadership among conservatives. I agree he should decline the VP spot (if offered) and do his job well for now. He will be great if he can turn around LA and NO. It has been run into the ground by liberalism and corruption for so long it will be a difficult job, but if he can do it he will be VERY popular with more than just the conservatives.
Hopefully other states will see what a great conservative leadership can do and will follow suit. Here in Texas all we have is wishy-washy semi-liberals running the state, but there are several good up and comers that show great potential.
Let Jindal prove himself by turning around, if he can, that dismal swamp of corruption, hookers, and voodoo that is the Louisiana government, headquartered in an ugly office building in a city called Red Stick. If he can overcome those obstacles, he’ll probably be elected Emperor.
Clean up Louisiana? You’re talking about a state that has a level of institutional / cultural corruption that is as deep as ….oh say Tijuana, Meehiiico. Clean up Louisiana? yeah … I’ll believe that shite when I see it…..
When you’re waist deep in alligators it’s hard to remember that your original intent was to drain the swamp. If he can just wade through the shite without any of it sticking to him he’ll have worked a miracle. I lived in Norlens for 4 years. Glad to be gone. Miss the smoked sausage, not much else.
Let Jindal do what he was elected to do; straighten out NO and LA. The last thing we conservatives want to do is ruin potential by throwing him into the fire to soon, just look at what happened to Obama – Messiah to “also ran” in less than six months, which happens to be 1/4 of his political career. We don’t want, CAN’T do that to someone with Jindal’s potential, I need to say that again potential, give him a chance to prove himself.
If McCain looses this year, Jindal would be a shoe-in in 2012 as a true conservative to replace the left-wing liberal wackos in charge of 4 years of utter destruction of our way of life.
If McCain wins he’ll have 4 more years of political experience to add to his resume’.
The talking heads say every election “this one is too important” I say this time we (conservatives) are screwed no matter what. We can take the beating for 4 years and comeback stronger after the rest of the nation figures out just how wacky-wrong the left is.
confession time – yes I have a place in the woods no one knows about and most of my guns were purchased in private party transactions (i.e. no paperwork) I don’t think it will come to that in a short four years, but … neither did the French or Polish in 1940, nor eastern Europe in 1945-1950. Unlike our friends on the left I chose to learn from history.
If there was such a thing as a Democrat smart enough that the phrase “Democratic Karl Rove” made any sense, I would accuse the Democratic Karl Rove of spreading around the Bobby Jindal hype.
Bobby Jindal offers absolutely nothing right now and everything down the road. It’s too late for any kind of glowing Candidate of Tomorrow narrative to be built for him, even if the media were riding his nuts as enthusiastically as they are Obama’s. Meanwhile, 8 years down the road, the age and experience issues will both be big bold plus signs for him, as opposed to the squirrelly question marks they are now.
I’ve been really impressed by Jindal. I think he can do a lot for LA…he certainly can’t do worse than the past administration!!!
Besides, if he’s going to screw up, I’d rather he do it on a much smaller scale, not national.
But I think he will be a very, very important part of conservative-driven politics.
I’m not sure we are ready for an Indian VP. I’m reminded of a cartoon where a reporter is introducing “live from Bombay, the new POTUS”, and an Indian guy on the screen, and the viewer responding “I think they’ve taken offshoring a bit too far”. At this point in my IT career, I can’t go to the lunchroom without seeing more Indians than Custer.
Let him fix LA first – that will take a while. If he manages that, I’d love to dig him into one of our coasts, but maybe by than we could deal with an Indian-American POTUS.
She might be as old as McCain, or at least as old as HRC, but Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson from TX might be a fine VP choice for McCain. She’d pull in the females from Hillary’s camp, the conservatives, and possibly the Hispanics too, being from Texas. And unlike HRC, she’s been in her state Senate long enough to have been effective and experienced. Veep would be a nice cap to a distinguished career.
For many of the same reasons, Elizabeth Dole would also make a good running mate for McCain. Not a Congressperson, but she has run the American Red Cross. Hey, neither ladies would be worse than BHO or HRC, and both would most likely be just fine as POTUS should McCain meet with an unfortunate “accident.”
Either Hutchinson and Dole would make an excellent choice for VP. IMAO and hitnrun are right; Jindal offers great promise down the road, especially if he has any luck turning back the tide of crud and corruption that has so long been the norm in Louisiana politics.
As John Morris wrote, “McCain can’t waste our governor!” I just wish there were many, many more like him!
My mistake. Liddy Dole IS a US Senator, Rep from NC; apparently I wasn’t looking when that happened. But that and her stint as ARC head just makes her even more qualified IMHO, and Bob’s better half means she’s good people.
My other choice: Kay Bailey Hutchinson, long time Rep Senator from TX
Are you listening, McCain? Either of these fine accomplished Southern ladies on your ticket would landslide you into the Oval Office.
