During an interview on CBS, Paul Krugman said that what’s really hurting the economy is “cutbacks in the public sector.”
Sure, and what’s sinking the boat is all that perfectly good water you’re throwing overboard.
During an interview on CBS, Paul Krugman said that what’s really hurting the economy is “cutbacks in the public sector.”
Sure, and what’s sinking the boat is all that perfectly good water you’re throwing overboard.
From the article:
“of course, those [public sector jobs] would have translated into more private sector jobs too.”
On what basis is this assumption made? I’m not an economist, but I don’t see how anyone can argue that a larger government must absolutely neccesitate a more robust private sector…
…then Krugman continued, “And, the problem with putting out fires is that firemen don’t use enough gasoline.”
So let me see if I’ve got this right Paul…all we gotta do is hire 600,000 government workers and all our economic problems will be solved and everyone in the private sector will be able to go back to work? I think Paul…you’ve been smoking too much medical marijahoochi.
Ladies and gentlemen, Krugman was required to say this. After all, Black Jesus said this very thing right after he proclaimed that the private sector was doing fine. Ear Leader said it, and to disagree with Ogabe on any issue, for any reason, is raaaaacist! Krugman wants to prove he isn’t racist, therefore he’ll agree with the black guy no matter how stupid and demonstrably wrong he is. And, who are we, the great unwashed, workers and peasants all, to disagree with Krugman or SCOAMF, Nobel Prize winners both? It matters not that a dung beetle knows more about economics, history, and human nature than either or both of those two educated fools combined.
“A fool and his money are soon parted.”
Applies to countries, too, I think.
I’ll see your proverb and raise you a Ben Franklin. He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else. So many applications, so little time.
“sure, and what’s sinking the boat is all that perfectly good water you’re throwing overboard.”
harvey, that is the best krugman critique i’ve read anywhere, by anyone.
