La Shawn Barber has a column on Christianity and Harry Potter. I’m now a big Potter fan since SarahK got me to read the books.
Snape is my favorite character, BTW.
Sorry, Professor Snape.
UPDATE: And here is a spoiler-filled discussion of book six on La Shawn Barber’s blog that I think Potter fans will want to read.
FIRST!
For old times sake…
They made a movie! Wow! What’s next? Merchandising?
Harry Potter would be a lot cooler if he was Jack Ryan.
Harry Potter = Jack Ryan?
The Sum of All Fears would have been a whole lot more interesting if that were the case.
The movie, not the book. The book could stand to be a little less interesting (not that I mind). I just don’t have the time to read a thousand-page book straight through any more.
Heh. A Navy officer at Hogwarts. Ginny would be so boned.
Darn you Frank J! Now I will have to spend all this time reading all her links.
I dunno, Harry Potter would be so much cooler if he were Jack Bauer.
I was pleased to see she mentioned John Granger’s books on whether Harry Potter is actually Christian literature. I’ve been a fan of his for a while; he argues well, and it makes it more fun to look for various bits (like the alchemy-related motifs) in the books.
The Harry Potter books are easily the best fiction being published today. They are simple enough for children to read, but deep enough for adults to appreciate. The C.S. Lewis comparison is on the money.
