San Jose tattoo artist fighting deportation arrested on criminal charges in Berkeley
NBC Bay Area | July 29, 2025

A San Jose tattoo artist who is facing ICE deportation …

Q: What Did The Tattoo Artist Do During the Biden Administration?

A: Deplane! Deplane!

… was arrested and is now being held for mental evaluation after authorities say he attempted three carjackings along a commercial stretch of Berkeley on Sunday.

Guillermo Media Reyes, 31, has ... served prison time for attempted murder.

At 5 a.m. Saturday, police say Reyes called 911 to report a woman screaming in a vacant house on Prince Street in Berkeley, next door to where Reyes has been staying. Police arrived and found a broken window in the back and Reyes suffering from cuts to his hand.

— and here’s my very favorite part of the story:

Officers left,

🙂

… but four hours later, a big-rig driver alerted authorities that he was approached by a shirtless man, later identified by authorities as Reyes, who allegedly stole his cell phone and tried to take his truck, which was hauling several vehicles on San Pablo Avenue. However, the truck quickly stalled, and Reyes ran off. Police say the trucker’s phone was later abandoned.

Poor phone.

But his cousin — a handheld radio — had a better fate:

Farther north on San Pablo Avenue, Reyes allegedly went into a local café’s kitchen and then to a rental car agency next door. Medics were summoned to a “medical emergency” at the cafĂ©, possibly a fentanyl overdose, according to dispatch traffic, but Reyes fled north as emergency responders arrived.

Reyes then went to the rental car office next door, authorities say, where he allegedly took a handheld radio.

… which was to benefit him how?

And: “allegedly”? Was the radio still in office after this tattoo artist left, or not? Was it later found in his (aptly named) possession?

According to police, Reyes went across the street, where firefighters saw the attempted carjacking of a Prius from a customer in line at a local bakery. A toddler was in the back seat of that victim’s car as Reyes attempted to drive off, authorities say, but the car wouldn’t start because the keys were not inside.

Fob-use-less!

Will a Democrat judge order him to Advance to Go and Collect $200?

July 18, 2025

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — In a powerful rebuke of ICE’s retaliatory efforts, a federal court today granted a preliminary injunction protecting Guillermo Medina Reyes, a beloved [Journalism!] Bay Area tattoo artist, organizer, and immigrant rights advocate, from being immediately re-detained by immigration authorities. U.S. District Judge Rita Lin’s order means that Guillermo will be provided a bond hearing before an immigration judge to determine whether or not he will remain free, and confirming that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) cannot unilaterally decide to re-detain someone in Guillermo’s position who was released on bond by an immigration judge.

King Charles ‘appalled’ by Trump remark as aides fear he will break royal protocol
Daily Express | Mon, Jul 28, 2025 | Sophia Papamavroudi

King Charles is allegedly “very concerned” that US President Donald Trump could launch into a massive rant about immigration during his second state visit to the UK in September, a source has claimed. It comes shortly after the US president sent Prime Minister Keir Starmer “advice” about the ongoing small boat crisis.

While on a private visit to Scotland, Mr Trump warned the Prime Minister that those coming across on dinghies are “bad people”, but praised efforts to end crossings. Meanwhile, after arriving in Scotland on Friday, the US politician made headlines after he declared that illegal migration is a “horrible invasion” that is “killing Europe”.

Now, civil servants have issued warnings that he could break protocol and make politicised comments during his visit to England in a few weeks.

Mr Trump is expected to deliver the traditional speech at the state banquet held in his honour by the King and Queen when he arrives.

A source who is close to the King told the Daily Beast: “Charles has spent his entire life promoting tolerance and compassion.

“He will be appalled by what Trump said on Friday, which seems to be entirely driven by his domestic agenda, and will be very concerned about the possibility of a repeat of Trump’s outburst in September.”

They added that aides fear the US president might give an impromptu interview to the media with political statements, which could put the monarch in a difficult position.

They said: “If Trump starts sounding off about the evils of immigration to the cameras while the King is standing next to him, the King would find that hard to take.”

The article refers to “King” Charles and “Prime Minister” Keir Starmer, but nowhere can bring itself to use the form “President Trump.”

Pretty thin gruel from the land of Oliver Twist.

Slidell woman arrested after purchasing luxury car, plastic surgery while on government assistance
WDSU | 7/29/2025 | Metia Carroll

SLIDELL, La. — A Slidell woman has been arrested for allegedly purchasing a Lamborghini and plastic surgery while on government assistance.

Red Flag #1, for you government employees out there.

Agents with the Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation arrested Candace Taylor, 35, of Rousset Ridge in Slidell on Monday.

Agents said they received a complaint from the Louisiana Department of Health regarding Taylor allegedly committing Medicaid Recipient Fraud.

According to the complaint, Taylor underreported her income in order to receive Medicaid benefits.

“Underreported”? That’s putting it mildly, governMensa workers:

The affidavit states that between January 2020 and December 2024, multiple of Taylor’s businesses collectively generated over $9.5 million in revenue across various accounts controlled by her.

Oh, and that’s some very prompt auditing, gov’t employees who have literally one job and can’t be bothered to do it …

In 2020, despite being approved for Medicaid and claiming to possess no income, records showed Taylor’s account recorded deposits of more than $480,000 and more than $45,000 in car payments to Audi Finance.

Really, really hard-to-find paper trails since 2020, I’m sure.

Straight Line of the Day: Help Delta Come Up With a New Excuse for Canceling Flights: …

Delta ‘claimed flight from 100f Florida airport was canceled because of ice on the runway’
UK Daily Mail | 07/28/2025 | Sonya Gugliara

Delta Air Lines has sparked an internet uproar after allegedly canceling a flight from Florida due to ‘ice on the runway’ as temperatures neared 100 degrees Fahrenheit outside.

She then reached out to the airline to ask about getting a reimbursement for her hotel room that night.

But her request was denied because the cancelation was ‘weather related,’ according to a Reddit post shared by the flier’s cousin on Sunday.

A Delta agent told the frustrated customer the flight was called off ‘due to a deicing situation, which means the runway was too slippery’ for takeoff, as shown in a message exchange included in the post.

This ‘deicing situation’ was pertaining to the runway in Orlando – where the heat was scorching.

‘The runway was covered in ice,’ the agent continued. ‘This is for safety purposes, and our top priority is the safety of our passengers.’

In response to the icy runway claim, the customer said: ‘It is 95 degrees in Orlando and 84 degrees in New York City.’

It is unclear what the airline representative wrote back to defend their offbeat argument.

‘It was hot but there wasn’t any rain in Orlando or NYC, her destination,’ the Redditor reiterated in the caption. ‘They said it was because of the ice. Huh?’

The debacle caught the attention of thousands of people, many who were just as confused and outraged as the woman and her cousin.

‘I would be on a literal warpath with Delta until the end of time if they tried to tell me they canceled my flight to/from Florida because of pretend ice in 100 degree weather,’ one person asserted.

‘Can confirm no ice anywhere on the ground in Orlando,’ a Floridan added.

Here Come DEI Judge

Obama-Appointed Judge Accused Of Fabricating Quotes Wholesale
The Daily Caller | July 28, 2025 | Natalie Sandoval

To typo is human. To falsely attribute quotes in a legal opinion is what’s alleged of U.S. District Court Judge Julien Neals.

Neals delivered an opinion June 30, 2025, which caught the eye of attorney Andrew Lichtman. Lichtman had appeared before Neals on behalf of defendants in a recent civil suit.

Lichtman issued a letter to the judge “bring[ing] to the Court’s attention a series of errors in the Opinion — including three instances in which the outcomes of cases cited in the Opinion were misstated (i.e., the motions to dismiss were granted, not denied) and numerous instances in which quotes were mistakenly attributed to decisions that do not contain such quotes.”

Wouldn’t those be covered in pre-pre-pre-pre-Law 101?

Lichtman alleges six mistakes contained in the opinion. He lists several quotes which, he claims, Neals attributed to cases wherein they do not appear.

Neals’ opinion cites City of Warwick Retirement System v. Catalent, Inc.: “The absence of insider trading is not dispositive.”

No such quote appears in the referenced document.

Lichtman also claims Neals’ opinion “attributes two quotes to Defendants that they are not alleged to have made.”

Neals withdrew his opinion following Lichtman’s letter, according to Bloomberg News.

“That opinion and order were entered in error,” reads a notice posted by the court to the case docket, Bloomberg reports. “A subsequent opinion and order will follow.”

Damned fortunate thing this wasn’t a capital murder case!

Absent comment from Neals or Lichtman, speculation plods [points?] towards the simplest explanation for the odd opinion: a bad use of artificial intelligence.

Bloomberg and The Volokh Conspiracy, a blog written by law professors and legal scholars, suggest AI may be the culprit in this case. [As in using “plods,” above?]

“I suspect there are many judges throughout the country that have issued opinions with hallucinations,” writes constitutional law professor Josh Blackman for Volokh.

LLD on LSD? Loosely In Camera With Diamonds?

“Savvy litigators should start combing through all adverse orders, and try to determine if there are obvious indicia of hallucinations. This will make excellent grounds for reversal on appeal.”

â™Ș “Indicia de Vida, Baby . . . ” â™Ș

Blackman suspects a law clerk, rather than 60-year-old Neals, was responsible for the errors.

Straight Line of the Day: Why Gardening Is Dangerous: …

Man carrying home his gardening tools arrested by armed police in Manchester
Guardian UK | 07 28 2025 | Hannah Al-Othman

A man who had returned home from his allotment with a trug of vegetables and gardening tools strapped to his belt was arrested by armed police, after a member of the public said they had seen “a man wearing khaki clothing and in possession of a knife”.

Samuel Rowe, 35, who works as a technical manager at a theatre, had come back from his allotment in Manchester earlier this month and decided to trim his hedge with one of his tools, a Japanese garden sickle, when police turned up on his doorstep.

“I just heard shouting behind me, and then two armed officers shouting at me to drop the knife,” he said. “And then they turned me around, pushed me up against my house, cuffed me, and then they arrested me, put me in the back of the van.”

The tools he had on his belt, he said, were a Niwaki Hori Hori gardening trowel in a canvas sheath, and an Ice Bear Japanese gardener’s sickle.

When he was arrested, Rowe said, the officer pulled the trowel out of its sheath, and said: “That’s not a garden tool.”

“I said it is, because it was in the Niwaki-branded pouch that you get at garden centres,” Rowe said.
