Conservative Concerns About Palin

I notice I’ve been getting a lot of comments on IMAO by conservatives who have reservations about John McCain’s running mate, Governor Sarah Palin. I thought I might post some here and respond to them.

I am a conservative who is voting for McCain, but I am now concerned that he will lose because of he nominated the inexperienced Palin. We need to write letters to him to urge him to pick someone else.
Once again, I am a conservative.

I hear your concerns, but all the polling shows McCain having a huge boost since picking Palin. Also, Palin does quite well experience wise when compared to Obama which only highlights his lack of accomplishments when compared to how much Palin had done in a relatively short time.

I am a conservative who enjoys tax cuts and the shooting of the gun, but I can no longer support McCain now that he has taken the scandal ridden Palin as his running mate. The National Enquirer is going to expose her affair and sink her. This is of great concern to me since I am a conservative like you.

While it’s nice to hear from a tax-cutting, NRA-supporting conservative like myself, I think you may be blowing things out of proportion. Palin has had some minor issues which don’t count as scandals, and the National Enquirer has no evidence of an affair and has based its findings on pure speculation (unlike when they exposed John Edwards). This is nothing any conservative should worry about.

I am a conservative who likes NASCAR and racism and being a stoopid hillbilly. I love Palin because she’s a religious extremist like me who wants to destroy science and teach creationism. She also hates condoms! She is greatest! Me conservative!

Palin only ever said she would support talking about creationism if a student brought it up in class, and I don’t even know where the hates condoms idea comes from. You must be getting your information from places like the Daily Kos, which is an odd place for a conservative to go. You should be careful about place that deal in false information, as you could end up with some crazy views if you believe it.

I am a liberal who likes to pee on himself and loves Obama. I’m too stupid to notice he’s never accomplished anything in his entire life and am going to vote for him because I’m an easily led cult follower. I like to eat my own poo. Once again, I am liberal and retarded.

We don’t get many comments from liberals, but I appreciate your honesty and candor.

  1. Actually, I read that Palin supports teaching students about condoms, which is sort of a problem since McCain and the Republican platform specifically support abstinence-only education. The whole issue just kind of bores me though. Are there really people having sex who don’t know about the existence of condoms?
    Also, I’ve been curious about something. Do you personally believe in evolution, Frank?

I’m a lifelong conservative Republican who voted for Reagan and Bush six times, but I’m leaning toward Obama because of Katrina, the Iraq “War”, and all the lynching and bombings at abortion clinics that have happened over the last eight years. I don’t think lynching is a family value, which is the true conservative way to look at things.

  4. I am also one of those conservatives people talk about.
    I am going to vote for Obama because of the whole ‘Change you can believe in’ thingy. I have to assume this means we will finally be getting rid of the stupid one and two dollar bills, and replacing them with one and two dollar coins, and that they will really be those foil coins with chocolate inside so you can eat them or spend them. Either that, or it means He is going to lower the cost of everything so I get more change back. Which ever one of those two it is, that’s good change! Stupid McCain and Palin have been completely silent on the issue. I just can’t support that.

  5. I am a livelong Conservative Republican who works at a corporation, drives a pickup truck, and loves America. However, my party loyalty has recently shifted because Palin wants to drill for oil in the most pristine and beautiful stretch of land on earth.
    By drilling in ANWR, which is like the crown jewel of panoramic vistas on this or any other planet, we would completely destroy all life as we know it and there would no longer be any point to survival – we would just be living to live. If Palin has her way, she’ll pave ANWR and probably 2 or 3 other postcard-worthy vistas on her way up there just because she has some extra asphalt. This has to stop somewhere.
    Again, I am a lifelong conservative who has been betrayed by McCain/Palin and will now vote Obama/Change and Biden/Hope.

  7. I’m a hopeful man who’s willing to change for more hope. But if I have to change, I don’t want to give up the hope I already have! So tell me, Mr. Obama, how I can change to be more hopeful without losing hope? Or can you just give me more hope? Am I supposed to change for more hope? I hope for change but I can’t change just for the sake of changing unless it gives me more hope. What happens to change when it becomes hope? Is it lost? Or can more hope lead to more change?

  9. I read on some blog that Palin is going to ban all of the pr0n as president. She will take it all off the Internet – even celebrity upskirts. You have no idea how angry that makes me. Like, what gives her the right, you know? So I won’t vote for her. I’m now with our enemies at DailyKos going around the Internet trying to spread the message about how she doesn’t know economics and explaining how she boarded a plane even after her water had broke and endangered the life of a child. I’m only telling the true stuff though that happened because I refuse to make stuff up. I’m pretty mad at her for trying to take away all the pr0n though. Like, we want our taxes lowered but we actually don’t want a fanatical loser like this woman is anywhere near military. She also is for some Alaskan splinter group that backed terrorists. She’s crazy!!!!!

  13. I’m a committed Christian conservative who has spent the last 15 years in the same church and I cannot vote for McCain/ Palin. She’s part of a crazy Christian sect that talks in tongues and stuff. I cannot be associated with someone who hangs out with such a nutty group of Christians.

    Palin doesn’t wear socks and likes to wear open toed highheels. That is the slippery slope on way to be barefoot in the kitchen which all those pentecostal crazy church going people believe. As a member of NOW, can’t support her. She is married to an eskimo, and Eskimos beat baby seals to make furry boots. As a member of PETA, can’t support that.

  16. That may be the most offensive post I’ve ever read on any blog anywhere. The overt characterizations of your quotes of both conservatives and liberals is offensive to me as an American.
    Regardless of your views, this election is critical to the future of our society; a fact duly acknowledged by those on both sides.

  18. I’m concerned about how Sara Palin is affecting the first Black President! No, not the pretend one, the real one: William J. Clinton.
    Imagine this:
    Evening in the Clinton house. Bill and Hill are relaxing on the sofa watching the news when, suddenly, the screen is filled with a picture of Sara. If you’re Bill, what do you do?
    a. Take a quick look at Hill to see if she’s watching you, waiting for you to ogle Sara so that she can bust you?
    2. Avert your eyes and pretend to read the paper, knowing that it won’t fool Hillary and she’ll bust you?
    iii. Say, the heck with it and get as much eye candy as you can before the lamp busts against your head?

  22. I saw elsewhere on this site people like seanmahere and trisha and others think gays who marry and adopt children should not be given the same tax breaks as married people. I’m sorry but that just isn’t right. Any straight person who believes they have more rights to tax breaks than a gay person is a total bigot. If you think that you are just using the Jesus excuse so you can keep money out of the hands of gay people and hoard it all for yourselves. I’m really tired of biogtry against gays. It is wrong, evil and offensive. It certainly isn’t at all the kind of thing you think about when you consider Jesus and Christianity. It sounds a lot more like a Muslim kind of thing to me so maybe you ought to change your church!!!

  23. I am a conservative from New Pennsylvania who voted for Roland Regan and both George Bushes. But I am concerned about Sarah Palen. She comes off as nasty and mean spirited. The way she swift boats Barack is a mark against us GOP conservatives.
    I think McCain should keep her from giving any more speeches or taking to reporters until after the election so that she can’t spread any more lies about Obama. That will just hurt us conservatives in the election.

  29. I’m a long, long, longtime conservative IMAO reader but now I want change really bad. I can fill it inside me. I do want gays to marry and get tons of cash for their adopted kids. I do want global warming stopped. Suddenly, I feel like Trish, seanmahairs, ussjimmycarter, wal, etc. are not my friends anymore and I need to go and jack my brain straight into dailykos and the huffpo. Suddenly I find wonkette is hysterical! I do think Sarah Palin is a brainless twit with her not knowing about the surge, Freddie Mac and the other zillions of things she is too stupid to know. I’m tremendously embarrassed it took her forever to get a piece-of-cake degree. I’m f***** pissed at yell she lied about ebay. Damn lady!!! What the hell was that? You don’t ever lie about eBay! I find it’s weird she was so stupid she got on a long plane ride after her water broke and could have killed the baby or herself.   35. Everyone knows there was only one REAL conservative in the race. Ron Paul was forced out of the race by rampant election fraud, THERE IS NO OTHER EXPLANATION. EVERY SINGLE ONLINE POLL HAD HIM WINNING WITH 98% OF THE VOTE, EVERY #$%#^%$^ ONE.
    So, if you REALLY believe in conservative values like smaller government, the fair tax, avoiding all foreign entanglements, returing to the Gold Standard and Preventing the North American Union*, you will dump McPalin and write in a REAL conservative.

I’m with Josh and I am really disappointed in the rest of you who have corrupted one such as me whom I must confess was as pure as the driven snow…but then I stumbled upon IMAO and now I am a sexual and moral deviant! There is no hope for me anymore unless I repent and take this election seriously and vote for Obama who will bring change and hope back to our country which has been without change and hope because George Bush and Dick Cheney have let Halliburten run out government so that they could get huge oil contracts in Iraq and makes lots and lots of filthy money!     I used to believe there were terrorists trying to kill Americans but now I see they’re just people in need of community organization and unconditional outreach programs

    Do you realize our unemployment rate has jumped to historic averages? Historic averages, people. I can’t tell you how angry that makes me.

    I can’t be a Republican anymore. I don’t think I can be an evangelical Christian/veteran anymore.
