Work, Frank, Work

Got home really late yesterday, had to come in early this morning, and thus had to use about all the freetime I had to write that IMW I promised. So nothing this afternoon as I didn’t have time to organize the military stories I’ve received (and I have some good ones, including some people’s essays on why they joined and interrogation stories from a good military iterrorgator). I’ll have that tomorrow with a new humor post as I (should) have that day off.
A commenter, Jenny, mentioned the idea of you all pitching in so I could make a living wage off this blog and devote all my time to it. That’s not too bad an idea. Why don’t you all get working on that while I get back to my job.

  1. hey miranda, are you the one with the cute smile, and holding her hair back from the t-shirt contest. you shoulda won in my humble revolutionary opinion. i may be leftist but jesus (or abraham) you’d make me sell out me comrades.

  2. Oh, Frank… Have you seen what Bill Whittle just said about you?
“And if you are really, really desperate and have absolutely nothing worthwhile to do with your time, I suppose you could also go here.”
Are you gonna take that lyin’ down? Come on, let’s see a blogger rumble here. 🙂
(Chorus: “Fight! Fight! Fight!”) See, the crowd agrees with me!

  3. i got 4 tshirts in the mail!!!!!!!!
so frank, i will contribute to your living by being the best t-shirt babe ever and winning that little war with that other t-shirt babe and selling lots of t-shirts.
i can currently be seen in my KTE: TERRORISTS t-shirt. it looks lovely on me.

  4. i’m not american. so im not a democrat. i’m a bit more to the left of chomsky. more guy debord situationist. but im sure mr. debord – a romantic at heart – would forgive my flirting with the enemy.

  5. First they hated each other, then they shot each other…yeah 😉 I can work with this plot.
I always found Debord rather depressing. Do you really view the world in such a dark way?
I suppose that might explain why you visit IMAO ;).

  6. Frank, I got my Nuke the Moon shirt today and I’ve already had to explain it to two people who said they’d visit IMAO. I’ll be your grassroots advertising campaign here in NC. Then you can be just like Ker… you know what never mind about that comparison. Take it easy.

  7. OT…I saw the portion of the video where Mr. Berg is decapitated. It was obviously disgusting, and the action took longer to complete than had been reported (or at least seemed to). I won’t post the link here in case a kiddo is perusing IMAO, but if anyone really wants to see it I can send the link.

  8. good morning
first a cup of earl grey…
i wouldn’t call myself a hardcore situationist. i’m attracted somewhat to debord’s idea that all life in a capitalist society is mediated – whether through images (the media aspect, which is what most associate him with) or commodities.
a bit like the matrix right? or plato’s simile of the cave perhaps? this seems commonsensical to my mind. i mean its like whether or not that new pair of heels or morrisey record is really gonna fill the emptiness….(cept the morrissey lp really does fill the emptiness)
i also like his playfullness. i mean his society of the spectacle is basically a kinda pastiche of marx, hegel, etc. in that way he’s a bit more literary than some other political theorists. i suppose deleuze or hardt & negri are exceptions…
the only folks i can think of today who are fully into debord are the guys over at crimethinc (ltd). they’re a fun bunch of people. their book “days of war, nights of love” can be ordered gratis off of their site if i’m not mistaken. now don’t you guys all rush at once…
anyway, i like visiting sites all over the spectrum. of course my heart and mind lie leftwards (i mean i sing the internationale in the shower) but i think i should be able to argue a position from all sides.
so i like to see what sort of arguments people use. to be truthful most political sites are all about expediency or emotion rather than reason but thats the way the world is i suppose. now if philosophers ran the world…bwah ha ha ha (much gleefull rub of palms)
anyway take care miss miranda with the smile
from the cabal of revolutionaries planning to spread fun through subway air-vents and uncover the cobblestones,
    i am zapata

  9. Smile If it is mediated by a great number of things, it’s sort of the same as not being mediated at all in my view and I do not think
anyone can point to one, unchallenged mediator that has more power than the rest. But why bother
theorizing about the mechanics of the thing? I care about results, and capitalism has left us prosperous.
Philosophers will never rule the world – they would not want to. Sophists, on the other hand, always aspire to ;).
But I like the idea of being able to argue points from all sides.
At any rate 😛 I think I’m through spamming Frank’s comments for now.
See you in the air-vents 😉
    -M
