If Fred Thompson Were in It, the Movie Would Be Called “1” and Sparta Would Win

I think I stole that from someone. Well, if you don’t want your bon mots stolen, don’t leave them out so they’re easily accessible.
Anyway, I’ve yet to see 300, but I want to. And, since it has the Iranian disapproval and the Fred Thompson approval, I guess it’s a must see (BTW, it’s good to see Fred Thompson corrected his dates from earlier today; how can we expect kids today to respect anyone who doesn’t know the correct date for battle of Thermopylae?).

  1. //But the Iranians have filed a flurry of complaints with the United Nations, claiming “300” is “cultural and psychological warfare.”//
OH NO!! THEY’VE FILED COMPLAINTS WITH THE UN!!! I guess hollywierd is in for it now. The UN may actually sanction hollywood, or write a nasty letter
I TOLD you this would be a great movie, Frank! Took you long enough to blog about it.

  2. By the way, here’s the origin of you’re article…hat tip to me, patrick and SPACEMONKEEEEEE!!
I heard Fred Thompson was the man who taught Leonidas to beat up persian faggots.

If Fred Thompson was at Thermopylae the movie would have been called 1.

and we’d all be wondering if Persia really ever existed.

    HAH!!!

  3. I don’t know why you’re all worked up about Fred Thompson. Frankly, anyone who would send lefty pig Alec Baldwin to handle the defection of a top-secret Soviet sub has judgment problems in my book.

But Alec Baldwin seems like such a great Republican since he’s started working for GE and its subsidiary NBC.

  5. 300 was excellent. Saw it on IMAX. I’m not prone to watch cinematic epics, but this was well above average. So many parallels between that very ancient time and our own that it sometimes gave me goosebumps.

  6. just saw it tonight. will probably see it again tomorrow. go Sparta!
oh, and there’s one obvious flaw in Iran’s whining over the movie: their crazy midget only wishes he was as tall as Xerxes. on stilts.
seriously, if we had a sign on all worldwide executive offices that read: “you must be this tall to get on this ride” how many problems would be solved instantaneously? you never heard of a tall guy with a napolean complex.

  7. I just don’t get the whole idea. There are three-hundred geeks in a mountain pass and the Persians attack them? What are geeks doing in a mountain pass? Mountains really interfere with wi-fi reception, and your Blackberry doesn’t work very well, either. And I don’t think that geeks would fare very well against well-trained armed men.
