Merry Christmas – Open Thread

Been a while since we had an open thread. So as a Christmas gift to you, loyal IMAOans, Here’s one.
Hope the day finds each of you well and happy and warm and fed.
Political meanderings aside. This does seem to be the time of year that each of us is not only encouraged, but expected to do the right thing. To forgive, to give, to accept, to share, to love, to welcome and to include.
Really, what’s nicer than that?

Chocolate? Okay, okay, not it’s not. But it’s tastier!
I love the Christmas banner! I wish all here at IMAO a safe, blessed, and merry Christmas!

  2. I know that the PC thing these days is to wish everyone “Happy Holidays”, or “Seasons Greetings”, or “Relatively Non-Threatening ChristmaKwanzUkkah” or some such. However, I want to wish you all, IMAO staff, honored Ronin, and all of your families a very Merry Christmas full of the love & hope in Christ that this day represents.
I hope that the year ahead finds us all in a better place personally, financially, mentally, and spiritually.
    God bless!

  3. I hope all who read this have loved ones and/or family to share their celebration of the birth of our Savior. If you don’t, think about going today to a homeless shelter or a nursing home or a veterans’ hospital. There are people there whose lives you might change just by showing up.
    Merry Christmas to all!!!

  4. Merry Christmas to everybody here. Let me add my praise for the snowman.
I’m sitting here in Mountain View (home of Google, and the gateway to Sunnyvale), hundreds of miles from any immediate family, opening my presents. There’s one from my nine-month-old nephew in Nebraska. It’s a picture taken last July of me holding him. My brother in Oregon has sent me a nice copy of Thank You, Jeeves, by my favorite author (other than FrankJ, Harvey, RightWingDuck, CadetHappy, spacemonkey, Laurence Simon, and the lovely SarahK), and the new Mitsuko Uchida recording of Beethoven’s Hammerklavier and Op. 101 sonatas. My mother, in northern Illinois, has sent me a copy of Studs Terkel’s memoir, since she and I are natives of Chicago. There are tears of happiness in my eyes that these people have remembered me.
And it’s a good time to offer my thanks to everybody here. Everybody. FrankJ, all the posters, and all the commenters. For five years or so, this has been a site that I can visit to get a laugh, to make an effort at contributing a laugh, and to be among friends. There are many sites that I refuse to visit because of the hatred spewed by the commenters. There’s very little of that here, and none from the regulars. IMAO is a rare island of good humor and sanity on the web.

  5. Merry Christmas to all. May the peace of Christ come to you all. And to everyone traveling, Be safe out there. And a big thank you to our troops. You make it so we can enjoy our times with our families in safety. Hope you can all come home soon in victory.

  6. Merry Christmas, Silicon Valley Jim!
Glad to know there is another Frank J. fan in the San Francisco Bay Area.
“IMAO is a rare island of good humor and sanity on the web.”
I’ll fire up the puppy blender and drink to that!

  7. Nollaig Shona daoibh go léir agus Athbhliain faoi shéan is faoi mhaise daoibh, agus go mba seacht fearr sinn go léir ag an am seo ar an bhliain seo chugainn! (Irish blessing)
Merry Christmas to you all and a happy and prosperous New Year to you all and may we all be seven times better off at this time next year!
As my crippled brother tiny tim said ‘G-d bless us, Everyone.’

  8. I accidentally emailed everyone in the Corporate GAL my instructions on how to by pass WebSense.
Since it’s Christmas I might be able to get away with recalling it.
What’s better than Peace and being with loved ones?
Beating Liberals with a rifle butt.
My wife taking the kids and going to visit her mother for a week (just me and the dog and peace & quiet!)
    Merry Christmas to all!

  9. Wait…what does this have to do with the promotion of the homosexual lifestyle…or, teenage sex? I’m sorry, but I’ve been programmed to accept that everything I see in the media must promote both homosexuality and teenage sex, with a possible white-guilt moment thrown in for good measure. So, as a result, I don’t know how to respond to this post.
However, I do hope you had a great Christmas.

  10. Mele Kalikimaka everyone!
(See what I did there? I wished you Merry Christmas in Hawaiian. If anyone complains about saying the dreaded “Merry Christmas”, you can accuse them of being culturally-insensitive. That is worse than death for them.)
