Obama Dooooom!

So are we really doomed if Obama is nominated? CW seems to be that he’s unbeatable despite having absolutely no accomplishments other than going for the world record on repeated use of the word “hope.” I don’t buy it. If you can get a president elected by nominating some shiny useless bauble, the parties would have exploited that long ago. Let’s see how Obama does when he finally gets put by through the wringer (and I’ll be there wringing!).
What think you?

  1. Frank J,
You lucky bastard! It has long been apparent that McCain and Huckabee made a deal to cut Romney out of the race. What Huck didn’t tell McCain was that he was going to try to win the race for himself! My friend, Huckabee still can’t win the race. But he can stop McCain and force a brokered convention. I’ll leave you to figure out the rest…

  2. I think it was Glen Beck who noted that the self-described socialist in the House, Vermont’s Bernie Sanders, has a voting score on par or barely to the Left of Obama.
Sanders: ACU 2006 score of 8, lifetime of 6.5
Obama: ACU 2006 score of 8, lifetime 8 (but only two years of service)
    We’re all gonna die!
An interesting side note. While researching voting record score, I came across the National Joural scores. Link Not much of a shock, McCain’s record slipped nearly 20 points since he was “a footsoldier in the Reagan revolution.”

  3. Obama: “Maybe if I keep saying Hope over and over, people will like me.”
    “Hope”
    “HOPE”
    “HOOOOPPPPEEEE”
    “HHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEE”
Now, if he could just explain why he voted “Present” on over 130 bills while a Senator in Illinois. And which he said more than once “There was a problem with my machine. It wouldn’t let me vote.”
The writing is on the wall. If Obama doesn’t win in November, even if he isn’t the nominee, he will file lawsuits claiming that the voting machines didn’t work, and his supports couldn’t cast the ballot they wanted.

  4. So its going to be the Black Jimmy Carter against a grumpy old man? ( I am still hoping for huckabee to dislodge McCain somehow.)
Obama will be harmless compared to Hilary. I think he’s as far left, but he is so green he wont be effective at pulling the levers of power. Hilary will pull the levers of power with all the finesse of a caged orangatang but she knows where they are.
If we must go with an old man with a temper I say we draft Cheney.

  5. Actually Obama is our best hope. Its true!
McCain has made his bed. He will attempt to amnesty 15 million new Democrats that will destroy Republican chances for decades. Our country will be turned into a socialist welfare state that France would be proud of.
Yes, the two Democrats will do the same. Our only hope is to filibuster all amnesty bills. It will be much easier to filibuster if McCain isn’t in the White House twisting Republican arms.
It will be much easier to filibuster if Obama is in the White House. He will make so many mistakes he will make Jimmy Carter look like a genious. This will put Republicans in a strong position in 2012.
I know its a bitter pill but if we don’t do it we will be taken into captivity for twenty years.
The silver lining is if Obama is president both Hillary and McCain will have been dissed. They both deserve it royaly!

  6. The only problem I see with “putting Obama through the wringer” is that, well, his supporters haven’t seemed to care so far, so why should they start anytime soon? It has been obvious all along that Obama has no substantial experience in government, much less a clue as to how to be the chief executive of the world’s foremost country. But, like many have pointed out, his supporters aren’t going on issues, they’re going on looks and emotional response…not the least of which is they want to be seen supporting “change” in the form of a black president. There, I said it: they’re voting for him because he’s black. Is that politically correct? Am I going to receive a tounge lashing from some of the trolls on this site? More importantly, do you think I actually care?

  7. The super-delegates will betray Obama in the convention brawl, rather than face the certainty of paybacks from Clintonistas. Weepy and Bubba Dropdrawers will launch enough lawsuits to bury the DNC if she doesn’t get her way.
Too bad the lamestream media hasn’t made more about the Presidential Library Funding Turnstile being run by that toad McAuliffe.

  8. Joseph has it about right. Obama’s supporters are too blinded by flash to notice he’s just a small appliance lightbulb. But will he get put through the wringer?
Well, the media won’t. They love the guy, and he’ll be the democrat candidate, so he’ll largely get a pass. Conservative/republican sources will try, but no one will care but people who won’t vote for him anyway.
Besides, how many people on here are old enough to have experienced running clothes through a ringer? The thinner the material, the less good it does. There’s so little political material from Obama, it’ll be tough. He’s so thin he could probably slide right through without touching the rollers.
Seems to me our choices are down to being shot in the face (Hillary), shot in the head, (Obama), shot in the forehead (Shuckabee), or shot in the knee (McCain).
I’m just gonna have to suck it up and get kneecapped.

  9. If the nominees are Obama and McCain, get ready for President McCain.
If you look at the results from the Democrap primaries, the hispanics are voting for Hillary in overwhelming numbers. Given that there is not a hairwidth of difference in the issues between Hildabeast and the Obamessiah, the most likely explanation is that there are alot of Hispanics that won’t vote for a black candidate. This is the equivalent of Romney’s “Morman question” with evangelicals except of course it can not be discussed in the media because everyone knows only white conservatives could be racist.
Since McCain is for all practical purposes a Demoncrap on the one wedge issue (open borders) that the Democrats have to keep Hispanics voting D, his nomination will put the Hispanic voters (who poll toward the conservative side of all of the wedge issues other than border security) in to play.
Putting the Hispanic vote into play will at a minimum force the Dems to put precious money and effort to hold usually safe California. In the worst case scenario for the Demoncraps, California swings red and it is game over, cause no Dem can take the presidency without California.

  10. My opinion is that McCain can’t win. Dems won’t vote for him. Republicans don’t like him. So it’s between the Obamamessiah and Hillary! If Hillary! wins she’s in for 8 years. Nothing will dislodge her. Obama-lama-ding-dong will make so many mistakes he is a guaranteed one term wonder.
But let’s assume that McCain does win. He wouldn’t win a second term because the 2nd time around even fewer Republicans would vote for him. That will still leave us with the second coming of the Obamamessiah, this time new and improved with 4 more years of experience to hone his message and a shot at being a two term president.
So what are the choices: McCain now followed by Obama four years from now; Hillary! for the next eight years followed by Obama; or Obama for the next four years with a blacklash Republican elected in four years to wash taste of changeyness out of our mouths.
    Vote accordingly.

  11. Not that Obama has anything like a chance but if we have to have a socialist for our next president, he’s the lesser evil. But he doesn’t have a chance. The publicity and protocols binder for Hillary’s announcement that she will not be selecting Obama as her Veep has been finalized and in the safe for months. (They don’t want a repeat of Dukakis’ snub of Jesse in ’88.)
But if Hillary DOES manage to stumble, an Obama presidency will be entirely taken up with the pagentry of “The First Black President.” Al Shartpon will screech deafeningly if B.O.’s nominees for high offices are not “authentic” enough. His real agenda, such as it is, will languish, amen.
Hillary on the other hand will be able to leverage her “firstness” in a different way. Anyone who is less than adoring of any of her initiatives will face charges of sexism, misogyny, backlash and neanderthalism. And almost regardless of how she does by anyone’s standard, she will be re-elected out of concern for her feelings.
Be kind to that nice old man from Arizona, he’s had a hard life and he is about to be eviscerated. Dig your foxholes deep and check your perimeter; the hippies are coming back to the palace.

  12. “There was a problem with my machine. It wouldn’t let me vote.”
That’s an absolutely true statement. You just have to realize that the machine in question is the Chicago Democrat political machine.
So its going to be the Black Jimmy Carter against a grumpy old man?
Black Jimmy Carter is absolutely right. A candidate who is quite likeable, at least on the surface, with a record of personal accomplishment. The white Jimmy Carter turned out to be a terrible President, quite possibly the worst in my lifetime. I have vivid memories of high inflation, high interest rates, hostages in our embassy in Tehran (who were freed the day that Reagan took office), and a general sense of malaise. I REALLY don’t want to live through that again.

  13. There’s certainly some chance to beat Obama. Events could have a lot to do with it, for instance if people see that once again the economy isn’t as bad as dinosaur media says it is during an election year, that will help Mac. If Obama ever gives a non-vague answer, that will help Mac. If the dems have an ugly convention brawl, that will help Mac. All of these are reasonably likely.
Oh yeah, if the rather nasty new bacteria MRSA USA-300 starts causing sex criminals to get really sick in large numbers (not unlikely either), that will hurt Obama by taking away a big source of funding and support.

  14. Re #9
You are absolutely right. Hilary’s ‘machine’ will not allow her to lose. They fight dirty and there is no such thing as one of their own. She will do anything to get her way.
On February 6 RealClearPolitics.com had NAtional head to head polls on their site that took the average of 8 different polling companies. It had McCain beating Clinton and losing to Obama. I do not know if it has been updated.

  15. The Messiah
Once upon a time there was this black guy and he went around the country whipping people into a frenzy. The frenzied people turned into a mob that got bigger and bigger. Eventually the mob started to demand things like “it’s our time” and “we are the ones we have been waiting for.” No one knew what these people meant but no one knew how to stop them either. Eventually the man that was whipping the people into a frenzy became President and destroyed America. The End.

  16. McCain’s bieest obstacle will be lack of grass root support. The grass root conservatives organize the fundarisers, get the word out, beat the drums, defend the candidate. They’re just not as motivated to go to the mat over McCain and, honestly, who can blame them?

  17. If McCain would turn his amnesty for criminals views around, I’d vote for him. As it stands, I can’t see voting for any of these contenders. It doesn’t matter that McCain is a Republican or that Bush referred to him as a true conservative (as if he knew what that meant); he doesn’t embody what I believe to be a strong conservative leader.
It easy to say “tough on terrorists”, but what does that mean? That he’s going to pursue several thousand people abroad who want to undermine America, but ignore the millions upon millions doing it here? That doesn’t even make a little sense.

  18. “Tough on terrorists” means being tough on the capitalist pig oppressors! Only Huckabee will save us from toiling in the salt mines for the rest of our lives while the fat cats smoke their stogies and swim in pools of dollar bills!
    Our savior will “bee” Huckabee!

  19. If you can get a president elected by nominating some shiny useless bauble, the parties would have exploited that long ago.

    “Change.”
    “Don’t stop thinking about tomorrow.”
    “Compassionate conservative.”
    “Uniter, not a divider.”
Sorry, but the last 15 years have been largely based on shiny useless baubles.
Nevertheless, you’ve seen saying what I’ve been saying: Old people vote more than young people, so McCain isn’t hopeless even though media might try to make him look that way.

  20. Obama’s vision of Patriotism (No flag required but you must unionize). Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) says that he and Barack Obama want to do exactly that “I’ve talked to Barack a lot about his Patriot Corporation Act, which is not trade per se, but it’s certainly part of the economic package around globalization. The Patriot Corporation Act has not gotten the attention that I would hope it would. But, basically it says that if you play by the rules, if you pay decent wages, health benefits, pension; do your production here; don’t resist unionization on neutral card check, then you will be designated a Patriot Corporation and you will get tax advantages and some [preference] on government contracts.”

  21. #6 – RA, I agree with your view completely! Obama is the perfect “Silver Bulllet” to take out Hitlary. Obama can beat Qwai Chang McCain and his Court appointments will not be significantly worse than McCains. Remember, “Moderate” Repubs gave us Souter, Kennedy and O’Connor. If the same insame Liberal appointments come from Obama we at least has a chance of some ressistance.
An Obama adminoistration will start pushing hard Left Socialism for America and diaster, if not out right Civil War!, will follow.
This will help arouse the populace and conservatives to take back the House and Senate in 2010 and the White House in 2012!
We screw Hitlary(NOOOOO! eeecccck!) and Juan McCain with one stroke.
    VOTE OBAMA!

  22. McCain looses most of the “independent” votes if Obama is the winner on the Dem side. After all He is the Messiah! He will lead this nation to the Promised Land of the Liberals! Free Health Care! Free College Education! More Wealfare Benefits! Federally Funded Abortions for the Needy! Come, my Brothers and Sisters, place your vote for Obama. He has risen from the lowly depths of the Illinois Assembly to the United States Senate in meteoric time. Can you see the Divinely inspired HOPE only HE can give this nation?! Give him your heart, your soul, and your vote!
Or you could just vote for Hillary for the hell of it.

  23. Cheeseball: And 15% inflation, 12% unemployment, $10 gas, 6000 on the DOW, US Dollar worth .25 Euro, war in the Middle East, attacks on US soil, and possibly more.
I say again. If McCain doesn’t unite the Conservative base of the Republican Party, Obama wins the election.

  24. I second Cheney. Cheney/Thompson 08 – once again peace through strength.
Really, Obama? Peace through….”ah geez, there is HOPE we can all just get along”
Aside from that silliness, is HOPE an allusion to a former presidents orgins? Are there subliminal messages here. Oops, now I sound like a Ronulon. Time to get out some tinfoil – anyone know how to make a hat out of that?

  25. I hope that someday you will appreciate the audacity and the hopiness of hope. When you look toward the future and you see the hope of the children, then you will realize that their audacity is truly filled with hope. Only then will the truth and power of the hope of the children come. Then a new dawn will arise.
