  1. “Well, the Founding Fathers owned slaves, and did you notice there weren’t any Founding MOTHERS?!!!!!!!!!11111eleventy Therefore America is guilty of the Original Sins of racism, sexism, and homophobia can’t be too far behind those two, amirite?”

  2. I went to elementary school in the mid-to-late 90s. I remember these because they were still showing them to us in school then, even though it was out-of-date (production, not message) back then. Probably had to show these since there’s nothing newer to play that delivers the same message.

  3. Monster – No Founding Mothers because, back then, women hadn’t yet been taught to be ashamed of raising children and performing domestic chores in support of their husbands’ career ambitions.

There’s a reason football teams don’t have 11 quarterbacks. Feminism doesn’t grok this.

  4. I always thought there was something suspect about their symbology for “pursuit of happiness”.
It’s too many people thinking with ‘the head that has no brain’ that’s caused half our problems.

  5. I think Russel was referring to one of the signs held by a colonist that reads,
    “NIX
    ON
    GEO III”.

I also read that about “Life, Liberty and Property”, but Adams and Jefferson didn’t want to throw a bone to the southern colonies that considered slaves ‘property’ so they changed it.
I’ve also read that “pursuit of Happiness” had a different meaning – it was more like “being free to follow your own conscience, to practice virtue, which leads to true happiness”, but that was too long to fit on a saddle-bag sticker.
Pursuit of Happiness might also mean no special privileges.
What some are allowed to pursue, all should be allowed to pursue, without regard to rank, family or class.
Despite Franklin’s reputation as a ladies man, I’m pretty d*mn sure it didn’t mean chasing women in hoop skirts.
