Obama had a nightmare that he was living in a nation where he was judged not by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character.
I dream of a day when racism and accusations of racism aren’t effective political tools.
The Dark Ages ended with the invention of coffee and whiteboards.
I understand what rights are, but I’ve never really understood what civil rights are.
“We shall overcome! …unless someone asks for a photo ID.”
Things aren’t worse in this country; we’re just much whinier than we used to be.
So what’s the friendship level where you avenge death? Is that before or after helping someone move?
So, as a society, how far are we from just being able to stop talking about race so much?
I can see how duck calls and decoys will help you catch some ducks, but what if you’re hunting introvert ducks?

‘Civil rights’ are those things you get when you’re feeling bad about yourself.
—There are no introverted ducks; see gregarious.
—Avenging you / helping you move; depends on whether your friend is a regular person or a noble warrior; noble warriors send their peasants, hirelings, or loyal henchmen to help your peasants, hireling, or henchmen help you move, as applicable, but they avenge your death as needed personally (at least that’s my impression from my History of Britain to 1688 class and Robert E. Howard). Regular people just go, “Man! I hate that! That’s not right!” (Well, perhaps, they’ll hold a fundraiser for your family.)
I think you really have to love someone enough to at least “bro” him before you avenge his death. The exceptions are private eyes (see Spade, Sam) and movie cops who have to avenge their partners even if they hate them. Because that’s just what you do.
“He who sheds his blood with me today is my brother” (Wm. Shakespeare, Henry V; if I didn’t “billy” the quote).
@2 CCO
i think now it is just a candlelight vigil, fundraising is too much work.
“Obama had a nightmare that he was living in a nation where he was judged not by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character.”
Most definitely a recurring nightmare.
Also, Martin Luther King once said, “If I had a son, he wouldn’t look -or ACT – like Barack Obama.”
There’s the friend who helps you move (for beer), the real friend who helps you move a body. I think avenging your death would be the next step.
If he dies of old age, how to you avenge that?
So what’s the friendship level where you avenge death? Is that before or after helping someone move?
Well I am not really all that into that whole heavy lifting thing. So helping you move is right out. But I suppose I could gather the energy to take care of the person that killed you. If they are not too far away and don’t require any heavy lifting or anything. Maybe its just best you don’t get killed or anything, I am going to go for a nap now. This posting stuff was really hard.
