Obama a Christian?

In a recent poll, less than half of Americans identified Obama as a Christian. I wonder why after all this time people still don’t buy Obama as a Christian? Perhaps its his barely concealed hostility to all religious people.

And that he’s obviously a Muslim.

  1. Considering what constitutes “conversion” to Christianity for most evangelical protestants—i.e., a mere profession of faith in Christ without any ordinances or other outward expressions of commitment required—it is impossible to determine what religion Obama really believes in or practices, if any. It would be more accurate to say that he does not behave in a manner consistent with Christian values or teachings, but by that standard most Christians are not Christians.

As for why this question still exists…people are ignorant. That’s pretty much the explanation for everything that’s wrong with society today.

  2. The only way we have to evaluate whether or not anyone is a Christian is by their profession of faith and accompanying fruit. Obama may say some of the right words, but does he produce any of the fruits of the spirit outlined in Galations: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control? Not looking good. He certainly doesn’t have a Christian world view.

  3. Obama’s great great great great great grandfather once said “You didn’t crucify that Jesus” to a couple of Italian guys and the backlash kind of put the whole clan off religion ever since.

  4. Antodav, “You believe that there is oned God? You do well: the demons too believe and shiver. But do you want to know, hollow man, that faith without deeds is idle?” James 2:19,20 Like the man said, “going to church doesn’t make you a Christian any more than going to McDonalds makes you a hamburger.” Whether Obama is a Muslim or not, one thing is certain: he is definitely NOT a Christian.

  5. Through his espousal (via teleprompter) of the destruction of the most innocent via abortion, his support and encouragement of people who engage in unnatural acts, his mandating of theft and covetousness through usurus taxation and profligate spending–just to name three aspects–Obama could be said to be an Anti-Christian.

Funny coincidence: Obama gave the commencement address at Notre Dame in ’09…and since then, their once-fearsome football teams have been anemic. Anyone else think God Almighty is more than a mite pissed?

  6. @Ogrre: Your McDonalds similie is flawed: The church is not the forge, it is the locus for those who seek a common tempering or who are already possessed of a steeled faith. Just as those who gather at McDonalds seek to share a common enjoyment of the (secular) sacraments offered within. Faith in the constructs of Christianity, tempered and absolute, is the hallmark.

Going to a church means that a person seeks to gather with people of like beliefs.

As Obama has been tempered in a dubious, flawed, if not absolutely false, hateful permutation of Christianity and, in the so-doing, has chosen to affiliate with the congregation of Rev. Wright.

  7. @11 – I *do* seem to recall story after story through the years of Obama’s favored sports teams doing poorly.

Packers over the Bears in the NFC Championship in 2011 was particularly pleasing for this cheesehead.
