Given the fact they passed over Gran Torino , I am more or less hoping Sean Penn in Milk gets the best picture. With enough notoriety, one can only hope someday there is a film made about Penn’s secret love romp with Saddam days before the Iraq war.
Hollywierd is the only market where failure doesn’t matter, as long as you promote communism. If you’re a liberal with a failed, crappy movie, but you promoted abortion, homosexuality, anti-Americanism, etc., etc., you are presented awards…even if they have to change the rules to present them to you.
I’ve got no use for Hollywood’s crap and, judging by how miserably most of their crappy movies do at the box office these days, apparently neither does anyone else.
And to add insult to injury (theirs) they honestly think we give a crap about their “political” views??
Dunno about ya’ll but I pay for them to do the ONLY thing any of them are good for…….to “pretend” on film so I can be entertained.
Most of them only have adequate brain cells to do that…..With the obvious conservative exceptions!
I can’t wait to see Gran Torino! I’m guessing…racist gun toting tough takes on poor misunderstood minority youth caught in urban blight caused by exploitation of George Bush and Dick Cheney along with the vast industrial military complex and Big Oil, Big Pharma., Guantanamo and Global Warming plus Halliburtin!!!!
The Oscars, Hollyweird’s collective self aggrandizement carnival. Complete with Joe Joe the dog faced boy (Slumdog), the bearded ladies (any and all liberal ho’s with braided pit hair) and assorted other freaks of nature. It’s the night the stars come out and frighten the children, at least until California slips into the sea.
I mostly agree with the sentiment, but I do have to say that Slumdog Millionaire was really good entertainment. It didn’t have any political message behind it or any anti-American messages. It was just a straight forward, feel-good movie. With a lot of violence.
I’m guessing by a liberal standard they were great. I have no idea what won nor do I particularly care.

The movies are nominated and voted on by the actors who stared in them. Most of them have not watched the movies in question

Very true, Frank. They never gave an Oscar to Killdozer. lol
most actors have not grown mentaly past the pretend stage. That is why they seem to be good actors.
Gran Torino was the best movie we’ve been to in years. Why wasn’t it nominated?

We The People… are so dumb we need pointy headed asshats to tell us whats good. Need ’em too tell us whats good for us also.
i’m guessing Gran Torino came out too late to be in the running, but i’m not sure…
i am sure that you should watch slumdog millionare. it was a really good movie that both my wife and i enjoyed.
Too bad the little slumdog wasn’t gay. They could have got all the marbles. Slumdog 2?

We should be so lucky.
American Carol didn’t get a nomination? Unbelievable!
