So, the Weiner candidacy for mayor is going about as well as expected.
Now people are calling for him to drop out, but that’s a bad idea. This goes by the fantasy that the New York City voters are capable of electing someone who isn’t horrible. I mean, really the best you can hope from them is to elect someone who at least has some redeeming trait to go along with the horribleness… but politicians aren’t really known for having redeeming traits — especially those in New York.
No, the beauty of Mayor Carlos Danger is that everyone now knows he’s horrible — there is no one at all left with the illusion that Anthony Weiner is a decent human being. How we get in trouble with politicians is that some people are dumb enough to trust them — look at all the people who don’t understand that Obama is completely useless — but if we can finally get some politicians in office that everyone understand is horrible, then we will all do the appropriate and American thing and undermine those politicians at every step of the way.
The last thing we need is yet another politician holding power that a large segment of the population is under the false assumption he isn’t a scumbag. That’s how we’ve gotten all our problems so far.

he’s in…he’s out…he’s in…he’s out…
I believe he should learn the art of the Coverup. Haven’t we all seen enough?
I hope he stays in. Sure, it’ll be hard, but like any politician, he thinks he’ll come out on top.
I know a lot of New Yorkers would like to get Weiner in the mayor’s office, but some supporters have gone soft on him. All the stuff that’s come out is more than they can handle. Those are, I’m sure, hoping he’ll pull out. But, I suspect he’ll keep grinding away until the election reaches its climax. It won’t be a happy ending.
Having said that, I wouldn’t vote for him for a variety of reasons. Mostly because I’m not registered to vote in New York City.
Pull out? Doesn’t sound manly to me. I say, stay in there, get the job done.
Well, we did have Rudy. I guess he was a one-time thing.
He;s running in the wrong city…he should be running for mayor of San Diego.
He just doesn’t seem like he’s up for the job. Maybe his wife can stiffen his resolve.
Cmon now, how can y’all pass this up?! Weiner pressured to pull out, but stays in! brings race to ultimate climax! Says he is ready for the rubber match! City on its knees and hopes not to blow it!
“Carlos Danger” is a pathetic name for Mayor. He would get a lot more respect if he called himself “Rodney Danger”.
Electing Wiener will be yet another bold stride for Big Apple diversity! Electing the White-Latino Carlos “Danger” Peligroso in the time of the first White-Black president. Brilliant, New York, brilliant!
Hell, New Yorkers have to do something to distract from the abysmal season the Yankees are having…here’s looking at a lifetime ban for A-Rod from the middle of Dustin Pedroia’s bat!
Cheers!
BTW, according to The Dirty, Wiener chose the handle “Carlos Danger” because someone was already using “Nelson De La Rosa”!
A. Wiener’s mom never felt comfortable reprimanding him for frequent alterations to his indoor/outdoor lifestyle decisions.
Update: According to Ancestry.com, the name Carlos Danger was Anglicised from Chaim Dangerberger who, apparently, was Wiener’s great-grandfather who worked on the Lower East Side as a sausage-stuffer.
The Carlos Danger Name Generator has give me my new handle (har!): Osvaldo Verboten.
@9 The Lone Danger?
Interesting…the generator yielded the names Karl-Friedrich Gesundheitsuebergefaehrdungsmacher and Colin Contuirt.
Just typing the German name burns up a person’s twitter content.

We should write in Huma. She’s going to have him by the b@lls anyway.
