Tell me if you can immediately see what’s wrong with this picture:

This is a Hillary mailer about how bad Obama is on guns. Some people are making a big deal about the error in it thinking it will jump out at hunters (and when something jumps out at hunters, they shoot it). I heard the error before I saw the image, so I can’t say whether it would jump out at me (but I see pistols on a much more regular basis than rifles).
Anyway, I think it’s pretty cool that both Hillary and Obama are arguing that the other is worse on guns. They’re arguing guns from the right in the Democrat Primary! Despite how things have gone bad for conservatives lately, we still win.

That’s a weird looking gun. I suppose their ARE left-handed rifles out there but I’ve never seen one.
OH NO they flipped the picture of the gun around in Photoshop!
Stupidest controversy ever.
Hillary would stick her finger in the wind and leave guns alone.
Obama would be more likely to try to tell everyone that the wind is blowing a different direction.
I hate to ask a stupid question, but here goes: are there 2 triggers?
It looks to be a left-handed Anschutz target .22 with a double set trigger (break on the set trigger around 18 oz., discharge trigger is a hair trigger). Pretty piece, reminds me of an old girlfriend…
Learn something new everyday . . . Thanks
Actually it’s the perfect gun for a liberal. It’s a lefty with two triggers so they can have it both ways.
I think it’s pretty clear where Obama stands on guns. He’s convinced the rubes shouldn’t have them. He has made that very clear, which appeals to his base. Let’s see what he has to say once the general election is in full swing. I will wager a deafening silence on the issue will occur until after the election.
Hillary, on the other hand, is also convinced the rubes shouldn’t have guns. She would do the same thing Slick Willie did in the 90’s; say that she’s all for gun ownership(for hunting)while signing restrictive legislation behind everyone’s back.
Meh, I’ve seen plenty of reversed images in military magazines that have sterling RKBA credentials. There is an even money chance that the Hillary camp did this on purpose to bring the nitpickers out of the woodwork to make them look like wild-eyed gun nuts. If your beef with the ad is that they aren’t exactly gun-buffs, you draw focus away from the fact that they want to barge into your home and clean out your gun cabinet. Save your ammo, so to speak, for the contents of the envelope and don’t get hung up on the packaging.
the old double barrel bolt action rifle trick, silly liberals.
OK, some advertising geek decided that the gun should be pointing left … toward O. Hussein. They simply flipped the picture.
I am not a hunter, but I can see that.
Is it a conspiracy? No. It is simply someone who doesn’t like, nor care for the 2nd Amendment (or hunting) trying to make the point with a “gun”.
(I only hope it wasn’t loaded.)

We were told that the M-16 was available in a left handed model too, but none of the commands I was assigned to ever had one. It always sucked to be firing in the prone position and have a casing eject onto your collar and end up against your neck. I suppose doing the inspection arms movement would have been kind of clumsy using a lefty M-16.
The obvious error is: Barack isn’t pumping gas.
If Barack were to stand on that gun, where would he stand? I suppose the real question would be, “Why would Barack Obama want to stand on guns?”
Let’s see…Bolt Action…Scope…Double set Triggers….OH MY GOD. It’s a sniper rifle! This must be a picture from the Bosnia trip that the media refused to show. DUCK HILLARY.
Most modern bolt action rifles are available in left-handed models (for an additional cost). This is a vintage rifle, however, and no one was left handed back in the day.
Antique, left handed bolt action with a set trigger? Perfect! I’m sure liberals consider it an assault weapon!
The picture is (most probably) reversed. Even I caught that, and I’m about as far from an expert on guns as you can be and not be a Democrat.
I don’t think it’s a big deal, though. I AM an expert on bicycles (used to own part of a bike shop, build my own wheels, etc.); bike magazines reverse pictures all the time, so that riders don’t look like they’re riding off the page, etc. It’s no big deal there, and it shouldn’t be one here.
What’s interesting about Obama is that from a distance, he really does look a lot like a deer.
Wait for the traditional ‘going duck hunting’ photo oportunity that every presidential canidate undergoes. If Oboma scored a 37 bowling, what sort of shot do you suppose he is? I see him in a duck blind, orange cap on backwards, holding his shotgun sideways one-handed as reporters flinch and the Secret Service agents present weep behind their dark glasses. I wouldn’t be surprised if Hillary turned out to be a crack shot. (Just think of Bill and squeeze the trigger).
“Where does Obama stand on guns?” Oh, about 30 yards downrange. (sorry, I couldn’t resist!)
While I’m at it:
“Gun Control”…the ability to drop a liberal at 400 yards.
What do you do if you see a wounded liberal crawling across your front yard?
Stop laughing and reload.
What do you do if you see a PETA member protesting in a quail costume?
Call Dick Cheney.
It is a Mauser Model 66, made from 1965 to 1995. I have never seen a left-handed version, but even so, left-to-right flips in photos are hardly news. The dual triggers are part of a traditional set trigger arrangement: The rear trigger “SETS” the action and the front one releases it with a very low pull weight.
Nice photo shop job, that is a FN type Mauser with the bolt cut and pasted on the Left..,
It also looks like it’s cocked, unless the profile on the firing pin is supposed to be that proud.
Noticed it was a lefty right away. I’m a lefty and I can’t shoot a rifle right-handed to save my life. And so many righty rifles are a pain to shoot lefty – shell casings or other discharge going across your face. By coincidence all the guns my father owned were like that. One big reason I never got into hunting as a kid. There are lefty guns out there (as well as symmetric ones) but it’s a class of expensive toys that I’ve avoided so far.
The problem with the image is that Barack Obama is too far from the end of the barrel. If you stand with the end of the barrel behind you and pointing away from you, you can’t be shot. Move him back a ways so that it’s pointing at him. Oh, and give him some antlers. There! Just right.

I thought he only shot lawyers, and the hunting story was just a cover. Anyway, that’s what I would be inclined to do.
Where does Barack Obama stand on guns? He doesn’t. He stands behind his body guards who have a much stronger stand on guns.
