Proof ‘n’ Demagoguin’ (Song Parody)

(To the tune of “Puff, The Magic Dragon,” by Leonard Lipton and Peter Yarrow)

Proof, for all their draggin’
Eluded D.C.
And politics one atom missed:
A speck called honesty.

Liberal wacky papers
Loved that Russia stuff
And bought the lies
In thin disguise
And could not get enough.

The papers, for all their braggin’
Live by deceit
The few folks who bought them missed
That thing called honesty.

It inevitably unraveled
Ahab had no whale;
Lackeys kept a lookout for
The next gigantic tale.

Troubled kingpins & print hacks
Who bowed to Clinton’s name
Pirated chips and covered their tracks
When time to put up came.

Oh.

Proof, the holy grail was
Ever out of reach
Infuriating all the libs
Who wanted to impeach.

Drag-ons live forever
And so do liberal ploys;
But canned ringers and canary singers
Make way for other noise.

One Grey Lady happened
To tally up the score:
And its puff-piece journalism
Ceased that “maybe” roar.

Heads were bent in conference
The people had not been tricked:
Truth, to them, seemed suddenly
Like something cherry-picked.

Without their life-long influence
The press could not be persuade;
And they, with all their affluence,
Had debts that could not be paid.

Oh, proof, that magic talisman
In spite of D.C.
Is established in our legal code
In a thing called honesty.

  1. Rats, to master a debate,
    In sinking ship or clown car
    Perhaps collapse under their own weight
    Like a nutria star

    They might not mind to be defined
    A thingularity
    Uncertain and somewhat hard to find
    In Gallup polarity
