I don’t see what a lot of the hostility from conservatives towards Huckabee is about. I kind of like the guy. Thompson is still my first choice, but I could live with Huckabee. (I would have a much harder time with Romney or McCain or Giuliani.)

Why not Fred? The only reason I can think of is the front-porch campaign. I like the guy, but I need to see more energy than an occasional speech between lunch and his afternoon nap.
I agree with #4. Fred would be the first choice, but could live with Huckabee. Giuliani or Romney, not so much. I liked Romney’s religion speech, but he has a way to go yet before I could really warm up to him.
If it were down to just Thompson and Huckabee it is hard to say exactly who would win. Thompson is a candidate who only attracts clueless old people and Huckabee is a clown. The GOP needs to offer someone better than Bush not someone worse. It’s obvious there will be a widespread Democratic victory in 2008.
