Clocking in at 10 minutes, this video runs on a bit long for my taste, but I still watched the whole thing with rapt fascination.
The part that I enjoyed most was the creator’s response to the old saw about “if you’ve done nothing wrong, you have nothing to hide”, which starts at about the 3:10 mark.
The short version being that government enforcement agencies make mistakes, and innocent people’s lives can be ruined based solely on “reasonable suspicion” – or less.
And let’s face it – ain’t a one of us who ain’t reasonably suspicious in one way or another.
Oh, and in case you’re wondering, the Nazi elephant in the room DOES get discussed.
Listening to him (i was born and raised in Germany) my impression was that he denounced Surveillance states in general, not specifically the US’ version. He speaks critically of Germany’s and Great Britain’s surveillance states as well as America’s…
The 10 minutes went by quickly…sometimes he was speaking so fast the subtitles were flying by and it was hard to keep up but if it went much slower it would have been a 15 minute video. Very good points are made about the “if you don’t have anything to hide you have nothing to fear” concept. I have seen several stories lately of the wrong house being raided by lazy police work or even the wrong house being torn down. In those cases the innocent homeowners weren’t compensated or even apologized to.
