Derbyshire has an article about how 1979 is perhaps one of the most pivotal year in modern history, but completely neglects to mention the most significant event of that year: me being born.
I expect more from him…

Only in America!
Thanks. You’re the same age as my youngest daughter. With my luck, she’s probably older than you.
Thanks again for making me feel like a fossil.

He mentions you here…”In 25 years a new cohort of humanity is born, grows to maturity, and begins to accomplish things in the world.”
Now you just have to start to accomplish something…hehehe…just kidding. I didn’t even grow up for another five years.
You’re YOUNGER than my daughter????
That’s. Just. Wrong.
i was born in 1979 too! I see he hasn’t recognized us, how upsetting!
That’s also the year I graduated from high school in central PA, where I lived 10 miles away from….
Three-Mile-Island, which had a famous accident in 1979 that doomed nuclear power in America. That’s pretty significant.
photos this weekend, The Maximum Leader! well, that’s when i’ll take them, Frank will get them and need to choose.
buy the tshirts anyway! then when you see the photos you can buy them again.
Frank, i’m only 3 years older than you, at least we were born in the same decade. where’s his article on 1976? that was stinking important.
Ack! 1979??
Child.
Where’s my Geritol….

Arrrgggghhhhhhhhhh. I don’t use GREYwolf for nothing. 1954 was a pretty special year if you’re asking…..
So was 1970.
Greywolf: You’re just a young whippersnapper!!
(1953)
yeah, but were any of you born on the 10th anniversary of Kennedy’s assassination?
Friggin punk…My birthday is in 1979, man I feel neglected.
1979 here also. What month & day? Mine’s July 25.
I would try and claim 1974 was pretty good year, but it was also the year Nixon resigned.
I guess there is hope for the younger generation. Frank, you may marry my ugly grandaughter.
Yeah, ya know what they say…..age and treachery…..
Geez Frank, nothing like making me feel like an old geezer (1956)! All I can say is hey you punks, get the hell off my grass! Damn kids! Dang, where did all those years go? Let this be a lesson to you youngsters out there about the evils of sex, drugs, alcohol and rock ‘n roll. Crap, somebody get me a beer!
1979 is also the year that I turned 8, which is significant because… umm… I think I might have gotten a set of cowboy cap guns that year, fueling my life long love affair with firearms, and my hope to someday shoot a terrorist.
1979, again. Btw, my birth is obviously superior to yours, Frank. So there. (What month were you born in?)
For those who want to know, I turn a quarter century a week from tomorrow.
Bah, you’re all geezers. 1985!
And I turn a half century in nine days.
wimper…….
wow i turn 23 2 weeks from 2 days ago (Tues) ah 1981 was a special year it’s the mark of the man good ole reagan i was born during prosperity and the 80’s OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH yeah
In that case, Frank, I shall salute your quarter-century with the following poem:
Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
I laugh like mad,
‘Cause I’m younger than you!
One-quarter century
You have one week to buy gifts for Frank’s birthday. June 4th–next Friday–he’ll be 25 years old. Celebrate with a Nuke the Moon t-shirt….
Happy Birthday in advance, Frank; I probably won’t be posting that weekend (I just closed today and I’ll be moving then).
James Old Guy, why only offer him the ugly one?
Happy early B-Day, Frank. But you don’t have to return the greetings, since I was born in 1965 and really don’t want to remember mine anymore (I can see you counting up the years there)…All of you are BABIES…but somebody is rearing you right, all of you sweet, conservative, Bush-loving, right-winging cuties!!!! Go and kiss your Mamas right now and tell her thank you…the future looks bright!
This is such a relief (to all you old farts: how do you spell relief?). I was beginning to think I was the oldest person around here!!
I know! I know! R-O-L-A-I-D-S
Heehee. Good job DixieDarlin’!! 1965 was a very good year indeed!!
Not nearly Jonag. Apparently I have 20 years on Frank.
And I would have guessed far fewer years for you, based on your tshirt babe entry. On the other hand, I would have guessed a little higher because of your graciousness.
Dudes, that one was free. For those of you with children:
I think my kids got their good looks from me. Their mom still has hers.
I can’t believe I’m just giving this stuff away.
1985 here… All you Old People cant hog the Right-Wing to yourself. The Anti-Left Young Voters are here to help in 2004!
And we are grateful you are here Kyle!! Our arms are getting tired from holding the torch!
Thanks Dave, you are too kind (and funny too)!
Yeah, I was right. She’s January 24.
I can feel my arteries petrifying. And I was born on the fourteenth anniversary of the start of WWII. No, not when they invaded Poland, when Britain and France declared war.

In particular, the month of June in 1979 is the most important of all – to be even more specific, the 11th of june – to be insanely specific – 6:35am, on the 11th of June in the year of 1979 is the most important minute in history. 🙂
Thanks Greywolf and Dave in Texas for making me feel better. 1979! I was wearing very bad fashion and enjoying really good music in 1979. I like that I was born in 68′. It was a cool year. Protests, drugs, music, drugs, and more music. Good times. And drugs. Which explains why I find this website so funny. Cat sleds! bahhhhh.
And Elizabeth, of course!
Just when I was starting to feel old (just moved in to my own house- so I’m only renting, but it’s still mine! finished a year of college, etc.) Frank and the Ronins make me feel all better…
1985 was a good year indeed 🙂
I have PANTS older than you.
Yikes! I graduated high school in 1979!
Congrats on your closing NonyMouse! Have fun moving.
Back ontopic, just counted it up the other day: I’ve MOVED 25 times in my life!
And another bad anniversary, the Madrid train bombings happend on my birthday this year. 🙁
