Liberalism, Mathematically Speaking

[High Praise! to Moe Lane via NRO]

Politics has a math of its own. Whereas a scientifically minded person might see things this way: One person who says 2+2=5 is an idiot; two people who think 2+2=5 are two idiots; and a million people who think 2+2=5 are a whole lot of idiots – political math works differently. Let’s work backwards: if a million people think 2+2=5, then they are not a million idiots, but a “constituency.” If they are growing in number, they are also a “movement.” And, if you were not only the first person to proclaim 2+2=5, but you were the first to persuade others, then you, my friend, are not an idiot, but a visionary.

  1. I’m totally using this next time I have to explain to a “progressive” co-worker how liberalism is a study in futility. I guess I’ll need to take crayons and puppets with me to do it right.

  2. convincing people is easy if you’re a politician.

“you are all entitled to 2+2 dollars. If you agree with me that 2+2=5 then you get $5 otherwise you get $4. Oh, we’re also instituting a new $5 math tax. If you only have $4 you’re now a criminal and will go to jail.

  3. Actually in a marxists mind 2+2 = 10 because all things must be equal.
Therefore 2 = 1+1 so 2+2 = 1+1+1+1 and since singling out the + as not being a number is racist, you must make them all the same, so the + must be broken down to ll. therefor 1ll1ll1ll1 =10! See how the marxist mind works!
