IMAO 10th Blogiversary Week: Retrospective – Part 1

Year by year, some of the great posts in IMAO history:
______________

2002 – Gotta Nuke Something – Frank never actually posted his world famous Nuke the Moon essay at IMAO. He posted it to some random server and just linked it.

2003 – In My World: Rumsfeld Vows to Kill Everyone and Then Sing Kumbaya

Last Thursday, demonstrators vanadlised Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld’s New Mexico home to protest the war. Recently, protestors returned to Rumsfeld’s home again, this time decorating the trees around his home with their own entrails.

“Was this new vandalism not actually a form of protest, but in fact the result of you viciously murdering the protesters then dismembering their corpses as a warning to others?” asked a reporter at Rumsfeld’s press conference.

“My lawyers told me not to answer questions about the matter,” he answered gruffly.

“Then might we at least ask who’s blood it is that you’re currently caked in?”

“Again my lawyers told me not to answer questions about that matter.”

“Aren’t your lawyers in fact dead?”

“They kept telling me what to do.”

2004 – We Must S.M.I.T.E. Our Enemies! – Frank releases the top secret plans for his new space-based laser platform.

2005 – IMAO EXCLUSIVE: NEW SCOTUS NOMINEE – in light of Roberts’ decision on Obamacare, you might wish Frank’s prediction in this post had been correct.

2006 – End the Fear-Mongering: Facts About Muslims

2007 – IMAO invents lolterizt!

2008 – You Should Vote for Me: An Editorial by Senator Barack Obama – it’ll make you nostalgic for the days when Obama was just a struggling, unknown presidential candidate, and not the man who singelhandedly destroyed this country.j

2009 – Where Obama Went Wrong – More nostalgia, from back when Obama had only done a handful of things wrong.

2010 – Is Science! Just Pushing Us Around?

2011 – Testing Shakespeare – This one is even funnier now that the world knows about The Choom Gang.

Random Thoughts: Not Reading Too Much into the Jobs Report

It’s good people aren’t as concerned with the economy as they are with people without health insurance not being taxed.

With the way Obama keeps blaming Bush, the October surprise may be a drone strike against him.

I already know the text of Obama’s concession speech: “BOOOOOSH!!!”

So how many years does it take until a president’s economic policies are supposed to take effect?

I hope one day the left is colorblind enough to stop seeing Obama as a black president and just as a really horrible one.

Obama: “People said they wanted jobs, so I created a tax on people without health insurance. I don’t know what a job is.”

Phase 1: Tax the rich.
Phase 2: ???
Phase 3: Jobs!

The only tax that would stimulate the economy would be a tax on whining about the rich.

Obama: “It’s not my fault… it’s those ATMs! Smash an ATM with a bat and create a job!”

Obama: “My financial situation had nothing but improved the past four years, so I don’t know what you all are doing wrong.”

Obama: “Maybe you all need to take some personal responsibility and stop blaming me… when it’s not even my fault; it’s Bush’s.”

So are we having a recovery summer again or did Paul Krugman see his shadow and scurry back underground?

I didn’t read too much into any one jobs report, but added together they’re starting to form a picture of suckitude.

But what do I know. I’m not an economist. When I decided I had too much debt, I cut my spending.

Next thing we’ll see over and over: “Don’t read too much into one credit downgrade.”

Obama: “I – and I can’t stress this enough – have been completely and utterly impotent these first 4 years. But I’ll be awesome the next 4.”

Huntsman isn’t coming to the GOP convention, but Snow White still is, right?

Don’t read too much into the jobs report because it gets really depressing the longer you stare at it.

How do CEOs earn so much money when I’ve never heard of any of them?

When I think of Obama constantly pivoting to jobs, I imagine a dog chasing its tail.

I’m still blaming everything on the irresponsible financial policies of Adam.

It’s just so sincere to see Obama complaining about someone spending too much money.

Did Minnesota ever officially apologize for not voting to reelect Reagan?

Governor Jesse Ventura. Senator Al Franken. That’s the Reagan curse.

Fun fact: Minnesota used to be known for its mild winters until after 1984. ‪#ReaganCurse‬

A restaurant owner suddenly died after serving Obama. Creepy part was how Obama said to him before he died, “You’re doing fine.”

Getting corrected that the restaurant owner was a woman. I just assumed because I didn’t know women could own things.

If we build enough infrastructure we’ll need more infrastructure to get people to their jobs at building infrastructure.

I’d love to do an experiment recording reactions to a joke based on whether the subject was first told, “This is Hitler’s favorite joke.”

Actually, I’d love to do lots of humor experiments. Any university want to fund me? I’ll embezzle less than average.

I’m not really on speaking terms with my alma mater.

Oh, did I mention I graduated from Carnegie Mellon? Because that makes me sound smart. WHICH I AM!

IMAO 10th Blogiversary Week

On July 9th 2002, Frank J. posted:

Hooray! A new blog! There’s lots of stuff I felt like spouting off about, so here I am. Just as a warning, everything written here is in the most unrefined form and should not be used as an actual opinion.

Which is undoubtedly the worst first post on any blog ever.

Come to think of it, his last post wasn’t very good either.

But in between, there was a bunch of really good stuff.

Which we’ll be reminding you about incessantly all week.

Meanwhile, tell us how you’ll be celebrating IMAO 10th Blogiversary Week.

Bleeding Zombie Targets

Each Zombie is manufactured in the USA and is hand painted to accurately resemble an infected human that just finished gnawing your neighbor Zed’s leg, to give you that realistic look so you really feel the hate. What makes our Zombie’s so special? They’re filled with biodegradable matter, which makes clean up a wee-bit easier…(are you happy, mom?) …and oh yah, let’s not forget, they bleed and burst into little pieces of blood soaked, Zombie matter when you shoot them!

Fun Facts About the 50 States: Florida

Welcome to Fun Facts About the 50 States, where – week by week – I’ll be taking you on a tour around this great nation of ours, providing you with interesting, yet completely useless and probably untrue, information about each of the 50 states.

This week, we’ll be thinking to ourselves that there’s GOT to be a better way to earn tuition money just before passing out from heat stroke while wearing an unventilated Disney character costume as we visit sunny Florida, so let’s get started…

Florida state flag
Florida’s flag was originally just a red X on a white background, until Alabama told them to either put a ton of crap in the middle or face a copyright lawsuit.
  • Florida became the 27th state on March 3rd, 1845, an event which most of the state’s residents recall fondly from their childhoods.
  • Or WOULD, if it weren’t for the Alzheimer’s.
  • The knee is Florida’s official state arthritic joint.
  • The largest private employer in Florida is Disney World. The second largest is the company that makes “this ride closed for repairs” signs.
  • After the Presidential election disaster in 2000, Florida passed a law making it illegal to vote without first removing your souvenir Mickey Mouse gloves.
  • The most common cause of death in Florida is being run over by old women who mistakenly voted for Pat Buchanan.
  • The second most common is getting run over by ’57 Chevys that wash up on Miami Beach from Cuba.
  • The state bird of Florida is the Pink Flamingo, a feisty animal which is actually capable of killing a fully grown alligator, thanks to Florida’s concealed carry law.
  • Although most Floridians don’t speak with a strong southern accent, they DO tend to pronounce the word “hurricane” as “Oh, SH**!”
  • Janet Reno was born in Miami, Florida, and only returned to the state because her magic mirror told her that Elian Gonzales was fairer than she.
  • Twice yearly, Florida is victimized by uncontrollable destructive forces which lay waste to the state. These times are known as “hurricane season” and “spring break.”
  • The state reptile of Florida is the alligator, which subsists on a diet of fish, birds, and Japanese tourists.
  • The state song of Florida is “Grandpa, Don’t Wear That Speedo to the Beach.”
  • If a hurricane strikes while you’re in Florida, just hand over your wallet and no one will get hurt.
  • Spanish explorer Ponce de Leon discovered Florida in 1513 while searching for the legendary Fountain of Orange Juice.
  • Despite the fact that the temperature never gets below freezing, Florida has a professional ice hockey team, which… nah, no one’s gonna believe that one.
  • People from Florida are easy to spot on the road. They’re the ones driving around with sheets of plywood nailed over their car windows.
  • If you move to Florida, buy a house with a colorful roof so that you can easily find it after it gets blown down the street by a hurricane.
  • When visiting Sea World in Orlando, be sure to stop by the restaurant for the “slow learner sandwich” special.
  • Native Floridians never wear sunglasses because they have a special, inner third eyelid to keep out the sun’s harmful rays.
  • Florida’s Disney World is technically in a state of war with California’s Disneyland, and the two theme parks exchange nuclear strikes several times a year.
  • The University of Florida’s football team is named the Gators in honor of the millions of alligators milked each year to make Gatorade.
  • Neil Smith of Montverde, Florida, invented the riding lawn mower in 1933, adding to the list of useful things that Floridians watch get blown down the street by a hurricane.
  • The state tree of Florida is the Palm Tree – so named because that’s the part of your body that will be scraped raw if you try to climb it.
  • While in Florida, NEVER try to climb any sort of nut tree.
  • The Everglades in Florida is 2100 square miles of smelly, oozing, mosquito-infested muck. Most Florida natives still refer to it by its original name the “The Cesspool National Park.”
  • Passing the test for a driver’s license in Florida requires that you be able to make a right turn from the left lane across 3 lanes of traffic. Or so I assume from what I saw last time I was there.
  • Despite rumors to the contrary, “Florida oysters” is NOT a euphemism for boiled alligator testicles.
  • However, eating Florida oysters WILL cause you to grow a special, inner third eyelid.
  • The state flower of Florida is the Orange Blossom, which is a small, white flower with an insatiable hunger for human flesh.
  • The refrigerator was invented in Florida in 1921. This represented a great technological leap forward, as now Floridians had a place to store their melted ice cream when the power went out.

That wraps up the Florida edition of Fun Facts About the 50 States. Next week we’ll be sneaking north across the border into America’s peachiest state, Georgia.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go milk me some fresh Gatorade.

Remember 7/7

The London Bombings:

[YouTube direct link] (Viewer #147,029)

The first 1:16 is coverage from 7-6, when London was awarded the 2012 Olympics.

At 3:19, the coverage goes to the failed bombing attempts on 7-21.

The British have been our staunch allies since the beginning of this war, and as I said back in 2005:

“Bless them and pray for them, and may their swords forever drip with the blood of Mangy Mohammeds.”
