  1. A potluck lunch? You haven’t joined the Lutheran Church, have you Frank?
“Wherever two or more Lutherans are gathered in His name, there shall be a dish to pass in the midst of them….”
    (yep, Lutheran – LCMS)

    I think… I’ve found religion! I’m no longer a godless heathen!
Wait, I don’t have to go to some sort of long boring sermon and worship a god do I? I mean, I’m 100% behind this potluck thing, but if it involves sermons and worshiping..

  3. well… at least he has ’til tomorrow to convert. that’s awful christian of you, frankj…
hey… know why i like being baptist? because if you hold some one’s head under the water long enough, they’re bound to come around to your way of thinkin’…
(oh. and i’ll have jennifer make something… she’s a heck of a cook. pampered chef rep, too, you know… anyone want a catalog?)

LCMS representin’ here as well. The other Lut’ran ‘verselets’ I know also involve coffee – there’s one about the number of coffeepots per capita in any LCMS church that cracked me up, but I don’t remember how it went. We like our coffee, baked goods, and covered-dish dinners about like the Methodists (used to, anyway) like lemonade and ice-cream socials.

Vater, Sohn und Heiliggeist! Gott ist nicht optional! Seriously, the sermons aren’t that long (at least in our LCMS congregation) but we Lut’rans do like our hymns. Three or 4 per service, and they’re 7- and 8-stanza lung-busters. It goes back to Martin Luther himself, who said, “There is no reason the Devil should have all the good tunes.” The organist earns his pay at an LCMS church.

  5. Dishes will be assigned to usernames as follows:
    A-F shall bring Main Dishes
    G-M shall bring Sides
    N-T shall bring Desserts
    U-Z shall bring Salads
Make sure everyone’s name is taped onto their crock pot so we don’t have a mix-up like last year.
