Accidentally

It seems Costa Rica accidentally legalized gay marriage. Really. At least, that’s what some British newspaper is reporting:

This week, the Costa Rican Legislative Assembly voted for a change to its “Law of Young People”, which covers social services and marriage laws. It was only once the bill had passed did unwitting conservative lawmakers realise that their liberal counterparts had inserted language that could open the door to civil unions for gay couples.

Oopsy!

And you thought the U.S. was the only country with politicians stupid enough to pass laws without reading them.

Now, who’s got egg on their face?

Or something.

  1. Now that they’re all on the “redefine marriage” bandwagon it’s time for all the polygamists, polyandrists, beatialitists, and other anti-traditional marriage folks to start suing for “equal protection” under the law. When people used to find out that we were Mormon they’d ask my spouse when he was going to get his other wives. His answer and I quote, “I have enough trouble with the one I have, why in heavens name would I want another?” But there are the odd fundamentalists (who are not affiliated with the LDS Church, because the practice has been banned for over a century) who think the rest of us are in denial. Surely the Warren Jeffs people and their ilk are salivating at the thought.

  2. This is why we need someone to be a sellout, and then when they pass a super-duper Obamacare-like legislation, insert a sentence repealing everything in the bill except the hidden Easter Egg clauses, such as the one repealing the tax code, and one that outlaws abortion. >.>
