Yay! Commercials!

First, I just have to say that watching the Superbowl with an HD Tivo is awesome. If I missed something, I just rewound. Needed to go to the bathroom – I just paused it. And, when I was no longer following it live, I could just fastforward the blah blah between plays.
Anyhoo, SarahK has a rundown of the commercials; what were your favorites this year?
Oh, and for those interested, SarahK has an account of meeting my parents this weekend. I had my dad tell her the story of the time he strangled a guy while in prison.
As long as I’m throwing out links, Iowahawk has a transcript of an awesome series from the 70’s your probably don’t remember: Chutch.

  1. The cat in the sauce had a whole room full of guys in front of the HDTV rolling on the floor. Had to be the best one, even if I am a skydiver and I can get the “cutlutral humor.” In fact, I think it’s a pretty much forgone conclusion that beer was invented for skydiving, just it took a long time for the technology to catch up…
(psst: don’t let the FAA guys catch you with alcohol around the DZ before the planes are tied down)

  2. Agree with the marvels of Tivo. Wonderful to be able to fastforward through the main show to just watch thee commercials. The feeling of wrongness is just a bonus. As for my favorite that would have to be the Amerimortgage comercials, for pure twist at the end.

  3. I watched the Super Bowl in a bar/pizza joint, since I don’t have a television. I loved the cat/spaghetti sauce commercial. Every man in the place howled with laughter. Nearly every woman was silent. As a commercial, it wasn’t much good, because I didn’t remember the name of the company, although I did remember that it was a mortgage company.
The “thank you to the troops” commercial from Anheuser-Busch was great. If their beer were half as good as the commercial, I wouldn’t have been drinking Sierra Nevada and Anchor Steam.

  4. i liked the mc hammer commercials presonally. now that guy is gonna be able to eat for the next few weeks. but anyways, the real highlight of last night was american dad. seth mcfarlane strikes again. still not as good as family guy, but i think it can hold me over til may.
    “democratic party missing: feared dead”
“do you like shaving your armpits? cause when the terrorists take over that’s the first thing to go!”
God:”i’ve gotta go, cheney’s on the other line” (takes other call) “yes sir”
