As liberals got disappointed at not having a Tea Party member shoot up people, they still see opportunity in all the death — maybe they can get the ball rolling on gun control again! It’s a simple argument: “If we can take away fundamental human rights, we could possibly eliminate the .0001% chance of being in a mass shooting.” Except they’re not going to make a logical argument for obvious reasons and instead rely on emotion and propose the usual grab bag of laws that wouldn’t have stopped the tragedy (saw someone from the Brady campaign talking about gun shows even though Loughner didn’t get his gun from a gun show).
I think people are over this now, though. It used to be the left could ride a tragedy to pass for gun laws, but that doesn’t seem to work anymore as there we’ve gone past a number of shooting (usually in “gun free” zones) without any more gun control laws being passed. The majority no longer thinks you make people safer anymore by disarming them. So keep vigilant, but I think we won this one a while ago.
Because we all know what schizophrenic psychopaths respect more than infographics put out by Sarah Palin: Laws about guns! That’ll stop ’em.
Why do something silly like attack the second amendment when there’s the first amendment sitting right there, ripe for the picking?
Of course, shooting people up for no reason is illegal and doing something illegal would (to organisms with higher cognitive function) indicate a lack of regard for a law so I’m not sure how limiting speech will help. So… yeah: the liberals should be all over limiting freedoms in the name of political opportunity. “Never let a good crisis go to waste.”

If gun control didn’t happen in the last Congress, it never will.
One of the posters here once said, sorry I forget which one, ” When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.” So the marxists are going to try to make gun control an issue through the tragedy in Arizona, yet They had a lefty congress critter without security? Why? if the right is so violent, why didn’t the congress person have security? Why didn’t the gestapo search everyone in the area? Could it be because this is a freak occurrence perpetrated by some whack job who watched to many michael moore movies instead of a giant conspiracy? Could it be because the aclu has tied the hands of law enforcement to the point where a whack job can slip into an area without being profiled? Or is it just because the Arizona sun baked this kids brain and sent him over the edge and regardless of how many stupid laws are on the books, the tragedy was going to happen?
Perhaps for awhile, but with all the indoctrination in schools and media the pendulum is bound to swing back some day in the future and we should be ready.

The woman leading the charge, is a congresswoman from New York, Carolyn McCarthy. She first ran for office after two of her family members got killed in a subway shooting years ago. While I feel for her loss, if you look at pictures of the woman, or watch her speak, it is evident that the event drove her insane. She is one of the people you can tell is unbalanced, just by looking at them. Yet, she keeps getting elected. Sarah Palin needs to remember to put a target on her congressional district next race, because we can probably easily win by not running someone who is crazy looking.

I knew someone who went to South Africa on a religious mission. He told me that they didn’t have guns there. People continued to kill each other…….they just used their hands, knives, rocks and explosives. Guns, no guns…….if someone is bent on mass destruction or assassination they will use whatever is available. Cars, planes, poison, chemicals because crazy is crazy and sometimes there’s just no way to know when someone’s going to snap.
That said if we had leaders we could trust and representatives we could count on to have integrity there wouldn’t be such an undercurrent of anger among our citizen. While there are always those who will never be satisfied that fact that the average person doesn’t trust the government (national, state or local) is becoming a real problem. You want to see home grown terrorism, just wait until the feds start taking over the internet, telling us what we can eat, how much we HAVE to exercise, where we can live and what we can say. Seriously, as Admiral Yamamoto said on learning of the Pearl Harbor attack Dec 7th 1941, “I fear all we have done is awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.”
But then the left has never been very good at learning from history.
They’d rather rewrite it.
So keep vigilant, but I think we won this one a while ago.

Interesting how Gabrielle Giffords herself (I pray for her full recovery, please Lord, grant her Your healing), has long been a strong second amendment advocate. She’s certainly one of the more Conservative Democrats I’ve ever seen, in many ways. Isn’t it interesting how states and municipalities with the strictest gun laws also have the highest rates of violence, gun related and otherwise, while the opposite is also true? I guarantee that if even a fraction of the regular civilians at the Arizona massacre had been packing and properly trained, the casualties would have been far lighter, and the shooter would have CERTAINLY been among them. The instant after this psycho pulled is piece, he would have been faced with at least a dozen more guns, pointed right at his crazy head. To think that the casualties would have thus been zero would be foolish. But how many shots do you think he could have squeezed off before he himself was pumped full of lead?

I was at a fund raiser for 9-11 victims and the congresswoman from New York, Carolyn McCarthy, was there – right away she tried to turn it into a gun debate. As she approched me I told her that if her husband or son or someone else was armed on the train she would still be a housewife with a family instead of someone trying to turn me into a victim!!
