  1. Here’s my thing: got into an argument on thursday with my wife and best friend about this same subject. They both said that republicans were pulling the same shit liberals were pulling under bush 2nd. Said we shouldn’t “Stoop to their level” and all that jazz.

Here’s my thing: sure we don’t have to stoop to their level of childishness and idiocy, but the press isn’t gonna carry the water for us like they do the dems, nor are they gonna get the softball media treatment obama’s been getting. why the hell should we be as nice if the press is already hostile to us?

  2. I read that & left a couple of comments this morning. Last time I looked it had turned into a cluster fu… group fornication of trolls, moderate-sounding Neo-Cons who think that acting like the UN would show the left that they’re gosh-darn serious, and more than a few people who thought that Hawkins was absolutely correct in his assessment that the time for domestic diplomacy is long past.

Of course, I agree with Hawkins. And no, it’s not about getting revenge on the left for all the damage they’ve done in decades past; it’s about saying *enough* to their bullsh*t now & starting to make it clear that if they’re going to continue the subversive tactics, legal gerrymandering, violence and outright lies, there will be repercussions. It’s not about making threats or “sinking to their level”…I believe it is more like doing right by the country while attempting to regain some of what we’ve lost & continue to lose.

If you know who’s been breaking into your house, stealing your stuff before relieving themselves on your floor, and then blaming you for having nice things in the first place, you know exactly what to do when they come back. No question.

  3. Not wanting to sound like a “neo-con” or worse I am in somewhat of a quandry over this article. While I agree that being nice to liberals is exercise in futility, I am uncomfortable with imitating their behavior.

    Secular response:

“Lie down with dogs, get up with fleas” is a very appropriate adage.

That said, I have always thought that the media has been given too much of a pass. I too think that the Odderman and Dowdy need to feel the heat when they go after the families and integrity of people whose only crime is that they don’t march in lock step with the loony left.

    Religious response;

However we are the party that promotes religious values and that puts certain strictures on what we can or better yet should do or not do.
    Matthew 5
43 ¶ Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
    44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your father which is in heaven is perfect.

I know, I know. Life is hard, especially when you’re dealing with people who seek to destroy all that you hold dear. The sticking point however is what do we REALLY believe. We are either believers or we are not. So how then do we act. Sorry I don’t have a clue. I’d like to intellectually “kill them all and let God sort them out” but then I’m a reactionary. But I’m glad we’re talking about it.

By the way. I already boycott those who support Sharpton, Jackson et al. Oh and Barracuda O’vomit is not now nor will he ever be my president or will I ever refer to him as Mr. President or President O…….. (I can’t even type it, it’s so distasteful).

I will never give nor will I ever surrender.

  4. I kinda like the Untocuhable’s way of thinking “they put one of your’s in the hospital you one put one of their’s in the morgue.'” Not advocating violence against anyone here, but the liberals do need a taste of there own medicine. liberals want to destroy our way of life, faith, American values, and sovereignty.
Maybe it’s time to use there play book and hit em hard and where it hurts most. Let’s attack there lack of values, faith, and there way of life. Mock and ridicule them unmecrifully like they do all conservatives. Maybe if we start fighting dirty back they’ll get the hint. Some how I highly doubt it, you get better results talking to a brick wall than a liberal.
I have found in life if someone is fighting dirty against you and you take the high road and fight far you lose. However if you fight dirty back they don’t like it and can’t handel it. They make mistakes get sloppy and you can take them down. Being the bigger man still works but sometime you just have to fight back, fight hard, and fight dirty.

  5. As Conservatives, our battle has always been against ‘government’: big government, tyrannical government, meddling government, bureaucratic government…

But ss a country, we have yet to address the issue of the government’s ‘right’ to steal our property to “promote the common welfare.”

I’d like to see that issue come to a knock-down drag-out policitcal fight. And if it can’t be won peacefully, well, then, it’s time for The American Revolution – Reloaded.

  6. Stealing elections, changing rules, shutting Republicans out of debates, and Boehner and friends do NOTHING! And, do they get respect for taking the high road? Hell no, they get laughed at, ridiculed, and lose seats and the presidency.

Obviously, the disadvantage is that Democrats have the press acting as Democrat PR, they cover every press conference, and they help sell every lie to the public. Republicans get almost NO coverage, and the coverage they get is out of contet, hateful spins by the “mainstream” radical left media who have gone even farther off the deep left end in the last couple years.

The goal should not be to do the SAME things the dems are doing, but to do NEW things, and BETTER, than the dems. Republicans need to create their own media outlets (online, as well as working with talk radio and the few honest outlets they have) and start a full-force offensive attacking every one of these idiots and tying it to the American people. For example, we’ve got an administration full of tax cheats while honest Americans just paid their taxes, and Republicans make some mild statements and that’s about it. We’ve got Michelle Obama, who made $300,000 per year working for a hospital, developing programs to deny poor people health care by forcing them to go to clinics instead, and Republicans say nothing. We have idiots like Dodd and Frank, who were not only allowed to take NO blame for the Fannie and Freddie mess they caused and profited from, but are held up as the two to SAVE the organizations (while blaming Bush for everything, of course), and where are Republicans…despite having audio of Bawney Fwank stating emphatically that there “is no” problem with Fannie and Freddie at hearings where Republicans were trying to address the problem…no offensive from Republicans.

Recently, Republicans were forced to deal with the problem that Americans were slow to realize that another group (al-quaeda) had declared war on us. If the other side declares war on you, you ARE at war, like it or not. Several years ago, the Democrats declared war on conservatism…and Republicans failed to recognize the war, or fight back…and, here we are. It’s time the Republicans, armed with the power of conservatism and free enterprise, pulled themselves out of the 19th century and embraced the tools to fight this war.

But, before doing that, they need to dump the McCain appeasement philosophy. Either render McCain and friends impotent in the party or force them to join their other buddy Specter, and get the spies and back-stabbers off the field of battle before charging the hill.

  7. Government is NEVER the answer and we should fight with every ounce of our being against those who would surrender their freedoms for a spot in line to receive government dole! These people are lost souls who need freedom fighters to stand up and tell morons in congress, the white house and the news media, from our cold dead hands shall you take our liberty!

  8. A Republic such as ours is but the vehicle by which we achieve and sustain our own sovereignty. And that is its only purpose and the only answer it provides.

Why do so many people think otherwise? I’ve never understood it.

This place – on the other hand – is golden.

  9. “sometimes being the bigger person can make you the biggest loser” Ummm… How to respond to a piece of tripe like that? How about sometimes being the biggest person can make you the biggest homo? Or sometimes being the biggest person can make you the biggest winner? Or Sometimes being the biggest person can make you the biggest owner of racing stripes in your underwear? WTF?

  10. USSJC_

I believe he was alluding to the notion that when one is always taking the “high road”, it’s easier for him to get undermined by his enemies. In other words, when you turn to walk away from every fight, don’t be surprised when you get stabbed in the back.

That’s what happens to conservatives when we buy into that whole bi-partisan BS being spewed by the Democrat party, who have no intention whatsoever of honoring their word.

  11. Perhaps USSJC didn’t think of the old expression, “You’re bigger than that.” And, when combined with what Patton said, “The very thought of losing is HATEFUL to Americans,” I think the thought of losing (in the context of ‘losing our freedoms’) is HATEFUL to ussjimmycarter.

It is to all true partiots. It makes our blood boil.

There. I cleared that up. I’ll be around all week to read everyone’s comments, all the fine articles here at the IMAO Coral – and settle all controversies! 😉

  12. Jimmy the thought of losing our freedoms makes my blood boil for sure. I for one don’t like the march towards socialisim. I’m also glad there are some people on this site to keep everyone in check to help keep the peace, keep it fun, and entertaining.

  13. I know I’m being a bit willfully naive, but if we just make the Moral arguments and call out liberal bullshit I think we will be able to ensure our freedom…

    Right makes Might, after all.

I mean, if people are basically good, surely they will see that socialism is immoral if we just calmly explain to them why, right?

  14. I bought 3 new books today.
    Atlas Shrugged, by Ann Rand,
Liberty and Tyranny, by Mark R. Levin,
and my very own copy of The Everlasting Man, by G.K. Chesterton.
It’s all ammunition for the fight.
    I agree with Seanmahair.
Sometimes loving our enemies means telling them clearly and emphatically when they’re wrong; provided that we have the facts and arguements to back it up.
Will they listen? Will they admit they’re wrong? Will they stop being our enemies?

    Well, there’s always Proverbs 25:21-22,
    “If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat;
    and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink;
for you will head coals of fire on his head,
and the LORD will reward you.”

    Let’s light some fires!

  15. Clint Eastwood (Josey Wales) – “Now remember, things look bad and it looks like you’re not gonna make it, then you gotta get mean. I mean plumb, mad-dog mean. ‘Cause if you lose your head and you give up then you neither live nor win. That’s just the way it is.”

“To hell with them fellas. Buzzards gotta eat, same as worms.”

  16. This is war; ideological mebbe, but war nonetheless. It is also helpful to realize that the left are abinch of wining. weak-willed nancies. So commence with the bitch-slapping and let’s go win.

  17. There’s a fascinating piece on TownHall by O’Reily about ODS (Obama Derangement Syndrome) but it won’t take anymore comments (there are 483 at the moment)

I want to say somewhere that not only do I practice ODS, I revel in it. I want the left to know just exactly what the last 8 years have felt like. The left never matured beyond the terrible twos and in order to get them to understand something you have to show it to them in a way that will get past their self-centered, willful, stubborn, and blatantly childish mindset. The only way to teach a two year old not to do something is to make it uncomfortable for them to do it.

So, no Mr. O’Reily I’m not going to give O’vomit a chance. I’m not going to give him, his wife, his administration or his dog the benefit of the doubt. I’m not going to play nice and forget (although as a good Christian I should forgive those who dispitefully use me- sorry I’m not perfected yet, but then again I realize that church is a hospital for sinners not a hotel for saints) or forgive. I will not cast my pearls before swine nor will I allow them to continue to rend me.

O’vomit lied and obfuscated his way into the presidency aided and abetted by the Democratic political machine. It as all Pres. Bush’s fault for the past eight years. It’s now all O’vomits fault, swine flu; the economy, Jack Kemps death, as well as my indigestion and the dog’s scraped nose.

The left needs to “get over it” as they so often told Conservatives in the past.

    “DEAL DUDES”.

Liberty and Tyranny, by Mark R. Levin

I bought those two of your three a couple weeks ago….I haven’t had time for a dent in them yet. Maybe a book review post would get me moving along!

My opinion on the matter at hand: Yes, we need to stand up to the nonsense from the left, but in a less hysterical manner. As the article states, I think going after the journalists that are disengenuous is a start. They have put themselves out there as a voice and shold be called out if they are treating people unfairly. We need not by shy about pointing out left wing policies that perpetuate racism and dependency on the governement. Yes, we need to fight a little dirty.

My husband and i were talking about this last night before I read the column. Obama’s admin is bullying Chrysler, they bullied AIG, they bullied Joe the Plumber, (I’m sure there’s more) and if they heard me complaining with the other parents at soccer practice this week, they would be bullying me!

As Conservatives, we need to stand up for ourselves because the Republican party isn’t. Although I have considered myself a Republican for the past 8 years (and a Republican voting Independent prior to that) I’m *this close* to leaving the party and becoming a registered Libetarian….or at least Independent again.

All I know is there is ALOT of us out there that are DONE with what’s going on in Washington. The Tea Parties were a nice start, but even that was deemed silly or evil from teh left. We need to get in their faces.

Those of us who are of this mindset are smart, accomplished people. I think it’s time for some who have the right stuff to come out of the wood work and run for office.

    Anybody????

  19. John Hawkins lack of credibility aside, he does make a point. Why is oberdufus not being raked over the coals for being a poor sportcaster not a “journalist” why is his family’s DUIs and his wife’s (shudder) obsession with donkeys being exploited? Why is it that no one is talking about the sicknesses of katie couric’s family, or mathews affair with an illegal? johnny edwards almost got away with cheating on his cancer striken wife, and jesse almost got away with having kids with an underage harpie. If we don’t lie, we should be able to use the same tactics as they do without being unethical.

  20. I agreed with him and I think it’s time to bring out the gloves. Preferably gloves made of armor filled with starving, half-crazed weasels.

As a Christian I can’t say I’ll be mean and low-down and lying sacks of crap that the libs are, but neither will I lay down without a fight. I’m tired of being demonized simply because I’m a conservative.

Whadya say, Jimmy? Wanna tick off some washingtonians? 😀

  21. Hey Tink!

There’s ‘ticking-off’ and then there’s… ticking-off. You know that Western Washington is a hot bed of constantly breeding, mentally-deficient, tree-hugging, globull warmening dill weeds. The demographics are horrible here. They need a good ‘come-uppins that only 15% unemployment and high taxes can cure.

But, hey, I’m always open to suggestions.

  22. I’m all for ticking off. Hmmm…what would strike them the worst? I wonder if we could somehow make all their coffee stands shut down. They might *GASP!* have to make it at home.
Them’s small ‘taters, though. We need something big, something Karl Rove-ish.

  23. Let’s see. Latte stands – small taters. I know. We’ll give ’em an old Ken Griffey, Jr. back with the Mariners – wrong, they did that and he retires soon, anyway. I know! We’ll give ’em a really old, ugly witch for a governor! Yeah, that’s it!. Oh, shoot, we already did that. Okay, how about paint the ferries ORANGE! – um, too costly. Oh. Oh! Put endless security vulnerabilities in Microsoft Windoze. Oops, Microbrains did that for us. Wait! It’ll come to me. We’ll build two new stadiums at $1.5B when the waterfront and viaduct are rotting away. Late again. How’s about if we raise tuition at a rate that puts all the students out. Already happening. Raise taxes. We did that – plus Dem pinheads are talking about an income tax again after we voted it down twice

Tink, the Soviet State of Washington is already doing everything wrong and we should ALL be ticked-off already. But people up here are brain-dead. It’s hopeless.

    TEXAS. Nobody’s messing with TEXAS.

  24. We could build a giant Ten Commandments and put them in the Tacoma Mall parking lot! Or maybe we could take Sarah Palin to lunch at the space cadet needle.
Maybe being so close in name to Washington DC has left them as brain-dead as the politicians there. And being in close proximity to Canada probably doesn’t help.
OR maybe we invite Frank J and Sarah out here and go shoot some guns. This is an open carry state, after all. And Frank’s not that far…Idaho? Or is it Iowa?

No, nobody’s messing with Texas. I told hubby if TX really does secede we’re moving there. He said darn straight. I’m a native Oklahoman so it’s not like Texas is a foreign country to me.

  25. In the spirit of the article, I’m re-raising Obama’s Selma March speech as an issue. I know it’s old and everyone knows about it, but I feel really intense about this particular so-called “gaffe” and isn’t it being “old” (i.e. from the past) part of the point? Please visit the post’s URL for a video accompanying the following: http://guffyconservative.wordpress.com/2009/05/04/obama-page-updateselma-march-re-post/

    Selma March Lie

The Setting: Selma, Alabama, USA. March 5th, 2007.

The Gaffe: He claimed to have been born as a result of the Selma March of Selma, Alabama in 1965. The problem is, he was born in 1961. He blatantly lied here and the fact that the media ignores this is an indicator of how liberal our media is and how far down America has come. “Remember the height from which you have fallen,” America.

My Take: If you take no other “My Take” seriously, take this one seriously. And remember it. And pass on the link to your friends, Republicans, Democrats, Libertarian, Hippy, whoever!

I’ve got a few things to say here. First off, 2007?! Really?! Early 2007?!! What the heck?! Does the guy have nothing that he does that isn’t in some way campaigning? Think about it. He’s the first president to come on shows while in office. And he’s done it several times now, and his 100 days are barely over! The guy’s campaigning even after he’s won; and re-election (God forbid) isn’t even close! Toddlers from that time haven’t even been born yet!

Secondly, this is the one that really got me started against Obama. I already knew the general stances of Obama & Hillary (although the gaffe is 2007, I didn’t find it until 2008) & McCain, and so had already picked my vote, but I didn’t know many specifics. I found this, and an intense dislike for Obama started within me. I consider several of his gaffes to be lies. But they can all, with proper planning, be explained away; so, I do not make too much of a deal out of them. But this… this infuriates me! He lies blatantly! He does not bother to even try to make it a decent lie! He is trying to steal creditibilty from a movement that HE HAD NO PART IN, NOR DID THE BLACK SIDE OF HIS ANCESTRY, and, also notably, NEITHER DID THE PARTY FOR WHICH HE STANDS! Who drove the Civil Rights legislation? Republicans! Who opposed it? Democrats. Who were the biggest C.R. supporters? Blacks. Who were the biggest C.R. opponents? Whites. Which Obama ancestors were in the U.S. at the time? The white ones! He dishonors the sit-ins, the brave souls who endured hosing, dogs, bricks through windows. He dishonors King and all the other activists of that era, by trying to USE THEM as a tool to gain votes in a BLATANTLY dishonest manner!

Registered Republican Doctor Martin Luther King, Junior is spinning in his grave; weeping at how his message and efforts are being manipulated, at how a man is using race to gain favour, at how racism is still very much alive in America, when it is “racism” to vote against a black man for reasons totally unrelated to the color of his skin, for reasons related to the Content of His Character.

Pammy, all I know about you is what you’ve written here. But I gotta tell you, I’d vote for you in a heartbeat.

So, how about “coming out of the woodwork?!”

Sorry Jimmy, I busy raising my kiddos right now……I do think I will look into doing something behind the scenes. Now I just gotta find a great candidate from Vegas to support! (we do tend to have a lot of Libertarians ’round here)

  27. Book reviews?
Atlas Shrugged – 1069 pages (paperback edition), uninteresting 10 page intro, really small type, currently on page 25. Summary pending.
Liberty and Tyranny – 205 pages, followed by 40 pages of notes, larger type, more spaces, currently on page 6. Summary pending.
The Everlasting Man – 276 pages, with intro and 2 short appendixs by the author. Currently on my third read-through. Summary: I laughed. I cried. I went, “Hmmm…”. Brilliant!
