Yeah, so I was trying to sign into Gmail, when I got this pop-up nag-screen asking me to give them my cell phone number:

First – that ain’t gonna happen. They already have enough dirt on me from all the sweaty emails I’ve been sending to a certain hot redhead. But that’s not the point, here.
Second – why are they using a picture of a Google employee sending my information to a NSA agent’s iPhone?
Or is that not what this picture is supposed to represent?

I got one of those too.
Are they trying to steal LifeLock’s thunder?
Weird.
Why doesn’t Google just ask the NSA for your number?
Microsoft Hotmail devoted a couple of months of their time trying to find out what other email address or addresses I have, via pop-up, every single time I tried to log in.
They eventually either gave up, or went the aforementioned NSA route.
Why specifically a mobile phone? Why not a just ask for a phone number? \
That makes me very suspicious that there’s a hidden agenda.
That, and the fact that it’s Google.

Or maybe he’s just trying to start a trend: “they’re terribly comfortable. I think everyone will be wearing them in the future”
