Not That Anyone Cares

I’ve been battling pneumonia for the last couple weeks (which explains the light posting), praying that I’ll recover in time for my away-from-internet Christmas vacation that’ll keep me from posting anything except made-ahead-of-time John Edwards facts until about the 27th of December.
Either that, or Frank’s new medications are working better than expected, so he’s been able to sublimate his “Harvey” personality.
At any rate, lolterizt! will return January 1st.
On a personal note, Zithromax Z-Pak is a worthless and inadequate medication whose approval the FDA should yank ASAP. Without this garbage’s extravagant kickbacks to health care providers, I would’ve been prescribed something effective in the first place, and not had to crawl off my death bed just to post some stupid “I won’t be posting” entry.
Apparently the Democrats are right about America’s broken Health Care System, since its numerous flaws are now spilling over and affecting Americas Conservative Humor System.

  1. You should have Fred Thompson declare war on the Z-Pak. Of course, I have also had pneumonia for the past week, also took the Z-Pak, and feel quite a bit better. Maybe the problem is you don’t use the right laundry detergent.

  2. all the medicines in the same family as zythromax give me stomach problems, so i make sure the doc gives me something else.
sorry to hear ’bout the pneumonia. had it once in high school. worst. feeling. ever.
but hey… if it gets you to praying, then it can’t be all bad, now can it?

  3. Think of how much better you would have been under Shillary universal medical care, instead of being the victim of capitalistic pharmaceutical companies.
BTW, hope you feel better for the holidays. My brother had pnuemonia so bad he missed 2 months of school.

  4. Get well soon. I really miss your humor and excellent writing (including your excellent editing of my submissions to the John Edwards Fabulous Facts series, which makes me seem far funnier than I really am).

  5. Yeah, the Z-Pack isn’t a good antibiotic. There isn’t much antibiotic in the Z-Pack to begin with; 5 days won’t clear up anything. When it comes to antibiotics, I’ve had best luck with a 10 or 14 day supply of clarithromycin. But if you got the pneumonia from a hospital, you should be put on a harder antibiotic.

  6. Zithromax is an antibiotic; if it didn’t help, you probably have something viral. A nasty adenovirus (strain AD14) has been making the rounds, killing a few people via pneumonia and kicking the crap out of many others (including my whole family, though we’re better now). You should check up the symptoms online and see if that’s what you’ve got (for one thing, if you’ve had any conjunctivitis to go with your cough, that’s a pretty strong indicator for adenovirus).
Not that knowing this would help you much, but at least then if someone tries to prescribe you antibiotics you can tell them to piss off.

  7. I had strep last year, and the Z-pack did nothing for it. Had to be on a second antibiotic for 10 days. My wife seems to be alergic to the stuff, and since it stays in your system for 5-8 days after taking the last pill, it is a pain. Neither one of us want the stuff anymore, as it doesn’t work as well as some of the other drugs.
    Hope you fell better soon.

  8. Sad news indeed. My cure is non filtered Camels and liberal doses of Courvoisier vsop, or Pierre Ferrand. It might not cure you but you won’t care! The Camels create an unhealthy environment for the bugs.
    Get well soon.
    Oh yeah, vote Fred.

  9. Zithromax comes as a generic, if you got the brand name then your doctor’s the one responsible for it. It tends to be a first choice because it’s currently inexpensive, doctor wanted to get you on the inexpensive stuff before upping you to something like Levaquin which will cost you a significant amount. The Zpak is very commonly used, it works well for a lot of people. Frankly I’m more surprised that your doctor went with zithromax for pneumonia than I am that it didn’t work for you.

  10. I think its your system going into shock knowing that you’re planning a vacation away from the internet…
Take it easy, drink lots of fluids, don’t eat much, and wash down your Courvoisier with a tablespoonful of honey (unless you are allergic to bees).
U has 2 get teh betterz so we canz have mor lolterizt!!!!1111!!

  11. Z-Packs wrk well enough on most respiratory infections, on most people. further more, since, AFAIK, they have all gone generic, they shouldn’t be that expensive, even if you’re a cash customer vs. one covered by insurance.
unless your doc dispenses out of his office, it’s difficult for him to prove what he’s written for or if those scripts have even been filled. the companies still flog to the docs on GP, but the real decision making is done at the hospitals, where the P&T committee decides which meds get on formulary, so you’re likely to stay on what you started there once you’re discharged, and at the insurance companies, who decide what they’ll pay for and what they won’t, which causes people to take their formularies to the doc’s office, insisting that he write for the stuff with low co-pays.
    if you *are
a cash customer and the pharmacy sold you the trade instead of offering the equivalent generic, you need a new pharmacy. i’d also consider a beef with your state board of pharmacy.
out here in the PRC they’d be a trifle peeved with them.
all that being true, which it is, since i w*rk in the industry (former Army 91Q), there is evidently a bug going around that is azithromycin resistant, since i have caught it. i gave it a good solid dose of azith, and although much better, am still having signs & symptoms of lung & nasal congestion.
having waited a few days to see if it’d clear, and having consulted with my pharmacist, i started a new regime today of a different antibiotic. we’ll see what happens.
sidebar: you’re a bit young for the usual schedule, but if pneumonia is a problem for you, consider discussing the pros & cons of pneumonia vaccine next time you see your quack. you don’t need one every year, it’s relatively cheap, and might be indicated for you, depending on your situation.
    redc1c4,
who’s not trying to practice medicine, btw, just sharing….. %-)

  12. Yea! I can post now…kicks WebSense
But it’s not all about me….I also care about you. Is that gay? Well maybe not so much care about you as about the Daily Humor Production which seems to have fallen off quite a bit…
Frank and Spacemonkey better kick it up a notch grins
Get better soon whispers AirBorne which is too late now that it is the ‘silent-Pn’ word but keeps me from going there in the first place.
