Common ground

Obama speaks at Notre DameSOUTH BEND, IN (ABC News) – The president spoke to graduates at the University of Notre Dame about coming together over disagreements about abortion by finding “common ground.”

“I do not suggest that the debate surrounding abortion can or should go away,” Obama said. “Because no matter how much we may want to fudge it — indeed, while we know that the views of most Americans on the subject are complex and even contradictory — the fact is that at some level, the views of the two camps are irreconcilable.”

Protesters at the university drew a sharp contrast between pro-abortion and pro-life camps The president acknowledged the protesters and their signs, using them to offer his common ground proposal.

“I see the signs that show aborted fetuses in trash cans,” Obama acknowledged. “I understand that you feel the fetuses are actually babies. So let me offer a compromise. All fetuses from federally funded abortions will be thrown in waste bins located at cemeteries. This will allow all sides to maintain their positions with dignity and honor.”

  1. Barry shouldn’t be telling anyone anything about dignity and honor.

    Honor.

When I think of honor I think of, ah, well, a lot of things. The one thing that popped into my head though was the account (Forgive me if I get the details wrong) of a Marine (His name escapes me, but I believe he was a sergeant and I believe he was of Hispanic descent) at the Inchon landings in ’50. There was a famous picture taken of him as he climbed over the sea wall there. Some time after this picture was taken, his Marines were pinned down by North Korean fire, so he stood up to throw a grenade. Just as he pulled the pin, he was struck by the enemy fire and fell. As Marines ran for cover, the sergeant took the grenade and held it under his chest.

I wonder if Obama’s ever heard that story. Probably wouldn’t make much of a difference, I guess.

    See ya’.

  2. That’s good. Because if it wasn’t then my comment above looks even more silly.

Tired. Got a headache. Tired of the clowns residing in the White House. I should probably go to sleep.

  3. Holy crap, this isn’t fakery.

These morons should get refunds instead of diplomas :

Obama entered the arena to thunderous applause and a standing ovation from many in the crowd of 12,000. But as the president began his commencement address, at least three protesters interrupted it. One yelled, “Stop killing our children.”

The graduates responded by chanting “Yes we can,” the slogan that became synonymous with Obama’s presidential campaign. Obama seem unfazed, saying Americans must be able to deal with things that make them “uncomfortable.”

Ironically, opposition to fascistic messianic fervor
    makes the President uncomfortable.
How will he ‘deal with’ that?

  4. Anyone who would willing facilitate and participate in the genocide of his own people should never be allowed in a church, a church school or anywhere there are actual people. I have lost all respect for the University of Notre Dame and for the Pope for not smacking them silly.

It’s time for a regime change at the Fighting Irish. Maybe someone more interested in religious identity than a TV contract for the football team and currying favor with dictors.

  5. Hey, but he talked about Bookstore Basketball so the grads loved him. I knew some of the students were spoiled brats but I really didn’t think they were in the majority. We are ND, indeed.

  6. Did you anyone see the Gallup Poll that came out saying that 51% of Americans are Pro-Life?! Obama has the US against him on this issue..

The welfare crowd is skewing that…why would they be for killing their free everything ticket?
Since the One is so pro “choice”, how about we start enforcing the China model on all his loyal followers?
One bastard per 5th generation welfare leach and then a generous reward…a job…to pay for it.

  7. It reminds me of his race speech that was considered so groundbreaking by the left until Rev. Wright basically came out and made Obama’s attempts to defend or minimize him the lies that they were. So now we have to talk about both living and dead babies and support both? Sooo… now it’s Schodinger’s Fetus?

    “Stop killing our children”
    Response; “Yes we can!”

Well, even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

  8. From the mouth of the boy who would be Pretendsident:

“Most antiabortion activists, for example, have openly discouraged legislative allies from even pursuing those compromise measures that would have significantly reduced the incidence of the procedure popularly known as partial-birth abortion, because the image the procedure evokes in the mind of the public has helped them win converts to their position.”

If the wording sounds fairly inane, that’s because it is. That quote is obamaspeak that roughly translates into “Most of the stupid pro-lifers secretly support PBA’s because the image of a baby getting slaughtered as it on its way out of the womb makes more stupid people become against abortion.”

So, since there are a significant amount of pro-life people who visit & comment just here on IMAO, please leave some comments on how many of you are in the “most” category that aren’t opposed to PBA’s because you think it helps the antiabortion cause.

It’s interesting how this elitist know-nothing douchebag comes to such a generalized – and conspicuously incorrect – conclusion about a group of people he deems ignorant & won’t have anything to do with. That ridiculous statement is analogous to saying that child molestation ought to be taped so more people can see it & denounce it after the fact.

  9. Says more about his own twisted thinking process than the strong stance of pro-lifers who are against all forms of abortion. To compromise and outlaw only partial birth is to give in to the thinking that abortion itself is a right – that it’s just certain methods of abortion that are immoral and not the act itself.

  10. This is the first time I’ve had to Google something on here to make sure it was satire (it was, wasn’t it?). But it’s not a whole lot worse than the actual speech, in the book-hawking part, where he roundaboutly, somewhat unintentionally, admits that the only pro-life thing he’s ever done is have his staffers change some words on his website while not changing his actual position in the slightest.

Really, overall, the speech would actually have been pretty good if it wasn’t the complete opposite of what he actually believes.

  11. Babies crying thoughout O’Bummer’s gas winded rhetoric geared for future Catholic votes was indeed appropriate.

Babies cried too as the Notre Dame graduates constantly cheered O’Bummer’s crapola. The dumming down of America indeed.

  12. Exodus 11:6
“And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there has never been, nor ever shall be again.”

I suppose after the 9th plague, some optimistic Egyptian said, “Hey! It could be worse!”
