Straight Line of the Day: Hey, Do You Have Excessive Wealth Disorder?
What is Excessive Wealth Disorder?
We define Excessive Wealth Disorder (EWD) as a societal sickness resulting in the insatiable need to acquire more. EWD affects not only the excessively wealthy, but everyone in our society.
EWD poses a massive threat to our planet, our society, and our wellbeing as individuals. We live on a planet with finite resources, yet EWD pushes the people who own corporations toward unfettered growth and unrestricted extraction of natural resources. As Americans with EWD, we are more interested in glorifying billionaires than supporting solutions for the public good. It doesn’t matter how much we have, we always feel that it isn’t enough.
The cure for this disorder exists. We must change the American Dream from an individualist fantasy to one that defines success by how well we care for each other.
Ratchet Question: When Market Prices for Transportation Costs Go Down, Do You Ever Reduce Prices?
U.S. Postal Service Announces Transportation-Related, Time-Limited Price Change
WASHINGTON — The U.S. Postal Service filed notice today with the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) regarding a time-limited price change to better align its costs of transportation with the market. This temporary price adjustment will provide needed flexibility for the Postal Service by helping to ensure that the actual costs of doing business are covered, as required by Congress.
While this price increase is a time-limited adjustment, it will provide a necessary bridge to a permanent mechanism to reflect market conditions in prices for competitive products that can support the Postal Service’s ability to achieve the universal service obligation in a more financially sustainable manner going forward.
The planned price change, which was approved by the Governors of the Postal Service on March 24, is an 8 percent increase that would affect base postage prices on the following retail and commercial domestic competitive products: Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, USPS Ground Advantage, and Parcel Select. No other products or services would be affected, including First-Class Stamps. Pending favorable review by the PRC, the price change would go into effect at midnight Central Time on April 26 and would remain in place until midnight Central Time on Jan. 17, 2027. At that time, the Postal Service can determine if a different long-term approach is needed.
Transportation costs have been increasing, and our competitors have reacted with a number of surcharges. We have steadfastly avoided surcharges …
…but … still … yet … however … nevertheless …
and this charge is less than one-third of what our competitors charge for fuel alone, so even with this change, the Postal Service continues to offer great value in shipping with some of the lowest rates in the industrialized world.

Well, letting you frame it your way would only exacerbate the problem, but go ahead:
… I know New Yorkers are exasperated. They feel that everything’s stacked against them. They’re not getting ahead, their rents are too damn high, their childcare costs are high, their utility bills …
What I want to make sure we are smart about is having a system in place where it’s not just taxing for the sake of taxing. And being conscious of the fact that I need people who are high-net-worth to support the generous social programs that we want to have in our state. Right?
Right.
Not left. Except they have left. In abundance.
Now, there are some patriotic millionaires who stepped up. Okay, cut me the checks.
Since you’re a politician and a Democrat, I have to ask: you meant cut the government the checks, correct?

I would posit that you do — and you realize it, you’ve just circled around it, and will now home in on it:
… I have to look at the fact that we are in competition with other states who have less of a tax burden on their corporations and their individuals.
So, other than seeing “who we can bring back home” at the point of a gun — I’d call the new TV series “The Fungitive” — you’ll convince them how? …
Straight Line of the day: Come On: There Has To Be Something Funny About an Ant-Trafficking Network
Chinese national arrested over attempt to smuggle 2,000 queen ants from Kenya
BBC | 03 11 2026 | Wycliffe MuiaA Chinese national has been arrested in Kenya’s main airport accused of attempting to smuggle more than 2,000 queen garden ants out of the country.
Zhang Kequn was intercepted during a security check at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in the capital Nairobi after authorities discovered a large consignment of live ants in his luggage bound for China.
He has yet to respond to the accusation but investigators said in court that he was linked to an ant-trafficking network that was broken up in Kenya last year.
The ants are protected by international bio-diversity treaties and their trade is highly regulated.
… in Europe and Asia, where collectors keep them as pets.
A state prosecutor told the court on Wednesday that Zhang had packed some ants in test tubes, while others were concealed in tissue paper rolls hidden in his luggage.
Maybe he was actually smuggling in tissue paper, and this was a diversion.

‘No Kings’ protesters to march to Washington State Capitol on March 28
KIRO7 | 3/14/26 | MyNorthwest.com StaffThe third “No Kings” march and rally has been scheduled for March 28, as participants will march toward the Washington State Capitol in protest of the “unconstitutional and unaccountable behavior of our federal government.”
The event will begin at 11 a.m. and run until 3 p.m., including a march followed by a rally that features speakers, music, and sign-waving …
That’s supposed to be a draw?
For adults?
Olympia’s “No Kings” event will be just one of many similar nonviolent events occurring on March 28 across the U.S. In Olympia specifically, marchers will begin lining up at 11 a.m., leaving Percival Landing Park at 217 Thurston Avenue N.E. at 11:30 a.m., and marching to the Capitol Campus to begin the rally.
Who’s dictating the schedule? A committee of dictators?
“Currently, America has a cruel king surrounded by cruel cronies. …,” Amy Rehwaldt of Evergreen Resistance Olympia shared.
Thanks for sharing. Most people just speak.
