After hearing so many good things about Harry Potter, I tried reading the first book, but it’s nothing but gibberish.
What all this crap about a school for sorcerers? Give me Tom Clancy in Ancient Greek any day.

I hear ya! I HATE Harry Potter! The plot was so contrived, and predictable. I fell asleep during the second movie.
Holding out for the “Firefly” movie. Woo Hoo!
The only good thing that came out of Harry Potter is the LEGO sets – because they didn’t sell well – and went on deep clearance and there are a lot of good parts in there like 8×16 brickplates. : ) http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/4204
The only bad thing is that I have 250+ minifig torsos of that Hogwarts school uniform – maybe I need to build a military school for our next layout.

Or let me put it this way: Will Tom Clancy be read the world over in 3000 years? Instead, I would compare Tom Clancy to Olisboneuma. Who is Olisboneuma? Exactly.

Anything that can get kids to read is ok with me.
My wife, who is a teacher, bought me the audio books for the series. They make the hour and a half drive go by much faster.
They have a great recurring theme, too; The importance of being able to do the right thing “when given the choice between what is right, and what is easy.”
O.K.
I admit it.
I’m an adult who loves Harry Potter Books.
It could be worse, though. I could be voting for Kerry.
