I Notice “Employers” Aren’t on the List

California legislators and labor unions reached a tentative agreement that will take the state’s minimum wage to $15 an hour.

Last one out of the state, please turn off the lights. Or do I need to write that in Spanish?

  1. The funny thing is that a month ago local news pointed out Oakland’s high minimum wage being a major contributing factor for the local Walmart closing.
Of course their reporting on the impact of the high minimum wage in Seattle included a quote from a city manager blaming the businesses for closing, “they were marginal businesses and likely to close anyway”

  2. Why, oh why, does California hate low-income workers?

It’s just mandated that these poor struggling folk must produce at least $15 worth of profit now for their employers, instead of the $10 worth of profit these low-skilled folks have gotten comfortable with.

A fifty percent increase in productivity is a lot to ask of these overstressed, hard-pressed minimum-wage earners. Some of them may already have been doing their utmost. They’ll have to leave their jobs. Others are already producing $15 worth of profit for their bosses: this won’t affect them, and their jobs are out of reach of the less qualified.

So why does California hate minimum-wage earners so much that they will squeeze them into unemployment if they can’t reach the new benchmark: being 150% more productive than they were?

  3. no need to worry about having someone turn out the lights here in #Failifornia…

Moonbeam’s “renewable energy” plan to fight global warming will ensure there isn’t enough electricity to keep things lit.
