Honestly Confused
In his weekly radio address, President Obama said that Republicans are “working hard to confuse people” about Obamacare.
Yes, just like it’s “confusing” to call out a crook dealing Three Card Monte.

Must be frustrating for some that Syria not oil rich. Denied chance to tweet sagely that talk of action on CW is really all about oil.

That’s ONE Way to Get a Raise
A coalition of labor groups is calling for a nationwide strike of fast-food employees on August 29.
Good idea. The SEIU pays their picketers better.
Obama Warned Us – Children
Life doesn’t count for much unless you’re willing to do your small part to leave our children – all of our children – a better world. Even if it’s difficult. Even if the work seems great. Even if we don’t get very far in our lifetime.
BARACK OBAMA, speech, Jun. 15, 2008
“But there’s an easy solution: free abortion and contraception. No children, no problem!”
Gun Bans Make Us Feel Better
So a Harvard study says that banning guns has no effect on murder rates. That’s well and good, but that doesn’t take feelings into account. Don’t gun bans make us feel safer even if we aren’t? And isn’t that a good thing? Instead of focusing on science, logic, and rights, shouldn’t we focus more on feelings and pass more gun control? What say you?

Delay
Was working on a post for today, but didn’t get it done so I’ll finish it and post it tomorrow. I haven’t been really satisfied with my post quality for some time, so now I want to work on some higher quality posts — of the type I enjoy writing — but that may mean it may take more than one day to get them done considering the limited time I have for blogging (I’m working on a couple different books each morning in addition to blogging).
So if Harvey asks, tell him I’m hard at work writing.
DPRK vs USA
You know what’s up with the ex-girlfriend of Kim Jong-un? Nothing. She’s dead.
According to reports, Hyon Song-wol was executed a little over a week ago.
That’s the difference between the United States and North Korea. Their dictator’s ex-girlfriend? Shot by a firing squad. Ours’? Never existed.
And that’s what makes America great. It used to be that someone without a real job and with imaginary friends would be wandering the streets pushing a shopping cart. Today, that same person can sit in the Oval Office.
For some reason, though, I’m not comforted by that.
Random Thoughts: Dreams and Nightmares
Obama had a nightmare that he was living in a nation where he was judged not by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character.
I dream of a day when racism and accusations of racism aren’t effective political tools.
The Dark Ages ended with the invention of coffee and whiteboards.
I understand what rights are, but I’ve never really understood what civil rights are.
“We shall overcome! …unless someone asks for a photo ID.”
Things aren’t worse in this country; we’re just much whinier than we used to be.
So what’s the friendship level where you avenge death? Is that before or after helping someone move?
So, as a society, how far are we from just being able to stop talking about race so much?
I can see how duck calls and decoys will help you catch some ducks, but what if you’re hunting introvert ducks?

The human spirit can be damaged. It can be denied and suppressed, but it cannot be destroyed. This is something that has never been understood by tyrants, socialists, and others who believe they have the right to direct the lives of others.
